Agreed, but he had a very average Jay Fiedler as his QB and he still was able to have a winning record in his time as the Dolphins HC. I certainly am not defending his time with the Dolphins because I think he was terrible when it came to player personnel decisions. He left the team in far worse shape, talent wise, in comparison to what he inherited from Jimmy Johnson when he took over as HC of the Dolphins. Yet from an on field coaching perspective, he did a far better job than the last three jokers have done.
19-0 20-7 20-33 29-10 34-15 This team is 1-4 in the last 5 games, while being outscored 122-65. We got half of those 65 points in 1 of those 5 games. That is wretched. Breaking 20 points 1 time in the last 5 games is dreadful. It would certainly appear that the team is regressing.
He was a bit too conservative for my tastes, but I agree, he got more out of his teams than Philbin ever will. Huizenga's fault was he let Wannstadt after what he did in Chicago, still have control of personnel.
Honest question, is it the coaching or the talent? Seems to me we leave way too many plays on the field. Thats not coaching.. In my opinion a coach can only do so much. I think there is a disconnect with our new OC. I dont know if the talent is there to run his offense or if his playbook just sucks. Philbin doesn't seem to make huge mistakes game in and game out. Great coaches usually have great players. My question is are our players great? Insert Seattle's players in Miami and what is our record? Just being objective here.
We're yet to see all this "space" the offense is supposed to operate in. I don't know who that's on, but I'd lean toward the OC. The scheme isn't working to create separation enough...and when it did, we had drops. RT hit guys in stride plenty in the first half...he can't catch it for 'em too. His accuracy in the first half was great IMHO. Fell apart in the 4th. The D line is playing great, the secondary wasn't really even tested, the LBs failed in coverage big time. That on the DC or the players? I don't know, but I'd lead toward injuries, players, and DC. There are still FAR too many missed tackles happening on this defense...FAR too many. Not just the LBs, but the secondary guys too. Wilson looked pretty bad again in this area. I have no doubt the Seattle players "could" be more successful on this team...but they wouldn't be near as successful as they'll be at Seattle...we don't have the coaches or the fire.
Yeah.. I honestly dont know what to make of it. Seems like our studs from last year lost a step except Wallace. Clay hasnt shown much, Hartline is playing so-so. I didn't see any long shots taken today. Tanny looks confused out there, holds it together but isn't the leader we need right now. Probably losing confidence.. I watched the Packers today and wonder if they are thinking the same thing we are. The Saints and 49ers too..
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero 3h Joe Philbin: "We're not playing well enough the last two weeks to win a football game in the National Football League." He must be satisfied with the coaching I reckon.
He shouldn't have by any means - yes, he had to change everything around to suit Tebow, but Tebow was still piss-poor at executing even the changed gameplans outside of some ridiculous 4th quarter comebacks. McCoy is (surprise!) doing much better with actual talent out there. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, I'm just noting that his job is being made easier. Or maybe he just has a thing with super-fundy QBs?
Wanny was a below average NFL head coach, but he earned the right to be considered that, at least. Philbin has absolutely no business being the head man. In WAY over his head.
I really wish we could get Jon Gruden. At least he shows some enthusiasm for the game and knows how to win.
