LeBatard gets a slight last giggle on his suspension. He played a bevy of interesting messages on the "Talkback Line" from a very interesting area code. Question for the Ohio people here....are ALL Spanish speaking people to you guys "mexican"?
That's actually an interesting point. To most of the country spanish-speaking does mean Mexican. And along with that comes comes the usual baggage of any relatively poorer and less educated minority. I never realized that growing up in Miami. In Miami the Hispanics/Latinos you meet are just as likely (or even more likely than most) to be your lawyer/doctor/mayor as any other race or ethnicity. That's not the case in most of the country. In most of the country, the vast majority of Hispanic/Latinos you meet are employed as housekeepers, landscapers or construction workers. Obviously there are some very successful ones, but they're the exception rather than the rule. Most everybody tries to avoid being prejudice, but the reality is that if most everybody people see in a certain group or class is poor and less educated odds are they'll come to accept and believe the stereotype.
Let's not go crazy, you're talking him up a bit much if he's only as good as a broken clock and you're saying 2% of his stuff is good.
So Shawn Marion signs with the Cavs, hopefully in a reduced minutes role he can be a quality back up. All these guys should at least be good for the youth's to look up to to learn how to be real professionals.
What exactly? Bandwagoners hoping off the wagon? That happened the week Bron announced his return to Cleveland. As for Heatfreak, there was never any real traffic on that site.
Heatfreak had a decent run till the Heat won their first championship in this latest era. Then it died.
Honestly Sec should do a Heat opinion blog. His work on that site was very entertaining and informative IMO.
Heat and Leandro Barbosa supposedly have "mutual interest" per Alex Kennedy. Haven't seen the guy play in quite a while. He got anything left Sec?
Improved 3 pt. shooter...still has decent speed. Not a player for the rotation. Just bottom of the roster depth.
Expect a Knicks move before camp opens. They have 15 guaranteed contracts and Thanisis Antetokounmpo rejected two offers from euro teams. If Greek Freak Jr comes to camp on an unguaranteed contract then the Knicks I believe lose his rights if they have to cut him. Either he will be stashed somewhere (Europe/d league) or the Knicks have to make a roster move. Expect one of the PGs to go IMO. Phil always tried to limit that position to 2 players on the roster. Losing Antetokounmpo for nothing would be horrible asset allocation. Also NYK hired Jim Cleamons who was an assist on Phil's Bulls and Lakers teams. He's followed Jackson everywhere pretty much since the early 80s so I guess this was inevitable. Good move.
From Barry Jackson: I don't really get why Jordan Crawford is still out there, but if the Heat can get him they absolutely should. They are seriously lacking players who can create their own shot and Crawford can do that. Okafor would also be a great pickup IMO and I'd be interested in Blatche as well.
Jordan Crawford is out there because he has the jr smith factor without being as good. He's a headache.
Per Windy, Suns are trying to break up the Love trade and have offered Bledsoe and other pieces. No information on whether or not Minny is considering the deal
Rich Paul is Bledsoe's agent. I find it really hard to believe he'd blow up sending Love to Cleveland just to get Bledsoe to Minny. Maybe. I just don't buy it.
I...just can't believe Minny thinks a Rubio / Bledsoe pairing is smart long term. That Cleveland deal makes so much sense for them. As a Cavs fan I want Love - but keeping Wiggins isn't a bad consolation prize. So it's hard to really get too worked up. Feels like Flip just trying to gain some last minute leverage or something. He's played this entire thing through the media anyway.
Well I couldn't ask for a better outcome. Rubio, LaVine, Wiggins, Dieng is a good core to build around.
At his press conference, Kevin Love said that LeBron called him soon after the Essay was released to tell him that he wanted him in Cleveland and that the Cavs were working on a trade. Rage level rising at this hypocrite, smug douchebag.
