Decent piece. There's some video breakdown of certain plays as well.

    .

It is great being able to get pressure with the front four. It's obviously very tough for any opposing QB to be successful when they're getting pressured as well as all of their receivers being covered and covered by really solid DBs.

Yeah, I came back to say the exact same thing. Please tell the mainstream media that we still suck on defense, our special teams are deplorable, and we only shut out San Diego because they let their cheerleaders play the first three quarters. Because if there's one thing we love being in Miami, it's the underdog. So let's keep that our little secret.

every time the media starts to talk us up, we seem to give them a reason to shut up and ignore us again.

An out of conference game is starting to turn into a huge unnecessarily big statement game for us. It will be huge if we show a dominant performance, but if we fold.... it gets ugly again, even though the bills game is so much more important at this stage of the season.

Let's hope this is the game that is a continuation of the chargers game that really makes us think twice about how this season is going to play out (in a good way).

If we're truly the best defense the the players will thrive on the hype, if their phoney's they will fold..

I've been waiting my whole dolphin life for the former.

I wonder how mad it would have made some of you if the article said they were the most overrated defense.

Just enjoy the positivity for once.

Our cb's are still getting dogged, don't worry. All I hear about is golden tate and calvin Johnson when people talk about this game. Cameron wake should be in discussion for dpoy, but he isn't. People still have no idea who ov is

This will prove Miami is for real. When they actually live up to the hype.

If this is the Same Old Dolphins, they are going to go on a losing streak, until they go on another winning streak, only to lose at the end to miss the playoffs.

If this is the new Dolphins, they win games people don't expect them to win (Other than San Diego and New England and Chicago) and win the game they are supposed to win (sweep the Jets. Yes the Dolphins have swept the Jets in the past)

This, this, this... a thousand times this. Bring on the spotlight. This team has earned it. Now, step up and prove you belong among the best.

As a fan of a team, it's difficult to trust your own perceptions. So, I asked a buddy... a Colts fan... what he had seen/heard and what he thought of the Fins' recent success.

He gave me a bland reply. They seem to be doing well. Tannehill is playing pretty good. He mentioned little about the defense. When I said they were #3 overall and, arguably, the current best defense in the NFL, he had no idea what I was talking about. He mentioned Wake and how he's getting older. Then, he talked about his Colt's defense.

    Seriously.

Outside of Miami, few people really understand the amount of talent on this team, and how well they have been playing lately. So, for all the 'hype' this team may have been getting, it seems most football fans either aren't paying attention, or aren't really giving us any respect.

    Yet.

Any ranking for any particular year is relative so if we finish tops then great. But IMO they better learn how to get off the field on 3rd & longs. Only then will I believe a top ranking will be something to brag about.

If you're going to be a good team eventually you're going to get hype. By saying you don't want hype you're saying you Don't want wins.

Most other fans perceptions are based on seeing the Fins on ESPiN...

Until we make the playoffs, it will probably stay this way. The fact that we've won 3 straight against the Bears, Jags, and Chargers has barely registered none of these teams have a huge following.

Besides, the last time we had a winning/meaningful record in Nov was 2003 and we finished that season 10-6, but missed the playoffs. Here's hoping for a better finish.

We have a beast d-line, practically impervious to even injury. We lose a good bit when we lose Misi, and while Misi and Jenkins have been lights out, with Wheeler playing both limited and vastly improved, we still have some modest talent and depth at LB. Secondary scares me. We have some very savvy vets, who are playing up to their contracts and beyond. Louie D, Grimey, Finnegan...we could lose something if any of those guys go down. THAT scares me a bit, especially after losing 31 for the season. We need to stay healthy, and we can roll on to the best defense in this league...despite a hard as hell schedule.

EDIT: The OP wasn't meant to be offensive or accusatory. I'm editing it to reflect the larger issue I have with this post so I don't derail the discussion.

The Dolphins have let down their fan base consistently for the last few decades. When the pressure is on, the team doesn't respond well. That trend is real. Not only in the near and distant past, but this season too. Huge New England win followed by two no shows. Nobody is crying wolf or "acting" abused. Until the Dolphins prove they can handle the pressure, they shouldn't be afforded slack. To do otherwise is the definition of insanity.

Take NE for example... When they were being killed by the media/thePhins after KC, I never changed my opinion of their team/Brady. They've earned that through consistent performance. When Miami starts acting like NE, I'll do the same for us. I'm not going to put on rose colored glasses just because I'm a fan.

i hear ya. i get nervous on 3rd and longs with our defwnse. For instance, the chargers got 18 yards on a 3rd and 19 play last week.

In reference to commentary, not participation..... It's a common example for blaming the victim. Why you chose to assume the latter, I don't know. Whatever. The point is, there's nothing wrong with DJ's comments about wanting to see Miami prove they can handle the hype. This team and organization is known to collapse when the pressure builds. It's not "acting" like a victim, if you're a real victim.

Jordan needs to replace wheeler. McCain can handle Jordan's role in long passing situations that. That would get both of them more snaps and I'm confident Jordan can blitz, cover man, cover zone, set the edge, and tackle better than Wheeler.

No way Jordan let's Quarless catch a comeback at the line to win the game when you and everyone knows its coming.

Jamar Taylor and will Davis need to get better. Jimmy is a good slot defender. If he goes out we rely on Taylor. If a safety also goes out, we need to sign someone.

Again, It's the most common and obvious example of the point I was making. Therefore, less likely to be misinterpreted. The poster before you seemed to get it. Considering you thought I was making a personal attack against him (seriously... why would would I?), I'm not sure a different example would have mattered. In hindsight, I shouldn't have left it it chance to begin with. I should have been blunt.

It's all good. The OP is edited, your fears have been allayed, and we can get back on topic.

Come on guys, let's stick to football analogies....for me, I prefer to leave the past as water under the bridge in fanship and look ahead with gusto! Our team is really playing awesome football and they are for real..I could never fully enjoy great play like this if I was worried we might slip up and lose. Any longtime Dolfan can see how good our team is right now. I just got an update from fansided that Miller will play.
