Going by what I read, he looked okay on the sideline, just got taken out of the scrimmage as a precaution.
Richard Mathews was out of bounds on a 30 yard pass and he dropped another one. I hope he doesn't make the team. He's terribly inconsistent. I saw that inconsistency last year and it cost us the Carolina game.
I can just imagine week 6..."Damn..we only had 5k at our summer scrimmage" Armando has to find something . anything to be a sour puss about
They only showed Tannehill's first series against the 2 defense on NFLN. The tempo this year didn't appear to be talk like last year's tempo was all talk. This offense was running a no huddle offense was running at about 20 seconds between snaps. Aside from that, all the media reports about the center qb exchanges are not overblown. There is a defanite issue with center, I didn't see one snap in shotgun that wasn't too low or too high. How long is Pouncey out?
I will say, it sounds like Wheeler isn't faring any better...that's concerning. I know it's still early, but does anybody look for Tripp or Jenkins to replace him?
Did anybody notice 3 WR sets going on? Really strikes me as a strong alignment, particularly against New England (having S issues).
Koa Misi is also a question at MIKE. Misi, Wheeler, and Tannehill holding up are the big question marks because it may not be the OL that's the glaring issue this year.
Here are the scrimmage stats: http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2014/08/02/miami-dolphins-scrimmage-stats/ Some notable stats:
Damien Williams seems to be getting a lot of ball to try and see what he can do and many people seem to be impressed. His college tape looks good too. Apart from college issues he seems he could be a good player, surely he is in with a good shout to take Thomas or Gillislee's spot? If Lamar miller is impressing and IF Moreno comes back and looks solid then surely he'd be worth a shot
Just finished reading the play-by-play.... Positives: 1. We ran some read option 2. Running backs are actually being heavily involved in the passing game 3. Defensive line is just unreal (as usual) 4. The zone blocking schemes on running plays seem to be working (big shout out to the new OL coach) 5. Cortland Finnegan has sewn up that #2 CB spot very nicely Negatives: 1. Daniel Thomas needs to go. The experiment is over. 2. LBs looked bad in pass coverage. (Kyle Miller was beating Ellerbe...facepalm) 3. Too many incomplete passes/dropped balls/waste of downs 4. We still have a ways to go in terms of offensive chemistry (WRs running into each other...) 5. Snaps from center still leave a lot to be desired. Overall, a decent scrimmage for both sides.
Damien Williams can get you some yards but his problem is ball security .He needs to improve that if he wants to make the squad.
iยดm not sure on NFLN they there was some talk about us with footage of the scrimmage running, i doubt that will be available somewhere
nope... (the last time i gave an honest, unbias opinion, this place exploded. therefore, i am just going to be quiet)
Sounded like Ryan Tannehill was pretty on the mark today. If so, that's a nice development, and a pretty quick one based on practice reports. I wonder if this past week of camp there was maybe a little too much shuffling players, especially on the O-line. Philbin did say that they had planned to experiment this past week. I'll be interested to see if some of the offensive play, especially the line, starts to tighten up once they start settling guys into place.
there is a video with wake on nfl.com where they show some plays from the scrimmage (kind of) during his talk. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-playe...n-Dolphins-defense-I-couldn-t-be-more-excited
Didn't Tannehill have 2 TD's in 2 offensive possessions? Is there even a way for it to have been better than that? lol EDIT: reading some of the tweets again it looks like Tannehill had another possession which only went for a few yards, for what it's worth...
49ers DT Glenn Dorsey is out for the season with a torn biceps, maybe we can make use of our depth and send a DT over there for a pick
That other possession was a 3-and-out against the 1st team defense. Also, one of those TDs came in red zone drill, i believe. The ball started at the 20 yrd line. I have never really counted red zone drill TDs. (you only have to move the ball 20 yds) Again, it was a good scrimmage. But, i am just trying to give a fair assessment from what i read. I can't wait to actually watch the Falcons game, so i can see for myself.
Not sure how you cant count Red Zone TDs..thats the hardest area to move an offense. We were great between the 20s. Red Zone is money
I would like to thank everyone for posting all the information in this thread. It sounds like our offense has come along quite a lot and I am hoping that they just continue to gel. I have always felt that our defence would be stout. I always kind of like to look at the glass being half full (not the one I am currently working on though).
Chris Perkins @chrisperk ยท 41 min Today's top 3: QB Ryan Tannehill (best he's looked); DT Randy Starks (dominant); RB Lamar Miller (good runs, receptions)
How bout that Jordan Tripp, strip, fumble recovery, house.. Well done kid..I really enjoyed his college stuff, I didn't see any problem with anything quite frankly.
