That's not the point. It's the commitment level to improvement. It's baseline, not trying everything you can do to get better.

Totally. It's amusing how some people keep on blowing that way our of proportion, but if it floats their boat, by all means, have at it.

Its not like hitting the jugs machine...your asking the man to run 5-10 gassers after practice...really ?? you think that's a good idea to do it on a regular basis ? I'm guessing some may have not actually played the game.

Exactly, he doesn't feel it's his fault, and I can't argue with him.

Got it. So there's no middle ground whatsoever between only four or five deep balls per WEEK, and twenty extra deep balls per DAY. Thanks for clearing that up.

I cannot WAIT until Joe Philbin is fired. I will celebrate.

Sounds to me like he said "I'd rather my starting QB can't hit my starting WR on a deep ball than risk the slim chance that my starting WR pulls a hammy."

I do think health has something to do with it. He also explained it at the end. It's not complicated. Wallace is open. Just get him the ball. At this point I'm not sure forcing Wallace to run 20 extra deep passes will do anything.

They don't need to run it 20 times a day. But even 2-3 times per day as opposed to 4-5 times per week? Just going by my own personal experience when it comes to learning and mastering new things, having multiple repetitions each day is extremely helpful.

Eh, maybe. I can see why you would think that. I can also see Philbin's point of view. I think at this point the issue between them is timing in game speed and I'm just not sure having Wallace running in a straight line 20 times will solve anything. Really this has a lot to do with Tannehill's lack of anticipation, IMO.

That's slightly over-simplifying it IMO. Timing is crucial with RT...a poorly run route pretty much negates his accuracy on long floaters. Bullets, no problem, slight adjustment needed. Being open in the wrong spot for the throw (and as I'm told/understand it, the system is spot-heavy), pretty much blows it.

Maybe RT can learn to make up for it and see it better, but he hasn't yet. The last incompletion deep to Wallace before the Dallas game, RT's throw was slightly to the right of where Mike was...in the Dallas game, it was to the left. Was he thinking too much on the Dallas throw, trying to adjust from the previous miss?

So tired of the deep ball bull****. I can't wait for Wallace to go away so we don't have this ****ing distraction anymore. Fix the ****ing run game and the O-line, the deep ball is ****ing scenery.

    Keyword: We.

It seems Philbin intentionally chose his wording. I truly think he calls out, not only Wallace, but Tannehill in this excerpt. I am not Philbin's biggest supporter (I do not necessarily dislike the guy, either), but I think he chose his words carefully.

What do you do as a HC? You certainly do not call out your pricey wideout via the media. From the non-observant, it's almost as if he champions Wallace. He becomes Wallace's biggest supporter; especially, in Wallace's eyes. He does not say Wallace cannot put in extra work once the practice sessions end. There are rules in place to not "overwork" these guys, anyhow. So he is also letting the NFL know he is following the rules.

Tannehill probably doesn't even warrant any unnecessary ***-chewing. He probably gets the nurtured version of discipline. Quite honestly, he's probably a great guy to be around.

But what does he lack? Fire? Cajones? Whatever the hell you want to call it, Philbin probably thinks he needs a fire lit under his ***; catch his QB's attention a little. And this statement may not necessarily be related to just deep passes. Philbin is probably talking about ALL of the throws. And he is not wrong.

A coach is a friend, a father figure, a big brother, etc., etc. He has to figure out what he needs to do to get the best output from his players. The dynamic is not unlike being a parent. We want our children to do well in school. Be good citizens. Not do some of the stupid things we may have done in our youth. HOW do we get them to listen to us to ultimately get the results we desire? A cookie?

Results are what matter. How they are achieved can be a little complicated at times.

Philbin is finally looking more like a head coach and less like a deer in the headlights. It may not ultimately matter, but I think he is giving it a good run.....

I was at Little Creek, Camp LeJeune, and Napoli. Didn't see a damned ship my entire time in! Wish I would have!

I'd go out to bars, talk to the ladies, tell 'em I was in the Navy. They'd ask what ship I was on. My response was always, "We have ships??"

Yes I believe he's thinking to much, and that probabaly stems from the pressure to make it successful...somebody like Dan might be able to get thru to him and tell him it's time to tell everyone to fu@& off and just throw the ball, he's got a lot of arm talent, he doesn't need to put arc on the ball, just throw it baby..

If by that you mean, coke, booze, and strippers, then I'd have to agree

"So Mr Marino, how did you did you do it?"

"That is Dan, and the next round is on you, by the hip. let it rip, get that damn ball out of your hands and into guys who can make things happen hands"

"Gee, okay Dan, uhm I'm a lil nervous about doing that"

    "Kids these days"

It may be what he needs, go to the wild side a bit..Dan and Ryan just go out and just get hammered.lol... I know it's not his style but he needs to be more vocal and animated, I thought that's why he visited Pennington at his home last year..maybe Dan can help.

Is there any chance this is just a Henne/Marshall type scenario where these guys just don't connect? Maybe not through the fault of either? The team had to have known that Tannehill doesn't have the best deep ball (which is neither a positive or a negative) and they go out and get a guy that is a deep threat. Could be just a mismatch in the personnel dept. Not like that hasn't happened with this team.

Tanny needs help with his deep throws why should the responsibility fall on Wallace ? Tanny needs more reps and either he or the coaches need to make that happen...all of the receivers should stay after practice and all of them can run a fly or a double..take a 5 or 10 yard lead to simulate Wallace's speed if they need to. Tanny can't throw 50 deep passes either or he won't last very long some moderation is needed but one thing should be clear Wallace is doing his job by getting open...and not 2 yards open but 5+ roasted cornerback open..could he get better at tracking and other technical issues? absolutely but it's not his job to "fix" Tanny.

Wasnt Wallace recovering from a Hammy injury already? I dont know..I guess Im old school. Id be like..ok Ryan..we gonna run this over and over until we can do this with our eyes closed.

But..I do get the injury thing. That route calls for Wallace to gas it...maybe doing that route that often is bad for you.

Wouldnt it be like a pitcher throwing as hard as he can 20-30 times?

For them to get the same game type timing..hes gotta run it the same way he does in games.

Its only the deep ball to Wallace. RT27s deep ball to everyone else is fine.

Well thing is..... Philadelphia threw it deep so many times, it opened the field and allowed them to run so many plays.... I think Lazor wants to do the same here........ hopefully, the idea is they're just not showing their cards and come Week 1, Tannehill and Wallace connect for 15+ and 20+ 2-3 times..
