You think Rizzi coached our special teams to be bad this week? and when they are good, he coached them well?
I've become afraid that in 10 years we will be known as the team that drafted Todd Blackledge or Tony Eason.....
I'm relatively new to Dolphins fandom, but I haven't seen Tannehill do enough to warrant an extension or even a vote of confidence. He's lousy at throwing to where his receivers WILL be, but consistently throws behind them on every kind of route. He also seems slow to get the ball out of his hands, and he's not quick or elusive when he needs to be. I don't think he can change who he is as a quarterback, and the Fins would be NUTS to give him any kind of extension. They need to make QB a priority in the draft again and move on.
I so badly want to believe Tannehill is the answer. But on Sundays my eyes keep telling me otherwise. Poor reads. Poor throws. Poor confidence. Not a good combination.
WTF is this talk about extension? He's locked in for this and 2 more seasons with option...it's not a consideration at this point.
nah, even for a loose comparison I can't totally agree. They were all 1st rders in '83 but in THill's draft who knew? I still haven't seen enough from Cousins. If THill fails this season we'll draft another qb next year so it won't be like we'll hold on to him. But I hear you though, he's clearly being outplayed by at least 2 classmates so far.
What makes the Seahawks' scheme more simplistic than any other, in your opinion? Sunday's game wasn't great, but you can't ask for much more from a young QB in his first couple of seasons. Wilson throws well in the pocket. Wilson throws well out of the pocket. Wilson converts third downs really well. Also, it was 120 degrees on the field in San Diego on Sunday. Southern California is feeling like hell right now. Today it's only 106 at my house. A cooling trend, indeed.
Exercising the option is a no-brainer. IMO, you exercise the option and draft a QB high. The light could come on with a little competition. Or not. EDIT: IF the option is $15 million, it's not a no-brainer. I'd probably do it, but it depends on the cap situation for the rest of the team.
I haven't seen this pointed out yet, but our current General Manager has no ties with Tannyhill. This needs to be in the discussion on whether he is resigned or not.
I would be surprised to see us draft another QB unless its a late rounder. Right now I think we'll draft OL, LB, and running back in the first three rounds. To me it always comes down to the oline. They got manhandled.
If you watch closely you'll notice that they use a lot of plays with one designed pass option. A lot of quick hits to receivers, screens and designed read option passes. On top of that they use a lot of designed rollouts where they cut the field in half. Not to mention, Bevell is ridiculously good at designing plays where receivers are wide open. What I have seen (last year at SF and on Sunday at SD) is that when these aspects of the play book are thrown out and Wilson has to make conventional reads from the pocket the results are less than desirable. Another thing I have noticed is that when his first option isn't open he has a tendency to escape to the right. Some of these, mind you, result in successful plays. Within their current scheme he performs very well. But what happens when he starts to gobble up a lot of their salary cap and the team isn't as good? How will he perform when he has to bring his team back late by passing from the pocket? We are getting little snippets here and there of what that might look like but really won't know for sure until the Seahawks are just an average team.
Because one has struggled noticeably for large parts or the past four games. One has not. My two cents via iPhone.
It depends on who is available when they draft. If there's a stud QB available at our pick, they take him. No doubt about it. I don't think at this point that they try to trade up for one.
if the first half is not significantly better against KC, I'd bench him in favor of Moore. I called it last season & I think I was right. the guy took too many hits. he's playing like he's seeing ghosts on the field. the QB isn't important, winning the game is important... if he is not the Franchise QB let him sit & develop & if he is than its time to show some leadership & enthusiasm. both these qualities can be found sitting oln the bench by way of Matt Moore.
That is a very good question. Special teams giving up 13 points is just horrible. The score could have been 16-10 in the fourth quarter.
Have you taken a look at the passing play compilations? I want more, but it is not as bad as many people state.
Tannehill has surprised me by not being the obvious bust I thought he'd be after the draft. I don't think he's great but every team can't have a great QB so will he be efficient enough to support those around him taking over games is the question.
I dont agree the playcalling was bad. The plays were there to be made. Couple questionable calls? Sure, but not enough to say it was bad overall.
If you mean the one late in the Buffalo game, it looks to me like a DB got his hand on the ball just as it arrived to Hartline.
ahem, I've seen enough. In only what, his 5th start I'm convinced Cousins is clearly better than THill and RG3 for that matter. He threw for 427yds, 3 TDs & a costly late pick.
We need to keep drafting QB's every year until one stands out. There are teams with franchise QB's draft QB's just in case, because you need to prepare for the future. Patriots have drafted multiple QBs with Brady as a starter, trying to find a possible replacement like Aaron Rodgers was in GB, trading guys away to desperate teams if they don't work out. Dolphins waste draft picks on people like Dion Jordan anyway.
Unless a miracle happens we will be cleaning house and a new Gm and coach are not going to sign him for big money. No way hasn't earned it.
If I would to start facing reality, I would stop watching football and do something productive with my time. No thank you.
I decided after yesterday's game that I will just record the game from now on and only watch it if the Dolphins actually win the game. I am sick and tired of watching them lose games and this will also allow me to skip all the commercials which seem to take up more and more of the time during an NFL game. Right now I would rather get up early, (the one o'clock games come on here at 7:00 am), go out and play 18 holes and enjoy the morning, instead of sitting through more mediocrity from this team. Watching this team continue to barrel toward the bottom of the NFL just isn't fun anymore. At least by watching only the games they win, I'll be able to enjoy the positive games and not have to waste my time seeing them implode on the field, as they have so often over the past decade. When they actually hire a head coach and a coaching staff that knows what they are doing and a QB who is at least above average, I'll be glad to get up early and watch the game live. Until then, thank God for DVR's.
