BTW, Devlin has looked sharp in place of Moore.. but no, we should cut him now because we shouldn't keep three quarterbacks thru the regular season and Devlin sux anyway.

Defense woke up after their cool down break... looks like they've started to bring the blitz.. fairly telling on both sides of the ball if you think about it.

Not comparing the two offenses at all. Just saying that there might be a little something to the defenses being ahead of the offenses this time of year.

I'd say no. I doubt anything they do is a reaction to anything the media says.

I don't think so but I agree with the sentiment of what you're saying. it'd be nice if the media weren't allowed to divulge the information of whose playing where. At a certain point it seems like the coaches are judged just by seeing if a player can do something out of the ordinary.

Wonder if Brandon Gibson could find himself as an odd man out. It's not as unbelievable as you'd think. Sometimes your salary is a millstone hanging around your neck. He did well in 2013 before getting hurt, but he was also set up to do well.

I like Gibson but I could see it. I could see Landry (if he's the real deal) and Matthews/Binns/Hazel whoever replacing Hartline/Gibson over this season and next. Get those WR costs back down.

What's really "lame and getting old" is talking about what happened 5 years ago. This offense looks absolutely nothing like the one from 2009-10-11 etc. NOTHING.

In 2012 we had a rookie QB with all of 19 college starts and a WR corps that was arguably the worst in the league. Now we have a 3rd year guy with 30+ NFL starts who has proven he can play at the pro level. In 2013 the OL was one of the worst in the league, as were the pass blocking and run game. Albert, James, Smith, Moreno, a bulked up Miller and new OC all were brought in to help correct those weaknesses. We have at least 5 quality WRs after having no more than 4 and as little as 2 in 2013.

New offense, new players, completely new OL, of course it's a work in progress after a week of training camp. Duh. Hiccups are to be expected.

But anyone who's making ominous predictions after 6 or 7 practices that THEY HAVENT EVEN SEEN, yeah, that's a whining ***'d cry baby all day long. Unless the predictions were positive, in which case the person would be a serious homer. I don't mind homers, what I do mind is pessimists and naysayers masquerading as analysts. We're over here trying to get amped up for the season. Take that negative ish somewhere else...

IMO your message would be taken more seriously, even celebrated (because what Dolphins fan doesn't want to find some excuse to be positive?), if you weren't so one-note.

Everything out of you is just constant "blah blah blah, I hate everyone that disagrees with me or suggests anything negative about the team, you're all crybabies and losers and whiners and (fart noise) blah blah anger voice!!"

As Eop05 said, it just gets old and lame. Be more respectful and you in turn will be respected more.

Very similar to when Hartline essentially took Camarillos job a few years back. There's no way Gibson isn't aware of Jarvis Landry.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Totally agree.

For me, the first week just reinforces my fear and why I believe we won't be very good.

It doesn't matter if it's pessimism, optimism, realism, objectivity, subjectivity whatever. In the end, if the team is good EVERYONE will be happy. If the team isn't good, EVERYONE will be disappointed.

Im not much of an I told you so guy because those people annoy me too.

However I hope to hell I'm wrong on this year and the team surprises me because loaing sucks and watching a boring product/team sucks too.

    Good points.

You know...for once I'd like a guy on Miami to price himself out because he outperformed rather than the other way around.

Like wouldn't it be great if Matthews just broke out and wanted a ton of money and we had to deal with that problem? Rather than spending too much money on a guy that we can getter same production from that's much cheaper?

I get that's the way of football but I feel like it's been heavily one sided for us due to so-so drafting and heavy FA spending.

Not to mention, a new, respected OL coach, who himself said it's going to be rough for a while. That first week of practice certainly was rough, but as the practices progress, there is consistent improvement in O line play, except for bad snaps and even those went away today, and numerous reports of RT playing more consistently, even with more long-ball connections than previous years.

I'm glad they haven't signed Satale...dude's mush. And Cook, well, maybe he'd work maybe he wouldn't, but the coaches/coordinators/GM HAVE to have already considered them and they have their reasons. I truly don't believe they want to fail, so I'll just have to believe they're doing what they think is best for the team. If I could do it better, I wouldn't be posting on this forum.

Our other glaring weakness from last year was LBs. DING DING DING...new coach there too! Misi moved to the middle and by all accounts seems to be taking well to the new responsibilities. He's displaying leadership, being very vocal (which many worried he couldn't do) and has studied the defense deeper than probably anybody else on the team. Upcheck IMHO.

In all fairness, the Miami Dolphins offense of 2013 shouldn't cause any team to lose sleep, but like you said, this is a new situation, from the coaches all the way down...I'm psyched!

Lol be careful what you risk for because Tannehill, Clay, Pouncey, Vernon and Wilson will all want significant raises in the near future.

I can understand that, however it is almost like planning on being fearful. Defense has 3 new starters, same scheme, was 12th in scoring and 4th in passing touchdowns. Offense was bottom of the league, 5 new starters all on offensive line, and has an entirely new scheme.

Just seems like in the first week of training camp, defense would be ahead. Especially the pass defense.

However, there has been some positives compared to last year. Landry is looking good, Mathews is looking good, Clay has stepped into the starting role and looking to improve over last season, Lamar Miller is looking better, UDFA RB Williams is looking to be a contributor, Tannehill is more consistent in practice and hitting more deep balls and all those happened in the first week.

Yes the center exchanges have been bad. Yes none of the players on the right side look ready to be able to take on Starks or Wake on a consistent basis. Yes there have been a lot of problems.

Just in the first week, it should have been expected.

For the talk about Matthews being in Philbin's "doghouse" he's seemingly having a very nice camp. I'd rather keep him and develop him than get sporty with Gibson coming off that injury.

We're talking about practice and there are countless different ways to approach it. Frankly, if you're not on the ground or in the staff meetings then it's basically impossible to tell what they're working on or trying to accomplish at this point, and thus impossible to tell whether or not they are doing well or not.

For example, the coaches know that Garner can play center if need be and they know how well he can do it. But they're trying Smith bc they want to see what he looks like there. Maybe he can do it maybe not, camp is the time to find out. If they like him at C fine, if not then they go with Garner and Smith at least has some reps there just in case Garner goes down before Pouncey come back. That's good coaching, experimenting and preparing for possible scenarios. But let the whiners tell it, there are bad snaps, the OL sucks and it's the same as last year. It's hilarious.

Now is the time to prepare for the season. It's not about "winning" day to day practices or impressing our clueless, headline chasing, press corps. Trying to pass judgement after two or three padded practices is silly no matter how you slice it.

It's odd reading the live tweets where all seems bad for the offense, then to read the daily wrap up where it's more balanced.

Some of Walker's notes on yesterday's camp: http://espn.go.com/blog/miami-dolphins/post/_/id/8920/dolphins-camp-report-day-6

Anxious to see him in some games , if he builds from his positives from last year it could be an easy decision to go with the low cost option imo .

Good or bad it's best to take training camp reports with a huge grain of salt. Our media guys aren't terribly knowledgeable to begin with and with all the tweeting they do they miss half of practice staring at their notepads or mobile devices. Instead of giving play by plays I wish they'd just focus on the broader stuff, offense worked on this defense worked on that. They're out there desribing practice like it's a game and confusing the hell out of people.

I find it fascinating, and not in a negative way, that our 1st round pick winning battles in the trenches against our 7th round pick is being characterized as evidence of our offensive linemen turning things around.

This Terrence Fede fellow could end up a heck of a find.

I am looking forward to seeing him in preseason games.

I know this is pie in the sky homerism at its finest, however imagine that he is a breakout rookie. Miami's defensive line would be so sick.

Of course in reality expectations, I am hoping he can develop into a really good player in 3 years. He has the athletic ability.

Since we're going down memory lane tell us again why Ryan Mallett would be a great idea @15 overall and how he's going to be our next franchise QB. A little humor to break the tension would be nice ;)

Too long ago? I'll settle for your thoughts on how Mike Goodson from Oakland would be good addition to the roster at RB in 2013...

Thats the thing about camp. A few guys going 100 miles an hour to make the team can look pretty good vs established guys who are just going through the motions.
