It can't be clear glass..clear glass doesn't provide shade..which is the purpose.

This depiction on Miami Dolphins.com looks like there are rows of seats closer to the field and clear glass that doesn't appear to provide any shade.

Is it even glass though? My thought, from the fact that it looks white when shown from above (and no glare/reflection) is that its some sort of translucent material that lets some light through. Glass would seem both a poor choice, and a dangerous one.

I'm sure they know what their doing in the glass roof thing..the main thing is how exactly are they going to get seats closer to the field?

Why is not being talked about, why don't we know exactly the blueprint of what their thinking about.?

Bottom row seats could easily be added on a level surface. The depiction though shows the elevated seats which I believe is what will happen. A change in the foundation is not an obstacle when you're pulling out and replacing all the seats anyway. It's a matter of destroying part of the concrete and resurfacing it. That's much easier and less costly than a complete rebuild.

I shoot photos for a DI football team and in my experience, college stadiums have WAY less sideline room than NFL stadiums. I also have to be further from the playing field (look for the photogs hanging out behind the yellow lines) which means that subsequent space behind the photo section is going to be larger. None of that really makes any difference but just my two cents. Also, i hope we get rid of the orange seats so I can buy a few!

I feel bad for all of the fans that have had upper level corner seats for years..it looks like in dropping to 65000 seats that is where they are coming out..where do they put the fans?

Probably b/c they prob haven't finished the engineering design work for it.

Keep in mind, it will still have to be wide enough for a soccer field...

I've had upper level corner seats for years, which look like they will among those they are getting rid of. I'm also curious about how they plan to deal with us. Hopefully, they will offer us some of the new seats closer to the field.

Putting some seats closer to the field might help a little, but the other fans are still sitting just as far away from the field as they were before. I think the improvement in the 12th man environment will be nominal.

To accommodate the extra seats in the lower bowl, it appears to me that they are lowering the height of the front row, bringing it closer to the field. If you look at the wall that goes all the way around the field, it's quite high. Guesstimate 10 feet. No Lambeau leap here... but I believe they are going to lower the height of that wall, bring seats in (could be adding 4 rows?). If you do that all the way along, save for the new entrance/exit areas, that could go a long way to totaling up the new seat increases. And players can now dive into the front rows after scoring touchdowns.. forget Lambeau leap... it's now Dolphin Dive? Miami Mount? Touchdown Toss? :shifty: hmmm... Phin Flip?

The other point is the awning/roof apparatus. There are two components. The solid one that gives the upper bowl it's shade. This looks to extend in and outside the stadium's outer border. I don't really care what that is made out of. But the steel bar looking inner component has me curious. It doesn't seem to serve an immediate purpose just looking at the "sketches." But I wonder in time, if it creates a foundation for a retractable roof? I believe there was a reference to this no?

The roof/canopy will probably have more to do with that than the seats being closer. Depending on how the roof is constructed/engineered, it could be a lot louder than it is currently.

That is big helping to keep the noise in but I also believe the most important feature for us fans is the shade. I know ticket sales will increase greatly to keep us out of the sun and the rain. I also feel we need some easier access for those that are disabled.

Agreed, at this point though, I will take any improvements over the piece of crap unprogressive cancer of a venue it is right now.

When winning anyone can sellout, well, not us on a consistent basis even if we are winning, it's about finding the balance and true amount of hardcore fans relative to your seating capacity.

I lived in south florida a long time, I never missed a game at joe Robbie, pro player, sun life, or the Orange bowl.

I understand completely how one venue helped build the cultures of two programs and how the other destroyed them.

Ok Deej..my mistake..I understand completely how you feel..as a Dolfan and a Cane as well I feel the same way..I would much rather them both STILL be in the Orange Bowl as I have been to many games as well even though I am up on the treasure coast..I think you also understand that like yourself many Dolfans are no longer in South Florida and have moved too far away to participate. Lol I remember when they all wanted to copy Joe Robbie's vision and build stadiums like ours...I am praying the house is rockin today

I don't get it. Two winning teams at mid season. As someone who grew up outside of Pittsburgh, I can't get into the midset of South Florida Fins fans. I'd be a season ticket holder and there for every second of every game if I were local.

Oh wow it says many of the renovations will be done for the 2015 season. Roof included?

I just read an article they did research on making it so the canopy traps more sound in. (Probably wanting a Seattle effect)

The seating shouldn't be too hard. That must be part of the 2015 along with the video boards and other things. Maybe the canopy will be last though for 2016 since they have to do the upperdeck stuff first.

Please do not forget that South Florida is FULL of transplants...there are many fans of every team in South Florida as well as alot of transplants that do not watch American Football..that along with a ton of Fins fans that have moved out of South Florida..We are a hodge podge of transplants. .please also keep in mind that as of the last count I am aware of 15 years ago..Florida has 27% native Floridians..believe me I am right there with y'all wanting Dolfan sell outs for every game.

My office in south Florida has 10 people in it. 7 are NFL fans, and it breaks down as such:

    1 Bronco fan
    1 Jet fan
    1 Giant fan
    1 Partriots fan
    1 Bears fan
    2 Fin fans

No other market deals with that type of diversity...

There are others, but the ones of comparable size also have attendance problems when the teams aren't great. NY also has a huge amount of diversity, plus two teams there, but the population base is just so large that it's not as much of an attendance problem.
