If I'm the coaching staff I make the team watch both games versus the Bills last year Saturday on the way to and in Buffalo. I want them to remember that feeling of losing to these guys. That would be my motivation.
Let me start of by saying I am a bills fan. I like reading your boards because I feel our teams are very much alike. I just watched your teams replay and man your running game is insane this year. If you asked me two days ago who was going to win I would have said the phins all day but with the recent selling of the team added with the win last week i think the bills are going to take this one and not by much. either way its going to be a great game its my favorite rivalry. Any ways nice win over new england.
I do think bills are for real. I think we are too. But injuries and youth etc bills couldn't sustain early start last yr. More experience added talent, 2nd yr under Marrone all spells improved. I think we win a close one but wouldn't be shocked of bills win. Riding an emotional high at home for the opener
I have to agree its going to be a battle and one team will win but very close all the way. Both these teams are pretty even and they are both hungry for the playoffs.
If we win this game look how our schedule lines up.. @ home KC Oakland in London.. Bye. @home Green Bay at Chicago. at Jacksonville home San Diego. If we win I can see it boosting us huge..and can see a VERY good record through 8 games. Having a bye week to prepare for GB. Huge. Chicago is winnable..then you have probaly our easiest two games Jacksonville and home against San Diego. Win this game.
Not to mention..you really cant wipe the stench of last season away until we stomp audd puddle in their asses
For that I appologize then. Must be a coincidence. I stand by the rest of my point. No game is a must win when you're 1-0.
No doubt about it, Miami has to win this game. They are getting a break playing up there early in September and must take advantage of it.
Here's to the Bills staying in Buffalo! The AFC East needs to stay the way it is. That's the last nice thing I'm going to say about the Bills this week, because it's gameface time.
I'm going to predict a 30 point Dolphins blowout. Bills players will be demoralized when they find out that they are stuck in Buffalo instead of having a chance at moving to Los Angeles.
I think this game will be pretty close... 20-17, not sure who wins. Their running backs are going to hurt our depleted linebacker unit..
I swear to all that is good and holy...if I have to hear the older lady at work (Bills fan...who is married to an ex-Dolphan Bills fan) say, "we squished the fish!" one more time...I'm gonna kill something.
Easy there tiger! Don't blow a gasket. I have the same reaction anytime somone finds out I'm a Bills fan and says "wide right".
To sum it all up , If we want to continue to be positive and have a real good feeling about this team after coming off last weeks huge win- then yes- its a must win. If we lose then it drastically reduces the feeling of finally turning the corner and becoming a very good football team. We all know last week was huge and to build on that game and stay confident we have to beat Buffalo, plain and simple. Others can disagree and that's fine but I feel its very important to win this game for a lot of reasons. Let this team start to believe and get a little swagger to their attitude, that's what separates winners from wanna be`s.
Thats exactly right.Playing the bills in September is huge.We need to take advantage and let the pats, bills, jets know this is a new year and we are the new dolphins!
Travis, much of that will be done by other people than the coaching staff. It's also not the first time its been done by various staffs around the league so they do have plans for these types of things already in place. But I do agree travelling teams always find it tougher in that short week, especially when long flights are involved as well, although the length of the flight is mitigated by the fact they never cross a time zone. The SD game is basically already a win unless we completely **** the bed. Teams coming that far for an early game get toasted at a crazy rate.
If we run the football all the way down the field and have Moreno or Miller throw a pass from the goal line I'm still gonna' blame Dan Henning.
I'm not sure how people can say with a straight face that we have equal talent. I just don't see it. Last year means nothing. Besides the RBs, I'm not sure there is any player group I would want to trade with you. Both teams LBs are questionable. Home advantage is big for you. I just don't see evenly matched at all.
The way I see this game going is, the Bills will throw everything into stopping the run and so will we. Both teams will try to force the QB to beat them through the air and we are going to have to hope that Tanny is better than he was last week and Manuel isn't.
Why are Dolphins fans acting like Miami has never beaten the Bills in Buffalo during the winter? The @ Buffalo no show in 2014 had nothing to do with the weather. See the following Sunday no show in Miami vs. the NYJ as exhibit A. Yet somehow, the narrative hasn't changed. In 2008 (our last winning season), did Miami not go 4-0 in December and beat @Buffalo, @KC, and @NYJ in freezing cold weather? The team most prepared will win... This Sunday is no different.
2008 game at Buffalo was actually in Toronto. We did go up there and beat them down in a snow storm in 2011. I remember Matt Moore, Brandon Marshall, Reggie Bush and Vontae Davis having big games that day. It was a fun game.
I dont know if I would call Bradham and Spikes questionable, but Rivers may be out this week and our rookie 3rd rd linebacker who got burned constantly last week will likely take his place if he cant play. So that's a place I would expect the Phins to attack. Your LBs are all out as I understand or questionable at least. I think we have the advantage there. Our DL is an absolute beast. I would take our D line over any in the league. A line that has sent 3 to the probowl just last year. The Dolphins do have a formidable DL also but I think the edge goes to the Bills. Last year they broke the single season records for the Bills, a team that featured Bruce Smith in the past. 2nd in the league in sacks last year. Our CBs are maybe our strongest suit. 1st rd picks Leodis McKelvin, Stephon Gilmore are on the perimeter. On the slot we have, in my opinion, the best CB in the league at that position in Nickel Robey, and a 4th (could be our second perimeter CB with a lights out performance against the bears) we have Corey Graham. This group is better than the group last year that was second in the league in INTs last year. I like Brent Grimes and Finnegan, but I think there's a decided edge to the Bills here. If Aaron Williams doesn't pass the concussion protocol for this week, we are weak at safety. That's also going to play into Clay having a field day. Though Duke williams and Da'norris Searcy are hard hitters that may make Clay pay for going up the middle. Its a scary proposition if Williams can't play. Admittedly, I know nothing about your safetys, so I can't really grade this position against itself. Can someone fill me in? Thanks. I would take our WR corps of Watkins, Mike Williams, Woods, and Goodwin over the Wallace, Hartline, and Gibson. I just think the Bills WRs are much more dynamic. I would give the Bills the edge on RBs having 2 very good RBs in CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson with good depth in Bryce Brown and Boobie Dixon (47 yd run against the Bears) vs Moreno and Miller (admittedly I dont know much about your 3rd and 4th). As for QBs I would give the Dolphins an edge for Tannehill's experience. That in itself is a nice attribute. TE's is a huge advatage for the Dolphins, our TE were non existent last week and are decidedly lack luster. I like Charles Clay, and I think that's where you guys can make your hay. Attacking our suspect coverage with our LBs. Offensive line, I would give a slight edge to the Bills with some stalwarts in Woods and Glenn mixed in with some new faces. As I understand the Dolphins have a brand new line which will take some time to gel, but that doesnt mean that wont be good. ***Disclaimer*** These are all an opinion of a Bills fan and may be skewed one way or the other with rose colored glasses this Bills fan uses!
I'm not sure where you get that Robey got owned? Robey shut down the slot. If he somehow gets matched up with a big WR (where he should never be) like Brandon Marshal, then its going to be tough. He's rerely out of place like that though. McKelvin may actually be a 3rd CB this week but played at a pro bowl level last year. I'm willing to give him a pass on last week. He also had a very athletic play to force the fumble last week. His recovery after the catch was superb.
