suspensions/off field issues are fine if you can still put a winner on the field, like SF, New England, Seattle etc...
He wasn't accused of a felony. Innocent until proven guilty? In the now world of social media, entire careers, lives, families and reputations are destroyed before the entire facts are brought to light. That being said, the league and especially the Dolphins have been put on warning. The team had no choice in making an example. At least pay the guy while you are waiting on the courts to try him on his petty charges. Seems that club has other issues as another guy who got arrested the same night had a pretty good story.
Pay him? Why? He's paid to play. He's not playing and he's not playing because after talking to him the team decided he should suspended.
Because felony guys are getting paid. DUE PROCESS. He has been convicted of NOTHING. Innocent until proven otherwise. It used to be a backbone of our system at some point in time. I was just discussing how people come to judgement without facts and our system is becoming flawed. You just confirmed this. I myself have been on the wrong side of it. Do you have to go through it also to reserve judgement?
Do you honestly think it was because of his conversation with the team considering last year and the current state of the Commish issues?
What did I confirm? I said he's paid to play, and he's suspended. But if you want to talk about jumping to conclusions, let's do that...... Tell me again how you know they suspended him because of last year and the Commish's issues?
I'm not attacking you. Just having a discussion. Do you think a player would be suspended last year before all the mess the NFL is now for minor charges if he did not play for the Dolphins? How many do you think were swept under the rug?
I think if the player had a real shot to show he was not in the wrong the NFL & the team would jump at the chance to be the victims for once in light of all the bad press going on. It would help cast dispersions on future issues. Or you could be right. I dunno. But WADR, you don't either, which makes it curious you jumped to conclusion while decrying how people jump to conclusions...no?
If Hardy and AP are still getting paid, Shelby should as well. Not that it matters but Shelby doesn't make much as it is. Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk
It is more complicated than that. I'm sure he has a lot of input on the subject. He will not be allowed to speak until his council decides. The NFL has never taken the side of a player in a pending case with the law that I am aware of. Why would they make a statement prior to the outcome? Sets them up for a loss. Say the outcome of the case is in the players favor? Maybe the guy did not do anything at all? He has not been proven guilty of a crime while waiting for the outcome. I would sue the team. Suspension without pay means he can go to another team. He is not cut. He is not paid. but can't get another job. NOT FAIR
Due process? Since when does due process have anything to do with a job? I've never worked anywhere that gave two squeaky flying ****s about due process when it comes to distancing themselves from bad press? If he was sentenced without trial that's a problem with due process. If he's suspended until more info comes out that's just SOP in American business.
I guess you haven't had a very good job then. You are saying that regardless if you were innocent or not, you would be sent away without pay before the facts present themselves in the court of law?
Um yeah. If you worked in a very public job and your name gets attached to a very public negative press, the company will distance itself from you before there;s a trial. Hell, the event doesn't even need to be criminal and they'll distance themselves from you. Its fairly common. I get we wish there was this perfect utopia out there, where fair always happens, but that doesn't exist here.
I'm not crazy about his behavior in this incident, but he is young and he isn't a player who seems to have had incidents in the past. Everyone is entitled to a mistake and therefore I am certainly willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and hopefully he will be given another chance by the organization. As far as needing him goes. Right now he is probably better than Jordan at DE and I would rather have Shelby as a backup than Jordan, at this stage of their careers.
Since I gave up on cocaine usually just peeing and pooping. Certainly not raw dogging whores. I don't get the whole sex in a public toilet thing. Doesn't work for me at all.
