Will we see consistency against better defenses soon?

Chicago and Oakland are two of the worst defenses in the NFL. The Packers shut down the Dolphins offense the first half, and then their starting CB's get hurt allowing Miami to pick on the backups. The main reason the Dolphins won today is because the Jaguars are terrible on offense. Jags shot themselves in the foot pretty much every drive. The Bills and Patriots had more points than the Dolphins had yards until just before the half.

So what happens when the Dolphins face good defenses with offenses that can actually score points soon? Lions, Bills, Broncos, Ravens, Patriots in NE all coming up. The offense can't play bad for half a game against those teams, who won't shoot themselves in the foot a bunch like JAX. Have to play better for the majority of these games.

I mean lets all enjoy the back-to-back wins and a 4-3 record, but they have to turn it around on offense and play complete games against better opponents than Oakland, Jacksonville and Chicago. A bit worrying, but last season they failed to beat teams like that so its nice to see them get that done so far in 2014.

And why were they allergic to running the football before the 4th quarter? Miller did well when he actually did run it, Thomas did as well. They've done better with a good mix, need to keep that up throughout the game.

But the players weren't happy with the performance after the game, which is another good thing. They know they need to work on things, here's to hoping they can make it happen. Its looking like a tougher year to make the playoffs than last year when 9-7 was good enough, so they need to ramp it up.

We need is consistency for the offensive line. They were very bad in the first half. They were so bad that play Dallas Thomas improved the line play. Yikes!!

no offensive line isnt good enough. we will have to wait till the offseason unless we trade for a OG before expecting consistency against good pass rushing teams

Colledge (migraine) wrecked our first half. All three drives we had were ruined because our LG let the DT blow right past him. I'm not saying it's all his fault but the two sacks killed each drive. Hopefully he's healthy and ready to go against SD.

That said, its not that we didn't play well on offense against the Jags, we just never had the ****ing ball. The jags were controlling the clock with long drives and then bortlers throws the pick 6. Which is great for us, but it also just gives the jags the ball right back. Our defense basically played the entire first half. They had the ball forever and did nothing with it. Its the kind of thing you want to do against Peyton. Don't let him on the field.

Ball was perfect. On the run no less. that play was the play that blew this game open. prior to that point our offense was lifeless. The game obviously wasn't going well for JAX up until that point but that was the moment they knew they were done.

College's "head" issues were a huge part of it early on. I wonder if he somehow got a concussion on the first play of the game? Then we got a first down around midfield very early on and it was called back due to a ticky tack penalty on Albert lining up wrong. Hartline also had a base case of the drops today. Things just couldn't get going.

I don't put a lot of it at the feet of Tannehill, but that interception was just pure stupidity. First and goal and he tried to throw it into five defenders? Come on, man.

Agreed and thought it was a horrible play call as well.

Bad call, bad throw, they deserved the INT.

Hopefully they can build off that and start making those on a more consistent basis.

I think the problem remains the OL. They are effective against the bottom tier defensive teams, but they aren't good enough at this time to play consistently against the better defensive teams in the NFL.

It would not surprise me in the least if the Dolphins don't take another offensive lineman with their first pick in the 2015 draft. They don't really have a starting type LG on the roster and Satele is nothing more than a one year stop gap for the offensive line.

If Pouncey moves back to center next year, the Dolphins have to find answers for the two starting guard positions. I just don't know if the answer for these positions are on the roster right now or not.

Without a solid OL in front of him, Tannehill seems to get rattled and hurries his throws quite often after being sacked early in games. With a better OL, Tannehill has shown that he can be an effective passer when given time to throw.

The OL is better than it was last year, but it is still a major work in progress.

I think Turner will own one of those spots.

I hope so, but a lot of people on here thought the same thing in regards to Dallas Thomas. Of course I do feel Turner has a far larger upside than Thomas.

When is Shelley coming back? The thing with Turner and Shelley is, they are good at second level, really good.

I don't care for Pouncey, he will seek a ton of money, and for that reason should not be kept.

Dallas Thomas plays much better at LG. It is his natural position and one he played pretty well at Tn.
