Miller has been around for a year now, was on the PS last year for most or all the season, right? I see him as similar to Sims and Lynch, and since he's been kept around I think the team must kind of like him.
I don't really know Wright that well... but the Patriots targeting him scares me lol.. When they went hard after Welker it puzzled me, I knew he was pretty good, not great... and then he became great for the Patriots. lol
That sounds like the Hickey ******* behavior that was rumored. That's unnecessary and inappropriate to say, and it doesn't really even make a lot of sense. Ireland didn't generally keep guys around too long for no real reason.
From the quote in question, it sounds like the coach is a dick, not Hickey. Seems like a scare tactic from a position coach.
I agree with you in spirit but I think it's important to point out that it was a COACH that said that. You should not say that to a player. If you're unhappy with something the player did or is doing you let him know, but saying something like that isn't necessary. And my guess is that it was Ken O'Keefe. And if I had to guess who he was talking to I would say Rishard Matthews. Of course the other possibility is Jeff Nixon talking to Daniel Thomas.
Its not something they should say...but I can totally imagine them saying it to light a fire under someones arse...
I don't mind lighting a fire under someone but I think it's inappropriate to overtly confirm suspicions of favoritism to a player. You get the best results out of your players if they all believe this is a pure meritocracy.
I agree completely. First of all..that player is a Miami Dolphin. Hes doesnt play for the Miami Jeff Ireland's. Hes a fin...and they should all be treated like family as far as Im concerned. You perform and excel you stay part of the family. If not, youll be let go....but it doesnt matter who drafted or signed you. Thats bull****
It's a stupid tactic to use, but I think its fallacy to think these guys don't know favoritism, and politics aren't involved in this business, or any other. Just like if the boss that hired me leaves, I know there is no loyalty to the new one, and I have to earn my stripes all over again.
Your right on SICK... Fact is ...when their is this much money on the line, politics will always be part of the sport. I think their was a rift between Ireland's front office and the football side. With jobs and millions of dollars on the line...there's almost a nepotism in football.
You know.... Heres a name that might be interesting to follow. Christian Ponder. His days are clearly numbered in Minnesota. Now..I dont think he gets cut...but why not offer up a trade for him. Someone like him Id love to see maybe develop into Lazors offense...I think hes good enough to replace Matt Moore as a backup at some point
Tyler Larsen I really hope that Tyler Larsen clears waivers and makes our practice squad. I watched this kid play so many games and he is a mauler in the run game and holds his own in pass protection. He also played very well against Aaron Donald all week during practice at the Senior Bowl and during the game. I wish we could have seen some reps of him with the starters.
There's a difference between suspecting favoritism and having it overtly confirmed to you by your coach.
I'm not interested. I would take on Matt Barkley because he's been learning this offense two years in Philly, and learning it from better teachers than we have here.
Not in "football world" It's all about tough guy this, tough guy that...light a fire, get em going, piss them off etc...
the only way we get barkley is via trade imo, if he is cut he will be claimed by someone before its our turn in the pecking order anyone seen the latest hard knocks episode, keith armstrong yelling at his special teams in the meeting room and bryan cox laying into hageman...classic
My statement or the statement in question? Of course there is no basis hence us all Agreeing it's a bad strategy. But I've heard that and worse in the locker room. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was actually thinking about Barkley about 3 weeks ago and wanted to ask if we would be interested.. I think Philadelphia would only part with him for a 4th rounder which is what they invested on him to begin with. I don't like his arm though.
Bill Lazor isn't the guy directly teaching the offense to the players though. The position coaches are doing most of that. And even if you consider Lazor, statement stands. The Eagles also had Pat Shurmur and Chip Kelly taking direct hand in that teaching.
Trying to think of some guys we should keep an eye on.... QB Matt Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles QB Sean Renfree, Atlanta Falcons RB Lache Seastrunk, Washington Redskins RB Evan Royster, Washington Redskins RB Zurlon Tipton, Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Grimes, Houston Texans WR Brian Tyms, New England Patriots WR Dontrelle Inman, San Diego Chargers TE Josh Hill, New Orleans Saints TE Nic Jacobs, New Orleans Saints TE MarQueis Gray, Cleveland Browns TE Emmanuel Ogbuehi, Cleveland Browns TE Alex Bayer, St. Louis Rams TE Demetrius Harris, Kansas City Chiefs OT Rogers Gaines, New York Giants OT Andrew Gardner, Philadelphia Eagles DT Davon Coleman, Dallas Cowboys DT Travian Robertson, Atlanta Falcons DT Stefan Charles, Buffalo Bills DE Ikponmwosa Igbinosun, Buffalo Bills DE James Gayle, (nobody) DE Kenny Anunike, Denver Broncos DE Joe Kruger, San Diego Chargers LB Patrick Bailey, Tennessee Titans LB Justin Cole, Oakland Raiders LB Henoc Muamba, Indianapolis Colts LB Ty Powell, Buffalo Bills LB Steven Johnson, Denver Broncos CB Tyler Patmon, Dallas Cowboys CB Marcus Burley, Indianapolis Colts CB Chris Davis, San Diego Chargers CB Jordan Sullen, Denver Broncos CB Malcolm Butler, New England Patriots S Malcolm Bronson, Kansas City Chiefs S Cooper Taylor, New York Giants S Josh Aubrey, Cleveland Browns
Three Dolphins on the roster buddle http://espn.go.com/blog/miami-dolphins/post/_/id/9500/three-dolphins-on-the-roster-buddle Buddle? They let that go?
Curious to see if the Dolphins have an interest in RB Kenjon Barner of Philadelphia. Once again the Eagles look like they have a glut of players at that position. They will definitely be keeping LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles. They will likely also keep Chris Polk. Henry Josey has had an extremely successful preseason and I think they keep him as a fourth. They've also been working Damaris Johnson as a scatback and I think he makes the roster as a 5th/6th wide receiver based on his work there. That probably leaves Kenjon Barner out in the cold. He knows the system and he's good for outside zone runs. I don't know how good he is at inside zone. Dolphins could also have some interest in Matthew Tucker from Philadelphia. He's got 24 runs for 125 yards and 4 TDs this preseason. He was with the Eagles last year when Lazor was there. He ran 26 times for 91 yards and 2 TDs that preseason.
Since Fox probably won't make it, what do you think of Andrew Wentworth (Vikings) as a swing tackle? From what I've seen he's likely headed for their PS.
I honestly haven't looked at him. Is he rated high or something? Also I think just in general you may see a focus on what players get cast out of Philadelphia. For example, what about an Andrew Gardner? This is a guy I had pegged as a low level free agent I would have signed as he had experience under John Benton in Houston. But now he's also got experience in Philadelphia with Chip Kelly's playbook, and he's graded out well thus far (haven't seen his final game yet). He's been a left tackle there. What if he gets cut because the Eagles figure Matt Tobin can be their backup at both LT and LG?
