The same was true with Potter, and Carpenter. Sturgis was better. We have not had a good kicker in a while.
Per the team website, 3 cuts are in: OT Steven Baker, S Demetrius Wright, and John Potter (waived/injured).
So no touchy-feely? As I've always said, the NFL season is like a submarine, it puts pressure on teams each games and if there is a weak spot it breaks costing a W, get the best guy we can find even at FG kicker
Not too bad. He was 13th in average starting position (22.2) although being 5th in pct of kicks returned at 61.6%. Apparently the Cards covered pretty well. For comparative purposes, last year Sturgis was 21st in avg start at 21.2, and 16th in pct returned at 47.3%. The best kicker in the league for TBs is Graham Gano of Carolina. Only 20% of his kicks get returned. Best for average start is Michael Koenen of Tampa Bay with 18.4
I don't know what the reasoning is, but James Gayle belongs on a football team. I would sign him if I were Miami.
Actually, if we needed a third quarterback, it's not a bad idea. He's better than Quinn and can certainly run the read option.
New Orleans has cut a couple of interesting guys. But on the Dolphin front, Barry Jackson is reporting Binns will be cut.
I really haven't seen many guys on the waiver wire that interest me which isn't totally surprising I guess as it's the second round of cuts where you see teams cut guys they really would have rather kept.
THAT actually adds on to the pain of last year, the QB that beat us twice isn't even good enough to stick around the next year as a 3rd string QB....damn
The problem I have with this line of thinking is Lewis really didn't do anything against us. Their defense and running game is what beat us.
Losing to him and a rookie for the jets at home when playoffs are on the line was unacceptable, good reason why Philbin and Tannehill are still auditioning for the future.
Reddick, the undrafted free agent linebacker out of UNC from last year for the Saints, and Johnson, their 6th round dl from last year were among the cuts today.
Per Barry Jackson Miami made the following moves: Cuts - Armon Binns, Brady Quinn, Brett Brackett, Steven Clarke, Rakim Cox, Cory Grissom*, Tyler Larsen, and Ryan Spadola. IR - A.J. Francis, Arthur Lynch, and Mike Gillislee. * - Wasn't he signed yesterday?

He got dinged up in the last game and probably wouldn't have been able to play in 2 days. Evan Wilson and Kyle Miller are healthy and will probably log the most TE snaps on Thursday.
Between Brackett's release and Egnew's release I fully believe the Dolphins are in the market for a waiver wire tight and. And I also believe they're privately pissed that NE managed to get Tim Wright added as a tack-on to their trading Logan Mankins to the Bucs for a 4th round pick.
Give me Hoskins out of those three for sure. Out of just Miller and Wilson, I'm not sure who I'd want less.
Privately the Bucs were getting disgruntled with Wright as he had been dropping balls left and right all camp.
Ah, and so ends the long awaited, dare I say highly anticipated, Dolphin career of Brady Quinn. What could have been Brady. What could have been.
We need to scour the transaction wire for WRs and corners with size, both units are lacking it right now. If Pats cut Brian Tyms I would bring him back in a heartbeat.
