If they were related to the system sure. I love Tannehill and give him a lot of tge benefit of the doubt but those two bad plays were just really bad new system or not. (Near INT to Sims and INT to Hartline) Im generally encouraged by the offense though and I don't exoect those mistakes every week or he'd have thrown 32 interceotions last season.
Has there ever been a kicker on a team that place kicked and punted? It would be nice to have the extra roster spot.
I thought the catch you are talking about was a misplaced ball by Tannehill. AND even if Wallace keeps his foot in bounds he was not going anywhere. Dallas had three defenders closing in on him quick style. Not that I am enamored with Wallace... but Tannehill does a horrible job of throwing his receivers open.
Maybe. Unless this new job of Dan's will be an apprenticeship of sorts. Allowing him to get his feet wet and learn the operations of the football team to eventually take a John Elway like role in the future. Kind of hard to give him that job and those responsibilities without the experience. How do you answer for that if you're Stephen Ross? Or perhaps it's as bogus as it sounds and they're paying Dan Marino because he's Dan Marino. He's beloved and it's an avenue to shore up some good publicity. Given Elway's success and Marino's interest in becoming apart of the franchise, I suspect the former may be the strongest possibility.
None that I recall. However, I've always wondered why no team has ever tried to make that happen? The closest I can figure is, if that duel threat kickerpunter ever went down with an injury, it would make things complicated in game. Then again, maybe that's worth the risk. It's not as though kickers and punters experience frequent injuries.
That all well and good, but I just don't think Marino has the same head for football business that Elway has. jmho
Didnt really get to watch the entire game because of the quality service I get from NFL.com... let me say this, I REALLY want Tannehill to be the guy. I want him to be our franchise QB for years to come. I love his attitude... but jesus his play smells of nothing more then journeyman QB. I really hope I am wrong but that is the feel I get from him. Jay Fiedler at his best...
And the difference between that play and the time Marshall ran out of bounds is Wallace had his back to the sideline, and Marshall had the sideline and miles of open field in his sights, and just seemed to blow a tire and swerve to the left and go out of bounds without anyone or anything prodding him to do so.
Didn't the kicker we just brought in because Sturgis was injured, just get injured tonight(Potter)? Then again that could have been anyone since we had to survive the dallas broadcasters most of the night for some strange reason. I likely heard it wrong.
The reason he does that is he has no pass coverage skills. Hitting and tackling is all he brings. He really should be used as an 8th in the box only, but every DB gets put into coverage on some plays.
It's not based on anything more than me watching how each guy progressed and handled themselves throughout their careers both personal and professional. That's why I stated it was just my humble opinion.
Anticipated Hickey mistakes coming up: Trying to sneak Damien Williams, Fede, Anthony Johnson, and McCain on practice squad. Not adding meaningful players from last round of cuts at positions of need? I hope I am wrong.
I don't know if Gator Hoskins can make the team based on just one incredible play, but I hope he does. Prior to his injury, the media said he was having a solid camp though. So hopefully he's done enough to warrant a serious look. Lord knows our tight end group has plenty of openings. I'm just not sold on Dion Sims as a receiving threat. You get Clay and Hoskins on the field together and I think Lazor has some serious options there. Did everyone see Jordan Tripp get blasted by the Cowboys fullback? Pancaked is not the right word... That could put to bed any talk of him starting any time soon. He's just not ready yet...strength wise at the point of attack, just not there yet. Damien Williams and Damian Williams were two of the better offensive players for the Dolphins tonight. They should make the team IMO. And Darkwa should make the practice squad. The Dolphins D line missed Anthony Johnson in the second half as he was out due to an injury. He's another guy that warrants a roster spot, along with McCain and Fede. Hopefully the injuries to him and Fede haven't scared the coaches away from putting them on the 53. I was kind of rooting for Fields to make the game winning field goal... his kick offs weren't too shabby. Reshad Jones is a blur. He plays safety the way it should be played... Troy Polamalu like... he's the one moving twice as fast as everyone else on the defensive side of the ball. Of the three guys who are going to be out for the start of the season (Jones, Pouncey, Jordan), it's looking like Reshad will be the one that we miss the most. Can Matt Moore teach Tannehill how to throw the deep ball? I don't know what that was to Wallace in the first half... who was at fault... but I KNOW what that was from Moore to Williams in the 2nd half. Sheer beauty. Now, Moore's read option keeper on the other hand...
Others are not much better, at least he makes tackles in the open field. The first kickoff was horrible. Others were meh, but Potter was not much better either. Neither can kick out of endzone. Yes, I noticed that too, he plays faster than anyone else on the field. Ended up missing an open field tackle because of it. So the concern is, he will play wild like Wheeler. I did not think Tannehill was good at read option either, and does not seem quick or fast either. Matt Moore has put together two really good games. Makes you wonder whether he deserves a start with the first unit over Tannehill. Wallace had a really good game. Hartline had another poor game, second in a row. He is useless at this point.
Im sure you could find a few clips of ZT getting blown up too. Its football and sometimes it just happens for a variety of reasons. Id need to see it become a trend before I'd say he shouldn't get starter reps because of it.
One play either way isn't enough to say he's not ready. I'm hoping for Darkwa and Williams to both make the 53. We should keep 4 RBs. I'd rather those two than two of Ireland's busts, Thomas and Gillislee.
I wish we did not play the Cowboys every preseason, or almost every. We have to listen to their crappy announcers when the game is in Dallas and tonight we had The Three Stooges from somewhere in the 2nd quarter on. The only way to escape the agony that are those 3 idiots is for us not to play Dallas I guess.
When was the last player who Miami cut with the hope of putting them on practice squad that was signed by another team that turned out to be a good player?
Lol at the guys complaining about the dolphins commentators getting cut off and replaced with the cowboys crew....yes the cowboys crew is bad, but our crew is the worst out there and i say that without knowing a lot of local media crews....what nonsense they produced again in the short time they were on air for me is brutal, absolutely brutal
SMDH at any Dolphins fan who would rather have the game covered by the Cowboys announcing crew and cameras. I hope you enjoyed the interviews of Dez Bryant and Brandon Carr while the game was going on. I guess that would be better than seeing any Dolphins players interviewed by Kim Bokamper. I hope you enjoyed their cameras repeatedly panning the Cowboys sideline and zeroing on The Three Cowboys Stooges in the booth like every 5 minutes. Not only did we get to listen to their inane babbling we got to look at their mugs too.
who knows which bull**** we would have had to listen too, if it would have been the dolphins feed, if there was any meaningful interview on the sideline, which i doubt, we will read about it today , seriously in this short of time they were on, griese was wondering about romo's college eastern or western illinois, they called ellerbe daniel, they said deion sims has replaced charles clay as linebacker, called an interception on that incomplete pass in the flats, just of the top of my head, the cowboys crew actually talked about tannehill in a very positive way, when will they finally replace these clowns at the booth...unreal
Our crew is bad in an entertaining way. They don't annoy me, the dumb things they say make me laugh. Griese makes Nat look like a HOF announcer
