Looks like my proclamation "Daniel Thomas will never play another down in the NFL" is close to being completely incorrect. Insult to injury will be that it will be in a Dolphins uniform!!!!
EXACTLY W/O the sarcasm. But I think DT is going to be a huge lift for the Offense.....i hope. I wish my high paying job would call me back to work after firing me for underperforming the first go round. Given a second chance I would bust my butt to make sure that if they felt the need to let me go again it wouldn't be for underperforming, I promise that but, *Maybe that just me though*
Or, 2 yards and a soft-tackle landing. Or, running into a clogged hole because the vision is just not there to do anything else.
I think it's totally possible, however unlikely. He's shown a few flashes before. I do know that I feel better with him back than just relying on Miller - even if sunday wasn't his worst game, Miller has just let us down too many times.
I've never been a fan of Thomas but I think the fact no NFL team signed Seastrunk to their PS should be enough to show that no one thinks he is an NFL RB prospect. There certainly seems to be a lot more love for Seastrunk on fan forums than there is from GM's in the NFL.
I see what you did there. FWIW Rice is a big name but he was actually one of the worst backs in the league last year.
I understand why no one signed Thomas, he isn't any good and he's always injured. Cam Wake went up to Canada and earned his way back to the NFL. Perhaps Seastrunk should try that same path if he wants another chance in the NFL. Obviously since no team even wants him on their PS, there is no interest in him by teams in the NFL at this time.
Thomas couldn't even make the team, is the scheme different than the one we've been running all offseason?
He knows the system, isn't necessarily a disaster so it is what it is. I do know some defenders are going to get punished now. Because DT likes to skip the big hole and hit the defender instead.
From what I read, the Redskins cut him because they didn't think he was effective as a blocker and he didn't appear to be the type of back who could make the tough runs up the middle. I'm sure there were other non football related issues which have also turned off all the other teams in the NFL. That is why he should try and sign with a team in the CFL. He obviously isn't going to get another chance with an NFL team this season and whatever off the field issues are hurting him may be helped if he goes up to the CFL and becomes a productive player and shows that his previous issues are behind him.
There's 31 other teams who also haven't signed those dudes...Thomas at least knows the offense, which is a big plus when you're comparing the bottom-of-the-barrel in a relatively emergency situation. I'd hope Williams is the starter though...we'll see.
Did he ever get a chance to run behind the starting offensive line during the preseason? He could come back motivated, thinking it's really his last chance at pro football, and surprise.
This guy hit the open market and had no interest, this is the end of his road. Hope the dude comes in with some fire and something to prove.
While I am no fan of Thomas, he does know the offense and is a veteran. It was probably unsettling to potentially have 3 rookies on the rotation (which would have occurred if Seastrunk was signed. I like Darkwa and Williams.
I see people are still calling DT soft even though he played on one leg last year when he was supposed to be out for the year.
I really want to see Darkwa and Williams on the field. I like what I see from them. Miami made a strong push to sign Darkwa with a decent signing bonus as a rookie free agent.
Anybody seen a recent practice squad roster? Would be curious to see. With some DL injuries Garrison Smith might be popular.
