Piss off with that nonsense Travis..it's not a good look. Back on topic.http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...ommentary-1020-20141019-column.html?track=rss The article suggests that simplifying the game plan and incorporating the read option is the way to go.. Same thing with dion Jordan, it should of always been about training him to be incredibly diverse, not pigeon holing him to learn one nuance or one position first then go from there..no, should be about game planning using all weapons and learning That way from the get.
Exactly...its about him being a QB. If they shut down the read option..he needs to be able to beat them from the pocket. He needs to be a true multi threat..not one where he needs his legs to be a threat with his armm
Wtvr, your not gonna be able to keep him in the pocket when he has the proper weapons..stop bringing up Wilson, I sure as hell didn't bring him up, and I never do, it's always defending the guy, your third round comment is all that I need to know,it's always about trying to discredit or to claim that he isn't what he's already shown he is with you guys..disappointing. You wanna talk Wilson make a thread or join the club
Any time I think DJ is getting to full of himself..Im just gonna go Russel Wilson is a system QB..and Cam Wake looks like hes getting flabby round the mid section... Wonder who he would defend first
That's not what I got out of the article.. I think most everyone can now agree that the read option and him incorporating his legs in the offense is the way to build this offense..ya know, cater to his strengths.
Ian Wharton piece is decent. "...For the Dolphins, this is the recipe for success. Having offensive balance takes the pressure off Tannehill and his receivers, who have dropped fewer passes recently and seem to be playing well within the scheme. As the players become more comfortable in Lazor’s offense, there should be less thinking and more playmaking. Miami’s victory against the Bears could be a turning point in the Dolphins' season. The Dolphins offense must continue to execute at a high level to reach the playoffs in 2014. With the blueprint set, the fireworks could just be starting."
Huh? Keeping him in the pocket has nothing to do with his weapons. It's about squeezing the pocket and having a spy/robber just in case. Ill admit that strategy would be more risky if he had better receivers but I'll take my chances with him beating me from the pocket vs letting him run around and do his thing.
I agree...and just because they run the read-option doesn't mean RT will keep it at all...but it still makes the defense jittery. There's now tape on recent running and read-option working well for RT. It will be schemed against, Lazor just has to stay a step ahead and work some mojo in there.
Wtf r u talking about.? Like really, what are you saying? They have Doug Baldwin and Jerome Kearney as their 1 and 2... Who is the 3? Who's their their two tight ends?
I still don't like him running this much. I get that it loosens him up, but it gives me a bad feeling he's gonna get hurt. Especially as defenses gameplan for it more seeing how often we're doing this stuff. I just don't know if it's sustainable given his meh open-field awareness and meh quick twitchiness. Hope I'm wrong though, cause it seems like something he needs to do right now to keep this offense in top gear. Lazor is the man, btw. Phenomenal gameplan from him this week.
I disagree. I put his long term health ahead of the short term gains to be made from running him 7-8 times every week. That's something Lazor should bust out as little as possible, in specific games, must win situations, when the O is stagnant and in needs of a spark etc.
Ok, were philosophically worlds apart.. So you wanna Go back to Sherman? why would you want to do that considering how obviously more dangerous he is when using the formation and the entire skillset?
Agreed... and he's such a polarizing subject it hard to have objective talk. Say something positive, the critics come after you. Something critical or less than positive, the other side comes after you. Makes it hard to have constructive conversation about him. He is playing better though.
Fair point, but Sherman had an OL that couldn't block. I don't think Lazor is doing anything special, I think he has a much bigger tool box to work with and he's using it effectively.
He's no bust definitely and he has flashed. I would like to see him beat defenses like the AFC East who like to pressure the QB and defend the short to intermediate passes. The Bills, Pats and Jets will dare Tannehill to try and buy time to take the top off the defense. He's deep ball isn't consistent enough to get over a defense flooding the bottom 2/3rds of the field so it's a gamble they are willing to take. Their blitzes will force him to not have enough time to look down field. The read option may be a way to keep the defense honest but I would also like to see him expose such a defense with chunk passing yards.
With just a hair more protection on the first play in the Bears game, he'da thrown a very deep one. They'll be planned and be there...the more confidence the whole offense gets, the better chance they have at these IMHO.
People became "detractors" because he was consistently bad. He became consistently good for a game and a half. If he keeps it up obviously all Dolfans will be on his jock. Big if though.
It was one of his best games. He and Lazor seem to be clicking more and more. Lazor appeared to have more confidence in him. The play calling seemed more interesting and better suited to what Tanne does best. The absolute best part of Tanne's game was that he actually went through his progressions. He didn't lock onto guys nearly as much. Imo, that was his best improvement by far. He had a great game. Major props. Lets really hope he can put some more of these games together and have a little consistency. If so, we can be in good shape, but lets see next week.
Just keep playing towards what he does best. Let him be mobile when he needs to and keep him in the pocket the rest of the time. It's stupid to not play towards his strengths. That'd be like New England running the Read Option with Brady. Makes no sense. And I'm over the deep ball. Don't care. Get the ball to Wallace with space and let him RAC.
trying to figure out what I'm gonna call you, honda just doesn't work for me, lol. what the heck is a piston honda anyway?? is that like briefcase tacos? back to the point...you play to win the game bro.
The wife calls me @sshole lol. Got the handle from a video game, Mike Tyson's punch out, first car was an accord, didn't put much thought into it as you can tell. Sure you play to win the game, but the best teams peak in December/January, you don't want your QB all beat up, not when your backs are hitting at 5+ yards per.
Like your sig. Win Loose Draw. Its football. There are no points for second place or third in our case. It is not a dig at the team. It is what is is. People can call it what you want. Last year many on this board tried to crucify me when I made a point about this team not having swagger. I believe Philbin even had a press conference so he could say we didn't have it. What a sad day to be a dolphin Fan. a guy afraid to have "IT", define it how ever you want to, is out of touch This coach is weak. I am sure he is a nice guy and I am sorry for what his family has went thru with the lose of their son. The Miami Dolphins lack consistency and an identity - they mirror who their coach is I could stomach loosing every other game if other teams didn't want to play us because they knew they were going to get kicked in the teeth and need 2 weeks to recover. Win , loose or Draw that's an identity. Until we know who we are how do we win? Obviously coach is still trying to figure it out.
Thats because alot of the people here werent even around for the Nintendo Entertainment System..lol.... I thought it was a great name..lol
Since this thread has clearly opened up beyond self named detractors, I will throw in my two cents. I believe Thill will continue to improve. Also, I believe the following are legitimate criticisms and areas for improvement from his play this year: - staring down receivers - not following his progression - accuracy on the deep ball - too many batted balls - lack of touch on screens and TD throws - accuracy and ball placement - holding the ball too long - play speed During the Chicago game he showed improvement in all of these except the deep ball and holding the ball too long. I believe he has shown improvement with most of these over the last three games, but it has been a while since I watch those games.
long term, piston is right. You want tannehill to continue playing inside the pocket. That's where the great qbs thrive. Its ok to have him run a bit but you don't want him doing it too much or he will be on ir before the season is over
Do this and This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O1BpDLTJns PROBLEMS SOLVED
Now I've been incredibly pessimistic all year long. My optimism was shot after the Bills loss in Week 6 (after the bye to Thad Lewis at home) and it was trampled on after we lost the last 2 games last year. Had 0 faith this year, but... There's a little glimmer now. It's been said a couple of times - the Bruce Arians quote - where QBs need at least half the season to really get a feel for the offense. Maybe, just maybe we're starting to see that with Tannehill now? Two solid performances vs Jacksonville & SD will turn that glimmer into actual belief and hope.
FWIW Running your QB 4-5 times a game isn't dangerous if he's smart. RGIII and Vick just had the brains of a doorknob. Hence their injuries.
Wow really? When is his HOF induction? Meanwhile Russell has been good for three seasons and so has Luck, not having gone a season missing the playoffs by the way!
WTF? All the guy said was that Tannehill has been good the last 2 1/2 games and you come back with that crap? This post is PRECISELY why many of us feel like the detractors are not being reasonable, because it just screams of being emotionally based.
What does 2 and a half mean? Is that called consistency? If so then your bar is still Jay Fiedler. If Tannehill does not make the playoffs this season we need to be done with this guy by January.
