Matt Moore + Mike Wallace can open up this offense with the deep ball..

So you're saying Tannehill never does those things? He is more apt to than Moore is, IMO.

I agree with the basic premise: the team is paying a lot of money to Mike Wallace and he's not getting to do what Mike Wallace does.

However, the Dolphins could fix that lousy YPA stat just by increasing their efficiency in the short passing game. I'd love to see some long bombs, but it would be just as nice to see some sustained, efficient drives filled with nice reads, nice routes, and good throws. Hopefully that happens this season.

We're all blaming everyone for Wallace not getting the ball. How about blaming the FO for getting a toy for a QB that isn't a good fit for him? Look, I want/ed Tannehill to be the answer and he's been very up and down the last 5 games. But asking him to do something he's not good at seems ridiculous. Wallace and Tannehill aren't a good match. Who knows what Moore could do. I do get the feeling that Moore will play at somepoint as Philbin tries to save his job. This is a no win, **** show. I miss Gus.

One is a function of the other. When defenses don't have to respect the longball, they can cram their personnel into the short area, making that game less effective, as well.

It isn't the entire problem but it is definitely part of the problem!

Lobbing it up to Marshall was not all Moore did in 2011. It is obtuse to say as much. As for hitting Wallace in stride, did you see him hit Damian Williams in stride? When has Tannehill ever hit a pass that deep, so perfectly thrown?

I agree with you totally on this, but some folks around here seem to think that if RT got benched, he is so emotionally fragile that he'd just go into a shell and be ruined for life as an NFL starter. That is ridiculous. Back in the day, Chuck Noll benched Terry Bradshaw several times in his first couple of seasons because he was struggling, and started Joe Gilliam or Terry Hanratty over him. Obviously this did not hurt Bradshaw over the long haul. Even during the Steelers first SB season, Bradshaw started 7 games, Gilliam 6 and Hanratty 1.

This is exactly right. I cannot believe the people who think by benching Tannehill that you'd be ruining him from ever being an NFL starter. That notion is completely off base.

Doubtful. Moore is smart enough to go through his progressions and find the 2nd or 3rd option if the primary is covered. Tannehill looked like a horse wearing blinders out there. No peripheral vision at all. Locking in on his primary before the snap and never looking anywhere else much of the time.

But some folks here seem to think that would hurt his feelings so much that he'd never recover. :pity:

No he doesn't. Philbin gets final say on the entire coaching staff.

So he is on a blistering pace to rack up a whopping 3200 yards for the season. WOW!!!

I can't tell you how much I hate the logic that "We should play Tannehill because we might win more meaningless games with Moore." People talk about Philbin and his loser mentality. That is loser mentality if you ask me.

I refuse to subscribe to the lose on purpose mentality for a better draft pick. At least until we are out of contention. If we are 1-5 or 2-6 then by all means go ahead and tank. Right now I'm thinking about staying in the race.

Yeap all tannehills fault drops were the result of bad pocket awareness yeap your right. Defense getting bombed from 1st drive on of second half after being in halftime Yeap tanne fault. You want rest? Get off the field by making a stop.

Ridiculous argument. Tanne has issues but he isn't responsible for shortcomings elsewhere. To say he is well............

You're missing the point I was making; his performance so far this season does not merit benching him for Moore, especially in light of everything else wrong on offense.

Thank you! I'm not in the mood to watch this team tank with all the talent we have on the team for a better draft pick. I want to win now, not next year or the year after but now!

Football Outsiders have the team's playoff odds at 9.6% at the moment. Of course, those odds can fluctuate greatly within the season. Until the odds reach 0, the Dolphins need to be trying to win.

Not good, because any team at the beginning of the season has a 37.5% chance of making the playoffs. For that figure to plummet to less than 10% in just three games is ominous.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3721426 this benching of McNabb didn't hurt him either. Sometimes players need to be benched to be taught a lesson.

Like I've said before, Terry Bradshaw was benched multiple times early in his career, and it sure did not hurt him long term.

Doesn't mean squat, too early...unless 100% of 1-2 teams have never made the playoffs.

Especially when the other teams in your division have as many warts as we do. Brady is suffering from the same things as Tannehill right now..

Ya...I just think the Cheater has a much better chance of righting the ship before we elect another president...not so sure about Joe Charisma.
