Well generally those who get alot of Tackles head rounds 7+ But some may take them before hand. Depends on League scoring options.

If Maj left the setting the same for the 3rd league, then the following explanation applies to all 3 leagues.

    Individual Defensive Players (IDPs)

    Tackle Solo (.5)
    Tackle Assist (.25)
    Sack (3)
    Interception (4)
    Fumble Force (2)
    Fumble Recovery (3)
    Touchdown (6)
    Safety (4)
    Pass Defended (1.5)
    Block Kick (5)

    How does it work?

There are three types of IDP in Yahoo! Fantasy Football. D, which is any defensive player. DL, which is any defensive lineman or linebacker. DB, which is a corner or safety. In these leagues, we will be using 2 D players. Which means it doesn't matter what position you draft.

I created this IDP scoring system last year. It does not reward you for simply making tackles. Tackles are worth 0.5 points, which isn't much, and is only 0.25 for an assist. But if you are someone like Zach Thomas, and can make a huge impact on a game by making 15 tackles, that adds up to a nice chunk of change. The larger point awards are for game changing plays. I've set the points for each category to represent the level of impact it has on a the game's outcome and current team momentum. What this does, is it levels the playing field position-wise. You can play virtually any defensive position and receive adequate points if that player has a big week.

    Who should I draft?

To give you a good idea of which players did well in this scoring system, you should look at last years leaders. To do this...

    1. Go to you league homepage.
    2. Click on the 'PLAYERS' option from the top menu (the red menu)
    3. Sort your search by position, choose 'D'
    4. Click the 'Filter' button.
    5. Go to the far right column, and click the top where it says 'Fan Pts'

Now you should have the list of the top scoring IDPs from the 2007 season. Notice that among the top players, there is an even mixture of DBs and DLs.

Don't base your pre-draft IDP rankings solely off this list. You should try to anticipate who will have a big season, and go from there.

When should I draft my IDP?

If you used the previous method to search for the highest scoring players, then you will notice that the top scorer (Terrence McGee) only earned 126.07 points. Compare that to the top QB (Tom Brady), who earned 453.10 points. So common sense would tell you not to draft an IDP until later in the draft. I usually fill my entire offensive starters and bench players before drafting an IDP.

    Extra Info

IDP do not generate a massive amount of points throughout the season. The wise fantasy owner will utilize good matchup opportunities to capitalize on the good weeks. The owners that does this well will outperform the owner who keeps Terrence McGee and Brian Urlacher in their lineup. Because while McGee and Urlacher may provide a higher average weekly total, they will likely NEVER be the top weekly performer.

Offensive players can also score DEFENSIVELY. If Tom Brady throws an INT, and Wes Welker makes a tackle, however unlikely this may be, if you started Wes Welker, you get credit for that tackle.

IDP's do receive credit for kickoff and punt return yardage.

    Any other questions? Just ask.

They dont go early, and the best players to have are those who return kicks. Assuming the league counts return yards.

there's only 2 defensive players per team. and they're scoring is scaled down compared to offensive players. It's not a big deal really, bout like having an extra kicker.

All the league's full? I thought I saw something that said 3 leagues. I think I'm already in 2 of them.

I'm in 4 leagues total, so if there's no room in the 3rd one that's cool. However, if ya need another...let me know the details.

I think the only way that can happen for me, is to be on the football
    field FOR REAL!

I guess no 4th league is happening, but that's OK, I really should worry about the 8 leagues I already have joined.

Does anyone know if anybody does a money league here at thephins ?

A friend of mine (who is a Lions fan) started one on his Lions forum years ago, and I've been in it for like 6 years. (1 championship out of it!)

We each pay 35, and the league champ gets 275, runner up gets 75, 3rd place gets 50, and the regular season champ (#1 seed entering playoffs) gets 20 as a little bonus of their accomplishment. Always my favorite league of the year.

I like to barrage managers with lopsided trades and eventually people make a mistake (or surrender, whichever) and click accept. Well, it only happened in a few of my leagues anyways. :tongue2:

Mostly, I don't respond to other managers' taunts and still manage to win. And whenever there's a league where you definitely see managers who are hard core homers or really are a fan of a particular player (i.e. Chambers), I specifically target that player and charge a king's ransom to give them up.

In that case, done. If anyone's interested, head on over to Yahoo and sign up. It's a 10 team league, but I can expand to 12 if someone gets left out.

    League ID: 241435
    Password: sparcells

Here's the tentative roster info and draft information:
    1 QB
    3 WR
    2 RB
    1 TE
    1 WR/RB
    1 K
    1 DEF
    6 BN

Standard Yahoo scoring, rushing/receiving touchdowns are 6 points and passing touchdowns are 4 points. Points per reception is on. If anyone doesn't like this, or would like to see 2 WRs instead of 3 because of this, I can change it.

New draft time is Sunday, August 10, 8 PM EST.
