http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11661299/san-diego-chargers-sign-veteran-ronnie-brown Man, I miss that guy.
I went to about 4 or 5 training camps one season.....he was the ONLY player to stay, and sign every. single. autograph. at EVERY SINGLE practice. The guy did it with a huge smile on his face. He's a class act. And the only jersey I own besides Taylor and Thomas. Love that guy!
True there were better players we could've had in the 2005 draft(Rodgers) but I liked watching Ronnie play. When healthy, he was alot of fun to watch. Did alot things well for us. Total class act, had good chemistry with Ricky. Was hoping he could finish his career here but won't ever happen now. I wish him nothing but the best with San Diego.
I don't know that there is a single Fins player in my 25 years or so as a hardcore fan that was talented but had more breaks go against him than Ronnie. 2006, on a roll and leading the team to four straight wins and his hand gets caught between two helmets in Detroit. 2007, almost 1000 yards from scrimage through seven games, and he tears his knee apart trying to make a tackle after a pick. 2009, running well with 650 yards through 8+ games and lands funny on a run and messes his foot up. I think that he would have been dominant if not for the injuries. Even as it stands, his 16 game average is over 1000 yards and 7.6 TDs, and thats splitting time with Ricky Wiliams for half of his Miami career. Sad that we didn't get one single 1500 yard or so season to remember him by, because he had it in him. Thats was his average for every 350 carries he got.
He was showing his full potential under Cameran until the injury happened, was recording numbers on par with Adrian Peterson.
I was very optimistic about the 2005 Dolphins team after the nightmarish Wanny years imploded. When Saban left I knew it was all downhill from there, not that he did a very good job here.
I think Saban realized in college if he missed on a QB he could have someone just as good or better coming in the next recruiting class to push them. In the NFL it takes years to recover from QB misses.
05 was actually the first season I'd ever been pessimistic about the Fins. They hadn't had a losing season since the 80s, so 04 really killed me. The 04 club was the worst of my lifetime IMO, worse than 07. That upset win vs Denver to start 05 was amazing. I actually think that the team knew Saban was leaving halfway through 2006, and gave up. And then they hired Cam.....
