Great win this week for the good guys! Solid game overall, but STs has me concerned...hope they can get it ironed out. Back to forward...Jacksonville is coming off their first win this season against a decent Browns team (trap game?). I really don't know much about Jacksonville...haven't paid them any attention at ALL this season (ever since 62-7 really). Just going by season results thus far, I'd think another solid win like today, so I'm interested in any information you guys have regarding the Jaguars. Discuss.
My 14th Birthday...Worst. Birthday. Ever! As far as Jacksonville goes, they've got Gus Bradley's defense, which schematically will look like Seattle's and they have some former Seahawks' parts in Chris Clemons and Red Bryant. Hopefully the pass-rush will rattle Bortles - those receivers look pretty explosive, but I thought the Bears receivers would've had their way FAR more than they did today. Nice to see Michael Thomas and Jamar Taylor get some run time.
We just beat the Bears on the road and have San Diego at home in two weeks. This is the very definition of a trap game.
We will be favored in this game and we need to come out and step on their throats from start to finish. I like that we took the ball first today. Let's make it a trend, set the tone. Come on, Joe, seize the moment.
Yes, but could be worse. I'd much rather play the winless team after they win their first game than if they were still winless
Not going to think about Jacksonville until Wednesday, but I'm glad they got their first win today. Takes away some pressure.
Good thing they beat the Browns.... I was having memories of winless Bucs from last year. I said at dinner last night, "Oh don't worry, we'll beat the Bears and lose to the Jaguars." Hope that is wrong! Trap game with the Chargers at home a week later.
this is not a trap game but jacksonville is 3rd in the league in sacks going into this weekend. This is our achilles heel. we have trouble vs top ten pressure units. strangely though they are near the bottom in passing yds allowed and avg against the run. maybe its because of their secondary that teams just decide to throw all day long against them and they get sacks as a byproduct but watch out. if our oline cant handle their pass rush its going to be a long day
I think it can be a trap. I mean the following 3 games are huge. 5-2 San Diego at home, at 5-2 Detroit, Bills at home in primetime. Playoffs can be won or lost. NEED to win that Buffalo game. SD is very important too. I mean every game is pretty much huge now. But if you have a winning record going into Denver, having beat JAX, SD & BUF, you don't need to worry about that game as much... don't want to go into Denver needing a win. This is where they show if they can actually have consistency. I mean, the Dolphins are currently ranked 4th in total defense and 4th in pass defense, 5th in rush offense. Its time to string together a winning streak, its a critical time.
Remember the Dolphins playing the winless Bucs on the road last season? The Oranges are not a great team. See what the Dolphins did to the Raiders? If they can't win this game pack in the rest of the season because the Chargers and Lions are next up.
I actually still don't think the Browns are very good. Hoyer has been great, but the reality is they have been playing over their heads. Not shocked the Jags beat them. IMO We are looking at a 27-10 type victory.
IDK, I think the Jaguars defense might cause some headaches and keep it close. But Dolphins should pull this out, OUR defense should have a big game. They've been playing well and need to pick apart this team. This is they type of game they need to dominate with a rookie QB and sketchy backfield.
The Dolphins are 3-3. There really isn't any reason for a .500 team to have a trap game. They aren't good enough to overlook anyone, yet.
I think we win but this is a game our defense needs to go off on. Our offense is going to get bogged down. Its going to be a field position game and we don't have the best kicker. They are going to sack the hell out of us and unfortunately their secondary seems to have turned a corner and isn't giving up the big plays like they were the first four games. They are very good vs the run also so bet the under
Maybe Wannestedt can hang some lobster traps from the ceiling again. The line is Miami -5.0. I like our chances of covering.
The Bears took away the deep stuff...it ain't like it's a strength anyway...we should have plenty to take advantage of.
Games like this turn into trap games because some players try to pad their stats and don't play as a team leaving the team exposed. Hopefully our D plays as a unit and holds the Jags to under 20 points. Bortles has a penchant for throwing INTs 10 so far this year, but he also has more throws 20+ yards and has a high completion percentage over 65%.
Keep in mind that they are going to be down 2 out of 7 starters on defense up front. Posluszny is out for the season and Branch is out for like 6 weeks.
Is Henne still starting for Jax? I told myself that I was going to keep up with him this season, but somehow that didn't happen according to plan.
Can't sleep on Jacksonville.....They play for 60 minutes and they have some nice pieces on that team. Allen Robinson is having a great rookie season and Denard Robinson is looking more and more like a legit back for them. We'll have our hands full no doubt. A must win if we want to make the playoffs.
Posluszny (out for the year) and Branch (out for 6 games) were hurt yesterday. So, we'll miss them which helps.
Their offense will self destruct if we contain them and prevent the big play. As long as everyone continues to tackle well, and the offense plays it smart, I see something like 23-10.
