That's awesome with the superman punches etc. I was just telling my wife the other day how I can't wait to have kids and hopefully they will like wrestling so we can watch together and go to the matches. Of course she rolled her eyes at me so I did the Stone Cold Stunner to her....

Yeah exactly, my first favorite wrestler was the Ultimate Warrior and I really started getting into wrestling in 1991 and remember going to Blockbuster and renting all the old WWF PPVs. My first PPV I ordered live was Summer Slam 1991 which of course was Warrior's last match for almost a year and on that PPV Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect put on a classic match so I started to get into Hart from then on. And like you said you get into wrestling by watching the big larger than life characters like Hogan, Warrior, Andre but as you got older and "smarter" you started to really like the work horses like Hart, Michaels, Flair etc.

Yeah he has all the belts except for the tag titles. We have "matches" all the time on our bed, or we lay out a bunch of blankets and pillows with couch cushions or something along those lines. He is so good now he even whispers me moves while in a submission, or rest hold, to set up the next set of stuff. He did a high head kick Saturday night, and I put my hands up his sweeping shin jammed my thumb really good.....of course I sold it real well, and instead of this kid wondering if Dad was ok.....he knew Bad News Barrett (who I was at the time cause I have the IC belt) was vulnerable. So he starts stomping my right hand, doing arm breakers and submissions....working the injury. My wife literally asked if there are camps for kids his age.....I told her I don't think so, but he can play football and other sports that build core strength, and do acting classes and public speaking classes to help on the mic. But that ****s crazy to think about......he really friggin loves it. It's so fun for me to watch.

Well to be fair, Khali probably doesn't speak or understand English very well, perhaps since he's used to people carrying him in the ring he thinks it's only fair for them to do his shopping, cooking, cleaning etc for him too?

If there was ever a guy to put an "I don't get the opportunities I deserve" gimmick on right now, it's definitely Kofi.

I still don't know if the group will be face or heel. I just hope they don't play up the race issue in it.

So yeah, might have to change the title of this thread to get rid of TNA. Spike TV told them they aren't renewing their TV deal when it expires in October, no word on when they will stop airing their show. Obviously without a TV deal the company, which is already in financial trouble, is screwed.

Whether you like TNA or not, it's bad for the whole business if they go under.

I really hope Global Force does something, to keep things fresh and push WWE out of its comfort zone....but I doubt it.

Do they even have a TV deal yet? Without one the WWE won't even blink, and even with TNA having one the WWE probably never cared. I doubt Vince even knows about TNA.

But yes if you're a wrestling fan and even if you won't watch Global Force, you need to be rooting for it to be successful. If the WWE isn't threatened then we're going to see more Cena vs. Orton for the WWE title matches in our future. In fact the only thing saving us from that is the Network's numbers are underperforming.

Speaking of Orton, according to the dirt sheets, he's in the dog house with other wrestlers for his house show matches against Reigns. The other wrestlers feel like Orton is purposely having bad matches and trying to kill Reigns' heat. With Bryan out of action and Cena not being able to carry the load by himself, the wrestlers in the back know the WWE needs another babyface star.

Thats ****ed up and not like him. Usually hes a good seller and performer in the ring. I hate wrestling politics. So stupid.

And why would he care? Hes best as a heel anyways.

Well Orton did stop Kofi Kingston's push by complaining to Vince that he was sloppy in the ring and couldn't work so he has blood on his hands for at least one wrestler.

And no idea why he cares, if really if it's even true, but like you said wrestling politics are the worst. Maybe he's not happy someone else is getting a push and his character once again doesn't have a clear direction.

Dalip spoke very little English and probably still does. In fact, the English he did know, came from wrestling tapes and thus, his Jim Ross impression is very hilarious. As for "Khali Duty," it doesn't surprise me. The guy didn't come to the states until he was in his late 20's and was immediately catered to by wrestling promoters, movie producers and the like. He simply never had to learn the skills needed to fend for himself, and likely never will.

He IS a big star in India and that means something, obviously. But "Khali Duty," is no different than "Andre Duty," who was another foreign giant who expected others to do everything for him. Granted, he is no where near as iconic as Andre, but the treatment isn't unprecedented either.

For the record, Dalip Singh was always tremendously sweet and nice to me. "He good man," was how he used to greet me...before chopping me and causing my nipples to bleed. I was also one of his preferred sparring partners as I didn't mind bumping for the big lug.

Thanks for answering. I thought of you immediately when I saw Jericho say that. Back in the 70s-80s that was the norm then. Do you think that people in the back hold ill-will towards Khali for that?

Also whats your thoughts on him stopping what hes doing? It's a botch-fest anytime he's in the ring, and he looks like hes in massive pain. Why not just be a promotional guy. Why keep wrestling? It's painful to watch. I feel bad for the dude.

I have no idea what Dalip's contract terms are, in terms of performance expectations. He is severely limited at this point of his career and is now north of 40, so yeah, I think the end is near. Keep in mind, the physical wrestling is just one aspect of it. Traveling has got to be uncomfortable for him. We used to have a big work van where we sat him in the way back, and took out a middle seat for his legs, and he was still uncomfortable. The guy is massive, the world is not.

WWE edits their broadcasts for the Asian market to show him as a main eventer and headliner, so he and/or they may not be in a hurry to have him hang it up all together.

If it were me, I would simply have him lose a few matches, go completely nuts, destroying the set, cameras, etc. and "quit" as a wrestler. Only to have him come back as ringside muscle for someone like The Miz with his new gimmick, or Sandow. But keep him strictly as a bodyguard that interferes on occasion booth chops, punches, etc.

As for ill will from other wrestlers, I have no clue. The locker room is a very political place and I am sure there are guys who resent him, whether they verbalized it or not, I haven't a clue. All I can tell you is that if he is the same guy as he was 13 years ago, it would be hard to hate the man. He really was the definition of a nice guy.

Some may know the story, but if not, Dalip also saved me on Halloween one year when I was getting jumped outside the gym by four guys. Dalip got wind of it and charged them like a mack truck and they all took off, pooping their collective pants.

The dude is crazy strong. I have seen him pick up grown men (6'2" 250 lb men) with one hand and toss the around like rag dolls with ease. Being on the business end of a charging Dalip Singh is probably on the short list of things most rational humans would want to be on.

He seems like an absolute freak of nature (I mean that in the nicest way possible) so I don't doubt he's incredibly strong and someone you wouldn't want to screw with. I do feel bad for him because the guy is just huge and even him walking to the ring it looks like he's in pain. I could only imagine how hard it must be to travel either by car or plane to get to places or do simple tasks.

    WWE Network update:

As for 6/30 there are 700k subscribers. The WWE lost $14.5 million in the 2nd quarter. New offer of $19.99 if you just want to sign up for a month. Network will be available in Canada, Spain, Australia and other countries on 8/12. UK is getting it in October. So other countries getting it should help.

Either way still surprised the Network hasn't taken off. It's fantastic.

Yeah, I seriously don't know why anyone that has ordered more than 2 PPVs each year isn't all over this. I do think the WWE needs to promote the Network better and really sell the fact that fans can watch older footage. They should have commercials for it with superstars like John Cena saying he just watched I don't know Bash at the Beach 1998 last night.

Read they gain 161,000 subscribers but had 128,000 people cancel there subscriptions in the 2nd quarter, I don't know if that is a Bad sign or just people who got the network for wrestlemania only.

How could people cancel their subscriptions? They had to sign up for a 6 month committment and those don't expire until end of Aug/early Sept, no?

Either way once they branch out to other countries in August they should probably at least double their subscribers for sure.

Absolutely. With the recent inclusion of Saturday Nights Main event...that alone is worth the money for a 30 something wrestling fan. Watched one every night almost since they were added. If you have a young wrestling fan in your family its a must have. Nothing better than seeing my son watch the mega powers battle the twin towers of akeem and the big boss man on any given night..or then watch Miss Elizabeth divide them..
