Rodgers will be #1? I don't doubt he has the talent, but he's going to need 2 more championships to make that debatable because of all of Peyton's records IMO. Right now the Packers is the Rodgers/Lacy/Nelson show and that's not enough to win a championship. That defense isn't good enough.
Just like any football fan, I have been in many arguments over who the best quarterback of all time is and obviously it's called an argument for a reason... there is no right answer. I can understand when people argue Peyton is better than Marino but when I hear Montana, Favre, Elway over Marino! It blows my mind. Here is what I found to be the most effective argument in supporting Dan Marino: Ask them to recall the times they were watching a Manning, Brady, Rodgers, or Brees game and one of them had just broken a record or was close to breaking a record or just reached the top 5 of all time in a QB stat. Then ask them who's name was on that list or who's record they just broke almost every ****ing time? Marino, Marino, Marino? If they don't agree with you then they're stubborn or stupid. Hes is maintaning records and sitting in top lists with QB's in today's era, I mean cmon. I have yet to see any list Montana was on other than super bow rings.
you may want to **** Kurt Warner, but he's right: 1) Marino was always an excellent passer, one of the best, but a mediocre QB. Dan was always all about himself & that's why he failed to bring home the bacon for the franchise. 2) with all the hype, we could never win a SuperBowl with Marino because of Marino. as a matter of fact, in all his time as a Dolphin he only made one SuperBowl, lost the game & was vanquished never to return! 3) make no stupid excuses. none are valid, all are contrived & twisted. it is what it is... I often find myself wondering what the **** is Marino doing on the team now! Peyton, Montana, Favre, Elway, Unitas, Young, Brady, Aikman, Otto Graham, Broadway Joe & Aaron Rodgers all in the top eleven of all time QB's easy, easy. personally, I'd take Jim Kelly & Warner & several others over Marino straight up.
Man, I know you can troll pretty hard sometimes but this is just ridiculous. Troy Aikman a better quarterback? Joe Montana? What did Joe Namath ever do to warrant being considered a GOOD qb? He won a super bowl that he guaranteed a victory in... A game where he threw for 195 yds and no tds.. Brady over Marino? Why because he had better teams? Rodgers? The man is talented... he's been a starter for like seven years and he's a better qb than Dan Marino?Does it sound good in your head before you post, or do you know it's not a good idea and still post anyway?
marinos best running backs..mark hiiggs..abdul jabbar...lol never had a good defense..never..no hall of fame wide receivers or tight ends...washed up keith jackson was his best tight end, clayton and duper his two best receivers.. weak sauce *** team around him..the whole time.
Probably the single worst post Ive read on this site to date. To each their own, buts thats some real horse****
You HAVE to be joking, right??? Do your homework: https://espn.go.com/sportscentury/features/00016179.html
Correction. it was ALL Miami Heat HATE for 4 years....and it continues till today. Open your ears, and eyes. All I can say.
Uh...WOW. almost ALL OF THOSE GUYS would say that they weren't as good as Dan themselves! Dan Marino is a top 5 Quarterback, period. There is no debate. Let Aaron Rodgers finish his career before we fix that top 5. 1. Peyton Manning 2. Joe Montana 3. Tom Brady 4. John Elway 5. Dan Marino (and only a lack of a ring keeps him from #3, IMO)
Tom Brady is not a top 5 QB IMO. The guy didn't win a title without cheating. I'd put Marino ahead of him. Hell, I'd put Drew Brees ahead of Brady. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I am a big fan of Joe Montana but he does not belong in the top 3 and I'd honestly be hard pressed to put him in the top 5. Johnny Unitas, although I am too young to have seen him play, belongs in any GOAT discussion. He did it in a different era.
Setting 61 records is not enough for them, you gotta have rings. Using that logic, Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Marino.....that is how irrational that statistic is. Marino is the best, BY FAR that I ever saw, and that includes the ones playing today, including Manning.
There is NO WAY that you are a Dolphins fan and I really think the mods should BAN YOU from posting on this site for your asinine remarks about arguably the best QB in League history...I for one will no longer pay any attention to your post.
Dude, Super Bowl wins is the most overrated benchmark when deciding on how great a QB is. Winning a Super Bowl doesn't you're a great QB. It just means you're on a great team.
Peyton has not had a SB performance that has impressed me yet. Hell the one championship he won he didnt deserve the MVP, Dominic Rhodes deserved it more.
Two best QBs in history, IMHO, Danny and Peyton...both very bad Championship records...isn't that weird? Are they leaned on too much to the detriment of the rest of the team? I think so.
Depends on if you like a system qb or a qb who were the system. If you like guys who were the system Marino, Manning, Elway should be at the top of your list.
If you want to look at the different era QBs, as much as I loved Johnny U, I think Otto Graham should be above him.
I see what most of you are saying I guess I just want the dolphins to be a major threat so bad I can taste it. in terms of Marino passing yards I wonder what kind of success Dan could have had if we had Ronnie and Ricky and Wallace and Welker or a bruising tight end ?
Dan Marino, our hero who couldn't get it done I presented the total argument on Marino's mediocrity in terms of a franchise QB. it was complete, compelling & undeniable. just can't debunk the facts. those in the know of dolphin football have his number & good! look it up if you're interested. it's in my posts, probably last year sometime. get over itDan the Man a fan-based man-crush turned legend in his own mind perpetuated & facilitated by the wishful thinking & hopes of millions in Dolfandom. he was a mediocre QB & excellent passer, no more. I want nothing to do with this meaningless & warped idolatry surrounded Dan Moreno. he simply was never that good. I know love is blind...but please, no more excuses Kurt was right!
I. Am. Speechless. "he was simply never that good" ??????? there are these things called stats that disagree with you thankfully......
He must have taken your girl away from you to be so blind to the stats..put Danny on the niners and they would have doubled theirnSuper Bowl wins and Montana here would have zero rings as well..go back to your man crush Dilfer.
Wow man, usually I enjoy your insights even if I don't agree with them, which actually is rare, but this is so inexcusably incorrect I don't even know where to start.
The only way to compare players from different eras is to see how much better (or worse) those players are in regards to their peers. No one, not Montana, Elway, Young etc, came close to what Marino was able to do. Marino shattered records..he didn't just beat them by one or two TD's or a couple of passing yards. In today's game, no one comes close to P. Manning. However, Marino was further ahead of his peers than Manning is of his. Top QB's to ever play...in no real order: Graham Unitas Marino Staubach Tarkenton Manning Moon Starr Baugh Fouts Honorable mention: Tittle, Favre, Elway I can see Rodgers being there one day. Brady, IMO, is not a top 10 all time great. He's today's Bradshaw or Aikman. HoF QB's for sure, but they never carried their teams like the true top 10 were/are able to do.
