Remaining Schedule: @ DET BUF (Thurs) @ DEN @ NYJ BAL @NE MIN NYJ this has gotten VERY simple. Win the 5 games (4 home games and 1 at Jests) you will be favorited to win... and that gets you to ten wins. Do that and we should be in the playoffs. Pick off one of those 3 very tough road games? and we can get in to rarified air territory here. Lets go to work.
With the way the AFC is right now, i'd feel much better at 11-5 than 10-6. Just so many teams with winning records right now. It will thin out in the coming weeks. Looking at that schedule, barring a situation like last year at the end of the season, 11-5 seems very reasonable right now, assuming we split the tough games and win the games we should win.
I'm less optimistic. I think the Patriots and Broncos games, both on the road, are losses. So that puts us at 5-5 needing 5 wins out of these 6 games - @ DET BUF (Thurs) @ NYJ BAL MIN NYJ Even if looking at those games looks like we SHOULD win 5, that's still tough in the NFL - any given Sunday and all that. Stealing one from NE or DEN would make the path much easier. But it's really really hard to see that happening - especially since we stole one from NE, already.
Well...we happen to match up very well against the Patsies..if we can keep the blasted refs out of the way and they don't get away with their right tackle holding Cam Wake on every play then we can keep Brady rattled all game and beat them again..we also happen to be a very good team my friends!! GO FINS!!
Reasonably there are 4 wins there. We should be favored against NYJ and MIN. We have a reasonable chance of beating Buffalo if our line plays well and Tannehill keeps growing. BAL is playing weak right now so if that continues we have a chance against them. DET is a game I just can't call. Our DB's played a hell of a game against the Bears' receiving corps and we've shown the ability to stave off good rushing for a win. Anything less than 9-7 is a collapse IMO. Anything more than 9-7 is maturation.
Im loving that Buffalo Thursday game though. With the energy Sun Life will have, and the fact its Buffalo, adrenaline alone will negate the 4 days rest, and then we get a mini bye week.
Yes the mini bye before the Bronco's game is nice. They looked entirely beatable last night. The Buff game is much more important in the playoff race since it might determine if we can catch NE for the division.
IMO we match up well vs NE - theyre playing well but I like our chances. We match up well vs DEN on defense...I think we can make it a rough time for them. However, their pass rush concerns me. We'll have to do some screens, option, designed roll out to slow them up and cake ware/miller from Teeing off every down. Fortunately, we've been mixing that in week after week. To some extent, Buf and Det scare me a bit more right now.
Absolutely, as of now, if we finish the season with; 10 wins: Chance of playoff appearance = 62.1% 11 wins: Chance of playoff appearance = 98.8% Not sure that 10 wins is enough. The wildcard race is very tight and will not control our own destiny if we can only amount 10 total wins. Need 11 as it stands now. Link: http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NFL/AFC/AFCEast/Miami.html
Why do we have to steal one? Why can't we just beat them? For me the bottom line is our defense has been playing elite. Even in the loss to Buffalo they were much better than the score. With an elite defense we can win any gagame IMO.
I still have my sights on the division. If we can beat Detroit, we will be a half game out of 1st in the division. NE travels TO Indy the following week. Thats the week we play the Buffalo game. We could very well be sitting a atop the division in two weeks. We arent the only ones with a brutal schedule. NE: @ Indy Lions @ Packers @ San Diego Dolphins @ NY Jets Buffalo BUFFAlO Chiefs @ Miami Jets Browns @ Denver Packers @ Oakland New England
The AFC East may hinge on the health of one dominant, fragile TE who appears to enjoy a little night life. The Dolphins are capable of being right in it at the end, maybe even taking it. Just a few weeks ago that looked unlikely.
The Bills have to like their chances too. If they can beat us and KC they get Cleveland (overrated), Jets LOL and Oakland who is awful. Plus NE last gane of the year.
Man this schedule doesn't let up. I'm annoyed everytime I look at it for the umpteenth time. The only "Easy" games besides minnesota are division rival (Jests) and everybody knows how that goes. Division games are a toss up no matter how good or bad a team is.
Which is why if we make it to the playoffs...we should all be REALLY ****ING EXCITED. Because alot of times you get into the the dance, and your like, if we win one Ill be happy, because theirs no chance we're beating so and so. Not this year. If we get into the dance this year, we will have done so the BMF way.
If this team wants to get to the playoffs and win the playoffs they shouldnt think any team is an insta loss. Specially an AFC East rival. There is no reason the Dolphins can not be the Pats ( again). The Dolphins didnt steal a win against the Pats they beat the ever living piss out of them the 2nd half.
