Seriously that's all TB got for David Price. If I was a TB fan I'd be furious right now. You traded a top 5 MLB pitcher with 1.5 years left and that's all you got? Really wonder what the offers were for Price last winter.

Anyway good news for the rest of the AL East teams.

Wait TB traded Zobrist too? I don't think they did.

Anyway yeah I mean not only that but the package they got back just seems super light. Like if a Tiger fan pitched that deal a day ago on the radio or in a message board they'd get laughed at for being unrealistic, no?

There can't be a happy player in the clubhouse today. I wonder if/how it will effect the team moving forward.

We got 18 year old Willy Adams from Tigers as well. But I agree. The trades a joke. I actually like Nick Franklin. Always wanted him as part of a trade to the Mariners. But only as part, not the main cog.

Not a big fan of Smyly.

Overall we got a lot less then we got in the Shields deal. For a much better pitcher.

    Pretty disappointing.

I like the Yankees deal for Prado, he could be a good bounce back candidate. And do think Drew will be good at YS. Will be interesting to see how he does at 2B.

Wonder if the Rays are kicking themselves for not dealing Price to Oakland for Russell and co.

For whatever it's worth Keith Law said the Sox got the best prospect via trade today in the Miller to Baltimore for Rodriguez deal, who he says is a top 100 prospect and could be a solid #3 starter.

Speculation, and obviously we are a long way from the offseason, but the Sox are going to be players for both Lester and James Shields this winter.

If that's the case it's extremely importment that the Sox continue to suck and get a top 10 protective pick.

The pitching staff is going to give up plenty of runs the next few months. Essentially Sox will be throwing a whole AAA staff.

Which I think is good in this case in the sense that these kids get to pitch at the MLB level with seemingly no pressure on them of a playoff race. They can take their lumps and develop. Much rather see Webster, Ranuado, Workman or RDLR pitch and possibly struggle then Doubront or a Bedard/Caupano type.

And Monster, unfortunately you might need a new avy soon....

I totally agree, all those guys are on the cusp, lets see what you got.

While the Sox didn't get any huge prospects the 2 lefties they got are both pretty good, the Sox minors are loaded with talent.

Wow I have been rocking the Lester avy for a while now, unless you go with a new guy it's a tough time for Sox avy's.

I don't think the Sox are done dealing either. I would be surprised if Mike Carp and Kelly Johnson were still on the team by September. I could also see the Sox trading David Ross, Badenhop, Breslow and/or Mujica too. I doubt they could but if Victorino can stay healthy for more than 4 games in a row he could be an interesting name that the Sox might just let go if another team claims him, which is probably doubtful.

In the offseason the Sox will have a log jam on the 40 man roster. They currently have 39 players and will be losing Ross, Koji, Kelly Johnson, Badenhop after the year. The Sox have a team option for Breslow, but can't see them picking it up with the way he's been pitching this year. I'm guessing Ryan Lavarnway will be taken off the 40 man as well. So that leaves the roster at 33, as the Sox need to add a bunch of minor leaguers to the 40 man or risk losing them to the Rule 5 draft, plus adding new players to the roster by FA or trades. The Sox will also have a ton of OFs so I expect them to shop possibly Nava and/or Victorino. So Ben and co. have a lot of work to do in the offseason with the roster and I do expect them to make a few trades with some of their prospects too to bring in more talent, like Stanton for example.

yeah but those guys have no value, as you saw with the Sox just DFA'ing Carp.....I mean if they do trade the others it would be for cash I am gathering.

The only one left I could see the Sox trading and receive decent value back is the closer when they put him on waivers....

Agreed they don't have any value. Just talking about getting guys off the 40 man at the end of the year.

Phelpsie left with elbow soreness and inflammation that he has apparently been dealing with for 3 weeks.
Wtf is in the water the Yankees pitchers are drinking. And wtf is up with the training staff allowing a a guy to pitch for 3 weeks with elbow pain.

One of the reasons why the Sox aren't as good this year is that their star players, like Ortiz, Pedroia, Napoli etc. aren't having that good of a year. Ortiz is still hitting HRs but he's at just .252/.344/.504/.848 which is a drop from last year at .309/.395/.564/.959. He simply isn't driving the ball to all fields anymore, perhaps this is the start of his decline. Don't get me wrong Ortiz is still valueble but he, along with Pedroia and Napoli aren't as good as they were last year. Add that to the fact the Sox have gotten basically nothing out of all 3 OF spots, the catching position and most of the time SS/3B it's a problem.

Right but with Pineda I think he is genuinely messed up by injuries, remember the kid makes peanuts, it would behoove him to play and get some sort of contract lined up...TEX? he is on the biggest level of ***** you have ever seen....

Oh I'm not questioning whether or not his injuries are real. I do think he was legit hurt, same with Tex. My point is since the Yankees traded for him he's barely stayed on the field. He's been in the Yankee organization for 3 years now and has pitched in 4 MLB games and 11 MILB games. That's not even on Carl Pavano level right now. Just based on track record the past 3 years its only a matter of time before he's unfortunately hurt again. If he has another setback or can't pitch again this year I wonder if the Yankees will even tender him a contract for next year.

That remains to be seen but obviously you go into the season with a plan, but if MP is saying he can pitch they are going to try....

As for Tex, if he was injured so much that were legit he would be on the DL, lately it is a lat or lightheadded....he even said he is going to need "maintenance days" for now on....who says that making 23M?! Jeter literally played until his ankle shattered into pieces, rehabbed and is manning the hardest position at age 40 pretty decently...I hate the ******* that baseball players are sometimes and it is all because of guaranteed contracts...
