Wilson. I wanted the Dolphins to pass on Tannehill and take Wilson in the second round in the 2012 draft.

The only thing which has changed since then is that now I would want the Dolphins to take Wilson with their first round draft pick.

I would also take Foles and Cousins over Tannehill and not think twice about it.

Wilson is very much dependent on being on a team with a great running game and a stellar defense. We have neither of those.
Foles is a product of the Kelly system more than anything else.
    I'd take Kirk Cousins.

that's a falacy. Wilson excels in his current system, but you can watch the guy play and understand that he's a smart QB, good arm, good accuracy and makes good decisions. He may not be the same caliber in our system, but he'd still be better than Tannehill.

I'm not sure how anyone can really say that they would rather have XXXX player on the team instead of who we have currently. It all has to do with their coaching and fitting a scheme around them. Do you think if any of the other 3 QB's were here instead of Tannehill with his same coaching and play calling that we would just be lighting it up on offense? Theres no way Wilson would be as effective as a QB on our team as he is with Seattle. He has one of the best Defenses in the league to lean back on and one of the best Running backs in the league to hand the ball to. I honestly think that if we had any of the other QB's listed we would all be complaining about the same things with the same threads every week.

I thought the same thing about but foles but after yesterday's game I changed my mind.At one point he had 4 out 5 of his starting lineman out yesterday and he got pounded. He had no running game yesterday and not counting kickoff return led them to 30 points. He looks like he is going to be elite down the road.

Couldn't agree more, but you're viewing the question logically when this is clearly a vent about/bash Tannehill thread.

Foles or Cousins. Contrary to popular belief Wilson isn't a very good QB. His offense is brilliantly built so that he doesn't have to make reads except once in a blue moon.

The only one of those who has exhibited elite traits is Russel Wilson with his intelligence and play-making ability. Even despite his size and perhaps not elite passing talent, I'd take him above the rest.

We've all seen with Tannehill that perhaps great arm talent is meaningless without the extra attributes to complement them.

I'm about done watching Tannehill's poor decision-making and weak play-making ability.

I really hate the eagles but yesterday though its hard for me to admitt was very impressed with foles. He got hit hard the whole game and mcoy had 23 yds on 20 carries and he still carried that team to victory.Kirk cousins played a hell of a game also but I felt he choked on the last drive missing two open wr on back to back plays.

For a second, I thought this was someone bumping a really old thread.

It's astounding to me that this is a thread started today, 9/22/2014...as if there is any valid reason whatsoever to choose Tannehill, Foles or Cousins over Russell Wilson.

Notice, though, that nobody is selecting Tannehill, whereas if this poll had been done just prior to game one of this season, I suspect that result would've been different.

I have no clue why Wilson doesn't get any respect. That 39 yard TD yesterday was unfreaking believable, and the guy goes and and does that all the damn time! He's already got a SB win and an incredible passer rating. What else does the guy have to do?

Wilsons head is years ahead of how long hes been in NFL. Game has just slowed way down for him...Jordan used to say when its like this the basket looks huge. Wilson all day and 7 times on Sunday.

I think Philbins desperation to win ruined Tannehill last season. he simply took too many hits. the guy is hearing footsteps behind him, freezing up, seeing ghost. if I'm right, he will not make through the season. I'm already in favor of starting Moore.

The point is for someone to continue to complain and get themselves some attention, to use hind sight apparently to make themselves feel better. I'm just sad it shows up in the thread list, even though I've used our trust ignore feature.

Anyone can look back several years and show a list of players that have performed better, on better teams to say look, maybe we screwed up! However, so did 20 some odd other teams then, but whatever.

Well according to Pro Football Focus, Russell Wilson has only been the 29th best quarterback out of 35 qualifying quarterbacks this year. Slightly worse than Josh McCown.

    So there's that.

    LMFAO.

Pro Football Focus quickly becoming a joke. They NEVER should have shined such a bright light on their ratings system. Stick to being a stats shop. They're discovering that even if you try and take subjectivity out of the grading process, the intellectual choices you make about the structure of the process create subjectivity, systematic bias and really crazy results that everyone realizes does not foot with reality.

I can't say this enough. I've never liked their rating system, and have always recommended WPA/EPA and AV to grade a players performance. They're not predictive by any means, and not without their flaws, but you also don't get dumb **** like Tannehill being ranked 3rd overall even above Manning, and some stupid excuse of "Manning passes more quickly" as an excuse as to why the rating system seems incongruous.

Wilson was able to play on a team with a great running game and defense. That goes a long way to allowing a young QB to develop.

Foles sat behind a veteran QB for over a year before being put into the game (this used to be the norm).

Cousins also had the luxury of sitting behind another QB.

I think NFL teams in general are doing themselves a disservice by starting rookie QBs on the idea that they will 'learn' on the job. The transition to the NFL for a QB has to be difficult. There's generational players like Luck and Peyton who can star right away, but other QBs need time to learn. I don't think starting is conducive to learning especially in NFL when a great deal of pressure if on the QB to propel the team's offense forward and deal with the weekly game planning when they should be focusing on footwork/form/etc or learning the offensive system.

If you don't have a generational player or a system that is designed to support a young QB...don't start them.

This isn't a pass for Tannehill, but if you take a QB who is...say average...and expect them to develop 'on the job', that just seems like a recipe for failure. Throw in a rookie head coach and unproven offensive system....yeah....not gonna work out well.

    That's all?

It's fun to imagine, anyway. I wish I had a nickel for every time somebody talks about how Seattle's offense is "brilliant" in how it disguises Wilson's inabilities. I could retire on "Seattle's offense is really simple," as well.

I'm pretty sure that if he's healthy enough, and he keeps going, we'll get to hear these same arguments in the days leading to his induction into Canton. That is how I could eventually build an island of nickels in the South Pacific.

I don't know how anyone can say Wilson is a product of the system or he's good because of the team he's on. I was a big fan of his coming into that draft. Go back and look at some highlights of him at Wisconsin. He was amazing and made outstanding throws. It was clear to me that he could excel in the NFL.
