So, we get to travel to Buffalo, after a win from ours AND their team...in September, where the weather shouldn't be a factor. Thoughts? I'm pegging a Miami Win 27-12.
It'll be much closer with some frustrating Tannehill moments but they pull it out holding on with a FG or something like that. A lot depends on the LB core. If they start the right guys things will work out well.
Yea I will be interested to see how we handle the best DL in the division (they are barely better than us).
Hmm I'm not sure I'd say they are better. It's very very close. I wouldn't argue they arent better either though. Regardless you are right. Need to see how our pass protection holds up against a team that gave us so much trouble in that area.
If the Fins can clean up the bad turnovers, then I see it as a solid win. We kept New England in the game with the giveaways, otherwise, imagine the rout!
In the first half, yes. I just think we need to get a lead on them. They're such a different team to play against when they're losing. If they're losing, they don't do the the one thing they do well on offense, which is run. If they're losing, they can't do the one thing they do well on defense, pin the ears back and get after the passer. Obviously the game was on here in Chicago. Matt Forte had a nice day, both running and receiving. Now, that could be a product of the Bears having some big playmakers at WR, but we'll see.
Last year the Dolphins won at home against the Patriots and went up to Buffalo the next week and played their worst game of the entire season. Football is a game of matchups and the Bills defense is a much tougher matchup for the Dolphins offense than the Patriots defense was today. If the OL can play like it did today, the Dolphins should win next week. If the Bills defense is able to stop the run and put pressure on Tannehill, as it did last year, it is going to be very difficult for the Dolphins to go into Buffalo and come our with a win. Right now I figure the Bills will probably be a 2-4 point favorite in the game.
Tannehill won today's game? Did you even watch him today? We won in spite of him and our stone hands receivers/TEs.
I don't particularly see a reason why Buffalo is a tougher mismatch for Miami this year. Last year yes they were but this year I think it's a regular matchup. Buffalo is just a good team, I think Miami might be better depending on how Tannehill plays. Williams and Dareus are certainly tough and so is Williams but I feel a lot better with the guys Miami has now versus what they had last year against these guys.
I'm more nervous about losing to the Bills than I was to the Patriots. They just seem to always get us...specially at Buffalo. That said, if our O line can hold up like they did today...no chance at losing IMHO. Would like to see several players have a better game including Tannehill, Sims, Wallace, Landry (REALLY surprised me with that drop)...and no mo' fumbles Lamar!
The biggest key to Buffalo is stopping the run. What happens with the LBs during the week is important. The reason they were even in that game against Chicago and beat them later on was their running game. They gave up huge yardage through the air and I think Tannehill can beat them with Clay and the RBs.
Could be a frustrating game...obviously, look at last season. We've improved in areas, so have they. Plus, its in Buffalo. We'll see, should be a nailbiter. Let's see if the run game keeps it going against a unit they struggled against last season.
As long as the drops and TOs and poor execution of the first half was just Game 1 at home jitters, then we are MUCH more likely to match up favorably against Buffalo then we were last year.
God yall act like you didnt even watch Tannehills play in the second half....but then again...same people who didnt like Tannehill from the start...thought he sucked all day..and people like me who like him...thought he played good in 2nd half...just how it is I guess
The Bills went on the road and beat the Bears today. So that shows that they are also an improved team over last year. I didn't say the Dolphins can't win the game. I just think it is going to a lot tougher for them to go to Buffalo and win than it was for them to beat the Patriots in Miami today.
I'm not a bettor, but I just figured the Bills would be favors by a couple of points because of the home field advantage. I think pick'em is probably about right for these two teams.
The Bears have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL, have done since last year as well. Buffalo won by running the ball well, that game plan will likely not be as productive against our defense given our defensive line. The key to the game remains Fred Jackson. If we can shut him down or limit his effectiveness an force Manuel to beat us we have a good chance to win. He only threw the ball 22 times today with overtime, that tells you what they tried to do. Slow down the ground game and we can beat them.
That was my thought as well. Make EJ Manuel beat us. And we need to run to keep their pass rush in check as well.
Every QB has throws like he did. It just looks worse because his receivers were also dropping balls and not padding his stats. Without the easy drops he could easily have been over 270 yards and 4 TD's.
What did I just tell you? We won despite BOTH. Our passing offense was bad. PERIOD. We won despite it. Fact.
I'm excited to see James go against Mario. That should give us a better barometer of where he is as a player.
the difference 'shouldd' b Moreno again, if we can get him going .... BUF will be a very tough game - likely our toughest competition in the DIV ..... The offense will have to up its game ...... or carry over the 2nd half, or we will not win - we should by 7-10, but ....
We match up much better this year than last year, if our O-line continues to play at this level. If our D can shut down their running game, I really like our chances. Last year we played the Bills after beating the Patriots and lost badly, but this year there are many differences. 1)We beat the Pats handily this game, in a much more convincing fashion than we did last season, and facing a tougher defense with Wilfork, Revis and Mayo playing. 2) We won by running the ball, and running it well 3) Held them to 89 rushing yards If we play like this against the Bills we will win this game.
Did you miss our final TD drive? It was basically 1-2 run and pass and Ryan was always on the money. There were also a few TD and long yardage passes that were just dropped.
This year we have a MUCH better O-Line and the Lazer gun calling plays. I think this is the week we get the passing game going, I think we can out score buffalo with the reliance on the run game and our front 4. We win by at least 10.
Honestly, I'm not ready to talk about week 2 yet. It's like we just won the Super Bowl and you want to talk about tennis! =) I do think we show up next week though and get win #2, but for now...I abstain from the conversation.
