Link And now for three reasons why: And yes, I too figured the Pats would take this. I'm glad I'm wrong!
Who cares about the national sports media concerning our team anymore? As I and other have stated many times, it doesnt matter. It does feel good that they were all wrong, but you and I know all theyll talk about is how bad the Patriots played and now how well we did in beating them. Dont expect that narrative to change until we give them more reasons to stop dissing us.
Yeah, but that's not very fair. I looked for three days and I couldn't find a single Dolphins pick, even against the spread. There was one CBS guy today that called Miami with the spread, but he also expected us to lose. So yeah, besides us and one gunslinger at CBS...the entire nation failed on that pick.
Not really. I thought we would. Kept saying outside of Brady (and Revis I guess) the Patriots really lack talent.
I didn't predict a score, but no it doesn't really shock me. I have a very low opinion of their roster and we were able to hit Brady.
Not saying it was impossible for us to win, but other than homers, most realistic fans weren't totally confident in us being able to pull out a win. Especially at halftime. Myself included.
Never threw in the towel, you can see my post at about halftime where I said the game was FAR from over and that they'd be back...and I take offense to the 'homer' bullshlt. I'm a f*cking FAN...to my core...and will NEVER admit it's over until it is. Why bother to watch if I think it's a done deal? I'm not like all the azzhats posting "durrrr baseball game on in 20 minutes durrrrr" when the team was having problems. Nut up FFS! Predicted 38-17 Miami...not too far off...had sound reasons for that prediction, and many of them showed today. Too many people get caught up in past seasons to have hope for the current one. I don't tall into that trap.
Not sure why you say realistic fans. Evaluate their roster outside Brady, they really aren't very good at all. They have no receiving core, average backs in the run game, a mediocre offensive line, a very thin D-Line, Solid LB's and aside from Revis a very average secondary. Especially with Gronk out. It surprised me we put up 33 points I will say that, but not that we won convincingly. At halftime it seemed obvious to me we were playing better than they were aside turnovers, two of which werent really bad plays so much as unlucky. I wasnt convinced we would win at that point but saw it as a definite possibility.
Generally you know who the homers are. Im not pointing any fingers. But there's always been a minority of homers on this board and others that are the equivalent to Cowboys/Jets fans who think every year is our year. And of course they pick us to win games when usually the odds are stacked against us. Ive always considered myself a realistic fan. I was sh**ing on my team for the first half as were others. Its not that were not "true" fans, we just know better and seen this team shoot itself in the foot too many times. It almost happened today. Im glad we have fans who think we have a chance every week, I just cant be one of those fans.
Ever since they got rid of Moss they've always had some serious flaws and yet every year they're deep in the playoffs. And they usually kick our asses at least one out of our two matches every year. As much as I loved the win, we can't get too cocky and think we're the top dawgs in the AFCE. This is opening week, lots of upsets are going to be had. NE will play better. Brady will have a few good games. As long as they have him and BB, they always have a chance. Aside from that, I look at our fanbase(and every other teams) as two camps: one that thinks every QB we have is the second coming of Marino and every year we have a chance to win the SB. Then there is the other camp thats much more rational.
Big deal, we beat the pats and didn't get props..who the hell cares, lets go beat the bills and get some revenge, they maybe they'll take notice.
Well, the thing to me is that the national media seemingly go out of their way to crap all over the Fins, which they do not generally do with other teams with a similar recent history. And while its of course its always ESPN on all of their platforms, the other ones generally do it too. Am I wrong to want my team to be treated fairly by the national media? Maybe others don't care. That's your right of course. I do.
I hear Mike Wilbon and others say its ridiculous to think ESPN hates on any one team, which is probably true. Still doesnt change the fact that some teams just dont get the same recognition and respect as others and that usually includes South Florida teams. Also it doesnt change the fact that some personalities have a biased view and agenda against certain teams. Heath Evans is for sure a Dolphins hater. Teddy Brushi is going to root for NE all the way and isnt going to give us any respect. Berman we know is a Bills homer. Most of the other guys are homers for their respective teams they played for, even the Florida based players dont give us much love like Irvin, Sapp, Ray Lewis. In their defense however, had we had a winning culture, they wouldnt have much negative to say and theyd be forced to cover us positively.
