I'm just glad that math has been re-written to where there's no middle ground between 4, 5...and 100.

    1...2...3...4...5...100.

That's how it goes, now. And thank god, ya know? It's about time. Thank you Joe Philbin. You're an awesome coach.

    I wonder though....

Im coming to the thought that....for what ever reason....Tannehill feels like he has to be perfect with his throw to Wallace, and maybe thats because he doesnt trust Wallace to adjust in any way if its not perfect. Wallace really sucks at adjusting when running that go route. When I saw D Williams run under that throw from Moore...to me...it looked like he tracked the flight of the ball and adjusted perfect. It just seems like Wallace says...I can burn it....you better put right HERE.

I think you're right in that Wallace's ability to adjust on the football is inconsistent. I don't know if this has affected Tannehill or not.

Nah VT, the problem is Tannehill is just trying to do to much and doesn't see it nor feel it well, he has the throw in his repertoire, he just has to throw it on instinct.

Yes I think it's safe to say.

I gave him three training camps to impress me. And I didn't start out from a negative position. I started out very positive on him.

Tanny talked about last year that he feels added pressure when he sees Wallace wide open deep...reminds me of pool players that run the table then scratch on the 9..hopefully he will get over it.

Is it me or does it sound like Joe was throwing Tanny under the bus?

“…The game’s not that complicated. The guy’s open. We got to get him the ball.”

"We" meaning Tanny. Judging by Philbin's statements it sounds as if he thinks its a QB problem

For all the deep ball love that Moore receives has he actually connected long with Wallace either in a game or practice anymore than Tannehill has?
AFAIK both Moore and Tannehill have consistently connected deep in training camp with everyone bar Wallace and I would be curious to know if this is an ongoing theme back to his Pittsburgh days with quarterbacks not named Rothlisberger.

He's openly showing his frustration with Tannehill, yes I agree. And I have no problem with that.

I do however have a problem with his excuse-making from a coaching standpoint, justifying the fact that they as coaches have done virtually nothing to increase the chemistry between the two players on the basis of there being no middle ground between 4 or 5 throws per week and 100 throws per week. I have a problem with his being that kind of an *******.

You don't have to convince me I think Philbin's a joke of a coach ever since Hard Knocks. I know it's edited and might not be a true reflection but my suspicions turned out mostly true. He focuses on things a head coach really doesn't need to be focusing on. Got rid of damn good players for inauspicious reasons, etc.

Then I look for stories touting what he did in Green Bay and find he was a glorified personal assistant. Meh.

I defend Ross from the most ardent criticism but hiring Philbin was definitely a mistake.

i'm with ck. What if they just tried 2 extra throws after practice every day,,, how may practices have we had this spring/summer? What if they tried 3 a day,, 4, by golly what if they went hog wild and tried 5 every day after practice, do the math it would add up and could help.
Philbins answer there was defensive and kinda condescending, could have easily been handled better.

Some of the criticism was crap like he doesn't care about the team, he's actively trying to ruin the franchise etc. That's just silly.

He's definitely made some bad decisions. They all do. At one point SF'ans wanted the Yorks' heads on a stick. The Bidwill's are too cheap and will never field a good team etc. Fan opinion of owners are usually tied to the performance of the GM and coach. They get it wrong a few times before getting it right.

By the way can that number be confirmed? Just 3-4 bombs a week? I'd expect 2-4 a practice at least.

Number came from Tannehill himself. Said he throws more than that but only 4 or 5 per week are specifically to Wallace.

Chemistry has nothing to do with it. It's either a bad throw or a bad route, or both. When a WR is running a straight line an has beaten his coverage, and it's an incompletion by 5 yards, it's a bad throw. There is no chemistry to it.

Hard Knocks did it for me unfortunately. And I've not seen much since to change my mind.

I could not even understand how the guy I saw on TV got thru the job interview.

But can your negative waves be fixed? That's what i want to know. Needs must and i need to know. If you really have no faith then maybe you can believe that Miami have coaches (experts?) or a Hall Of Fame Dolphin Quarterback that might be employed by the Dolphins than can provide insight, expertise and maybe a little coaching into the mechanics of the afore mentioned art of throwing deep, who knows! Personally...these stat merchants on here can shove them where the sun does'nt shine purely on the basis its one pass...an individual..on its own play that requires a strong arm and a head sense that says..."incoming!!!!" Its a shell fired from a cannon basically. Its a play that requires timing and thats it if the QB has an arm. Going by from posts is Tannehills downfall and he's a bust. Shove the stats. Im sooooo not interested in stats. Its one play that needs tweeking. Someone called Marino might have decent input on the mechanics, body posture and the mentality but who knows. Stats? pleeeease! Stats are for Mathematicians sometimes. Sports are played on grass, not on a calculator.

Exactly. Mike Tomlin was an underdog for the Steeers job. Be honest, most thought it was a token Rooney interview. And then he's hired. We hear he blew everyone away in the interview. Then we see him in action and he absolutely deserved it.

Then we watch Hard Knocks and I'm like, WTF? How did this guy win the job. He better be a damned offensive genius.

Nope. I still wonder how he got the job. If anything I think he owes Aaron Rodgers a percentage of his paycheck honestly.

Because of those doing the interviewing.

Its like asking Goofy and Carrottop to choose the most deserving Nobel prize winner.

    There will be.... errors.

Maybe if Tomlin hadn't rapped all his answers.

Yep. This was clearly a problem last year. He is way too hesitant (lacking confidence) to release the ball on deeper passes. I really think it is a mental issue.

But, the fact that they haven't worked extra hard to connect on the deep ball this season is a problem. I get the not running 50 yard sprints - but the coaches can provide circumstances for them to get extra work on the deep ball. It's just ridiculous. RT has little confidence firing the ball downfield.

Maybe they hit them just fine in practice. If that is the case, no amount of extextra throws will improve it. Its on Ryan.

I'm over this talk and the season hasn't started. I just don't care. Score TDs and win. Don't care if it means methodically going down the field or throwing a 70 yard bomb. I just don't care. I'm tired of the specialist WR. Just make plays and win.

I wanted Tomlin bad, I was at the the Viking game the year before he became coach and watched him on the sideline with that defense, they killed us defensively and I couldn't keep my eyes off him for three hours..

Yeah that's fine and all. But we're talking about head coaches here.
Wait, what are you talking about again?

Mike Tomlin is an example I bring up when I say a coach doesn't need to be fiery, but they can be intense. Even if quietly. When we criticize Philbin for his lack of intensity, we don't mean he should be Pete Carroll doing somersaults on the field. Yes Dungy and Lovie are both quiet mild mannered guys. But their players take to them. Our players complain to the media that their coach's personality rubs off on them. Huge difference.

There are many different styles to coach. And they all work. Our team's coach, his style? Isn't working.

Based on the beat writers, they hit them in practice as often as they hit them in a game.
