I know this is the Draft Forum and it's for college players, but impressions?

So I play football locally and variously have played number of positions. When I was a MLB, we had a D-Lineman who was about 14 at the time who now plays in high school in the US. I don't know much about HS football over there as I've only focused on the NFL and NCAA. Anyone here like HS coaches or just guys with a pulse on what it takes to make the jump, can you tell me your thoughts on this kid? I'm really proud of him for getting the opportunity to play in the US and I'm really hoping he gets to the next level and eventually the NFL. Here's some video of him:

That site has multiple videos and it clearly outlines him before each play. He's 18, 6'1", and weighs 285.

I'm no recruiter but here are my thoughts:

    - Size could be an issue. I don't know if I believe that 6'1 listing

-Quick off the snap with a low center of balance which allows him to get under blockers and overpower them and drive them backwards

    -Disengages well

    -Good Pursuit

-I question the talent level he is going against. Looks like its a lower possibly 2A division

His biggest issues he is going to face are his size (classic tweener case) and the level of competition/exposure. With his less than ideal height (assuming he is about 5'10 to a shade under 6') it would be hard to leave him at DT; then on the other side you have his weight which could limit his position versatility. If I was a college coach I would be tempted to have him slim down 15 pounds to about 270 and play him as an edge-setting DE type role. I think if he plays in college that is the route he takes. With the competition level being rather low it might be harder to impress recruiters and to even get exposure. I could see him possible playing D-II though. Again take my opinion with a grain of salt...

He definitely looks like a solid player at the high school level. At the moment I'd put him at maybe 2-stars with the potential for some small school offers [non FCS stuff]. He plays and moves like a talented nose tackle, but at roughly 6'0 288, he needs to play and move like a disruptive 3-tech DT for the big schools to go after him. It might be of interest to him to weigh the pros and cons of leaning up a little like UCF mentioned.
