Halftime tied. Could have been winning but bad plays are going to happen with a true freshman QB. Game is a must win if we want to win our side of the ACC. Which is completely possible.
They get the ball back first and it would be nice for our defense to straighten out right away. Don't let this become a shootout where we are constantly down 7
Worst part is I actually think Al Golden himself is a really good coach who could succeed if he'd get a defensive coordinator who doesn't suck ***. My secret dream is John Gruden deciding to coach UM. He was rumored in the past but we had some clouds hanging over the program. Maybe he would feel different now with the infractions behind us and a strong talent pool.
I think gruden is a raider, personally - He still has a "Raider Cave" at his house and his family loves the bay area. Golden is fine, his players play for him, he's a pretty good recruiter, but his friendships (like some other coaches we might know) are biting him in the ***. He's got to get rid of the DC and soon, or Miami is never going to compete. Frankly, i'm concerned that Miami has lost it's swagger and Mojo and they are dangerously close to never being able to recover it.
See I feel the opposite. I feel like we are right on the edge of recapturing it, closer than a long time. The issue is as you said...Golden and his choice of DC among other things. Kaaya looked good last night even though the stat sheet won't show it. We have our QB, skill positions, good defensive talent. This defensive scheme and coaching is just laugh worthy. Or tear worthy.
Deflating. Got a stupid facemask call after stuffing them on 4th and 1, then gave up a TD that drive.
Kaaya has so much potential. I can't wait to see what he looks like next year in this offense. Hopefully Duke Johnson stays another year. I think right now he's a 3rd-4th rounder but he could become a late first or early second by staying in school. If not though Yearby looks like he's the real deal. Reminds me a bit of Clinton Portis in his running style but a better pass catcher and route runner. Future looks bright if we can just figure out playing defense consistently.
While I'm happy we beat Cincinnati 55-34, I'm disappointed that they still managed to get 34 points from us. That is not good defense. We should have kicked their *** and shut them out. Oh, wait. It's not 2002, my bad.
Most of it came once the defense let off the gas later in the game. Though it still shouldn't have happened.
Well guys a bye week and then a Thursday night against Virginia Tech. I have no doubt Kayaa is the real deal. He just makes great reads and makes some ridiculous throws. He drops the ball into a bucket down field. If he keeps progressing we are in great hands there. Would love to see him get his first road win next Thursday.
Kayaa is definitely a student of the game. He sounds like one of those guys that's the first one in the building for practice and the last one out.
The thing I love about him is that he goes through progressions. He pretty much JUST turned 19 and he goes through progressions better than some seniors in the country do. One thing he needs to get better at is knowing when to just zip the ball in on those sideline routes. However he just looks like a QB on the field. I'm ridiculously excited for next year with him at QB after a full season starting and an offseason improving. Can the defense just PLEASE get better though? We have the talent. The reality is...we should have expected to lose to Louisville and Nebraska with a true freshman. We almost won the latter. Georgia Tech is the only one that pisses me off so far. We have a bye, then at VT and then North Carolina state at home. We MUST win both of these games. After that we have FSU at home and I'll tell you what...I have a good feeling about this one. Do we win? Probably not unfortunately but I predict we give them a legitimate scare.
I get really upset when I see how good the offense is, but know it's pointless cuz the defense will never get better.
It's amazing how fundamentally sound Kaaya is as a true freshman. All the problems I had with the offense last year, abandoning the middle of the field, not utilizing the TE enough, not throwing to Duke enough, have disappeared. Obviously it wasn't a Coley problem, but a QB problem. Not to mention Kaaya already does a much better job progressing through his reads than Morris did as a senior...
As a true Freshman Brad Kaaya is: #33 In Passing Yards (He doesn't have near the attempts as most ahead of him) #14 in Yards Pet Attempt #37 in Completion Percentage #19 In Passing Touchdowns tied with a few others It's pretty cool to see our true freshman putting up those kind of numbers. He can only improve from here.
Just needs to cut down on the bad decisions, interceptions. That's the only problem I see with his game right now other that being a statue in the pocket. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Huge game tonight I'm pumped. I think Kaaya gets his first road win. As I've said...the GT game pissed me off but I expected to lose the other two based on circumstance. This is a good team...we just need to play defense at a high level consistently. We have in spurts.
Kaaya is the real deal, imo. Just looking at his stats, he's been amazing. He should have a great game, and if nothing else, gain a lot of experience. I don't think he's another Jacory Harris, who looked great at first, and then was hot & cold.
24-0 at halftime and Duke Johnson is having a monster game. What a talent. One more year Duke...one more year!
The Virginia Tech secondary has been amazing. Kaaya has been smart with his throws and not forcing it. That long TD would have been a nice reward for that.
