Losing Logan Mankins for the first game is a blow to the Patriots for sure. And Miami has a good defensive front too so we could take advantage.

I sure would like a lean Dion Jordan running around covering Gronkowski, not sure who the hell is gonna cover that dude..lol.

Dumb coaching decision right there..beef him up and put him in a three point stance why don't you, oh that's what you did...dude is a freak of nature, a gazzelle, could explode in all directions from anywhere on the field..

I know he messed up, but if they didn't pressure him to gain weight and Just left his beautiful *** alone, maybe he would be covering Gronk, and I would be excited as hell for that matchup.

Dolphins likely to be without Mike Pouncey, Reshad Jones and Dion Jordan. Pats now going to be without Logan Mankins.

I had been thinking Miami would surprise the Patriots in Week 1 because of how new their offense is, how the Pats generally start out a little slower than they finish, the home crowd, home heat, etc.

But the fact that the offense can't even execute right now has put me firmly in favor of the Patriots winning this game.

Belichick has a hot hand lately with TE's. Gronk, Hernandez, and Graham (he offered Graham a contract while he was still playing basketball, Graham declined and then played a season of football).

I need to see Tannehill set a tone on offense and that comes from an early scramble run for a first down..I mentioned it a lot last year and never saw it..I hope someone lets him know the importance..he's got to use every resource necessary to compete and stay in this game.

I don't believe it's even possible for Belichick to offer a contract to Jimmy Graham while he's still in college basketball.

I think the easiest answer is the most likely. The Patriots spent an entire week practicing and playing against a souped up and much better executed version of the offense Miami will try and throw at them in Week 1. Give them credit. That's hella good planning on their part.

Miami's BEST hope is for the defense to completely stymie the Patriots offense somehow, and on offense for Mike Wallace to get behind the secondary and Tannehill to hit him. If Miami's defense plays balls out, and the offense is able to hit on one equalizer play...it's possible.

But just as likely that Miami gets routed.

point taken on that patriot practice set up..

I think we match up with them pretty well besides Gronk, that's why I wished we had Dion taped to his ***..

Why do you say we cant execute? In Game 3 against the Cowboys our starting offense in 5 possessions Generated 14 first downs and converted all of their 3rd down chances. Ill agree they didnt get the ball in the endzone..so...I would agree that they need to do better at Scoring TDs....but to say we cant execute is a little overboard in my opinion.

We also ran the ball very well against Dallas....who had a better run defense last year then NE did.

New England was the 3rd worst run defense in the league last season.

The starting offense had 5 possessions and produced a field goal, two turnovers and two punts. Altogether in 9 possessions they've produced 13 points (1 TD, 2 FG), 3 turnovers and 3 punts.

They're not executing the offense. It's being communicated poorly, it's being called poorly at the line of scrimmage, the pace isn't even close to what they want, poor decisions are being made by the quarterback with regularity. They're regularly running the football into fronts that favor the defense, they're regularly passing the football into sides of the field where the defense has a numbers advantage. Screen execution has, as a whole, been awful...and that's a big part of this offense. The proper calls just aren't being made, and what's worse is they're TRYING to push the defense with pace and just not getting there at all. It'd be one thing if they're not trying to push with pace, but they are, they're just not executing.

If you see good execution in all that, then all the power to you, but I don't.

What has to happen is in practice they have to get a WHOLE lot better at executing...and they have 2 weeks to do it.

He graduated and was done. That's when Bill brought him in for a workout and offered him a $5,000 on the spot. This is without any football experience in 8 years mind you. He worked with Jacory Harris.

Instead of accepting, he talked to Shannon and Bernie Kosar and started taking graduate classes so he could play football. He only caught 17 passes and the rest is history. The Patriots could have drafted him but went with Gronk and Hernandez. Imagine if they took gronk then graham. Oh my.

This story might be false but that's a lot of detail

I just edited to add the link. This is the only source for it and of course I find it somehow (Yahoo sends me Dolphins, SF giants, and politics on my homepage lol).

Again, might be false but the details are quite intricate for a story if it didn't happen.

Wow..not gonna argue it..cuz..sounds like youve much more then I have..but quite honestly your breakdown of their offense is wayyy different then any analysis Ive read or heard elsewhere. Youve been very accurate breaking down our play before so...

    What a bummer...

I mean..listening to how you describe things..we flat out suck. Think Ill hold on to the 300 for Sunday Ticket and pass. Total loss of excitement after reading that.

Well, we were 8-8 last season and got very close to making the playoffs... with last year's offense. Even if this offense is terrible by CK's accounts (compared with the Eagle's offense, at least), I still think this year's offense is better than last year's, so... if I were you I'd pay for that Sunday Ticket, but that's just me.

    They've just got...to get...better.

That execution has to get better. It's a MUST. They can't go into the regular season trying to execute the way they have this preseason.

What I'm hoping for is that the Dallas game was a come-to-jesus moment for a whole lot of players who THOUGHT they were doing OK but suddenly realized they're not. And the coaches will help them realize that. Listen to the language coming out this week. Philbin's pissed. Hopefully that comes through in the players and they tighten up.

I think the implied tone within your post is ridiculous. One could draw the conclusion from your tone that this offense will worst offense the Dolphins have ever fielded. I do not disagree with any point you have made, but let's tone it down a little.

If they were on the Patriots and Brady was the QB, they would be the top receiving corp in the NFL, IMO.

With Tannehill as the QB, we can only hope he takes a giant step up this year as an NFL QB and he is able to get the most out of this group of receivers.

This and the fact that we are still (or at least Tannehill is still) working out the kinks of the new offense; followed up by the addition of another pretty effective TE in the trade with Mankins and I don't see the Pats losing to us. Clearly BB believes in the new OG that will take Mankins place.

I just wish we'd have been able to pull off a trade for him! But, of course, BB was after the TE and so he gave up Mankins. Mankins - in spite of BB possibly seeing a decline - would have been a phenomenal addition to our OL. I'd have given up a 3rd rounder and any TE but Clay for him (maybe even another player).

Tim Wright was very active in last nights Pre Season game....catching 4 passes for 43 yards.

Reading through some of the Pats sites this AM...a lot of them were very impressed with how he caught the ball in traffic.

I read some of Matt Bowen's breakdowns and found this interesting:

The Patriots will once again be multiple in terms of their personnel groupings this season under McDaniels, but will this offense show more Ace/12 personnel (2WR-2TE-1RB) with the addition of tight end Tim Wright after the Logan Mankins trade?

Once Rob Gronkowski is cleared to play, Tom Brady will have two tight ends to work the inside seam, the 7-route in the red zone and the deep dig that converts in the middle of the field.

I see a balanced offensive system this year for the Patriots with Posse/11, Regular/21 (2WR-1TE-2RB) and Heavy/13 (1WR-1RB-3TE) in addition to the matchups they can create inside of the numbers with two tight ends on the field.

The two tight ends that can attack the seam in the Red Zone could still be problematic even with Wright only being here for two weeks.

Having Tim Wright to go against our starting linebackers (provided McCain doesn't start) is going to help them.

But let's be honest here, they just dropped Logan Mankins in favor of Josh Kline. And now Kline will have to block Randy Starks and Jared Odrick. That should have a bigger impact in our favor.

On the other hand, Dion Jordan is out and I think the Dolphins will try and use Chris McCain in his place based on the success he had pass rushing last night. I think that's when McCain will come back to earth and you'll have guys like Omar crowing about how preseason and regular season are very different, etc. And he'll be right. If the Dolphins put McCain's hand on the ground and try and rush him against the Patriots first string OLs like Sebastian Vollmer and Nate Solder it's difficult for me to imagine him having success as a situational rusher that way. He needs to be playing as a linebacker and blitzing like Wheeler did a year ago.

Reshad Jones being out in favor of Jimmy Wilson is also going to hurt trying to cover Gronkowski and Wright.

I mean, if I gotta lay money on the game I'm going with NE. But...so would like 90% of the people out there if the lines were even.

Especially when ...as much as a lot of us want to be excited about the potential for our offense, there is still a lot we don't know. For example, the pace. I know in practice the pace was much faster...but during the actual games this Pre Season....they have had normal huddles. What kind of pace will we see next Sunday? Nobody really knows.

If I were betting money Id have to go NE here as well...there are just to many question marks on the Dolphins squad. My heart says we are going to light them up...but...cant go with heart when cash is on the line.

I honestly don't think the offense is capable of hitting the other team with pace.

I think when they're game-planning for NE they will bring out some different plays than we've seen...but it'll be at the same pace, and I doubt the execution or selection will be much better than we saw against Dallas. I think ultimately what we're going to see are sound offensive theories executed poorly.

Touching on the poor execution from the screen game that CK brought up, I've mentioned this a few times over the two years, Ryan has some issues executing it, his delivery, mechanics and touch when trying is very unorthodoxed.hes got to get more comfortable and relaxed on those plays

Tim Wright and Rob Gronkowski on the field at the same time nasty, along with Dobson, LaFell, Edelman, Thompkins, Amendola and Vereen have also looked electric thus far .. can't wait
