2008 The year of the Wildcat, destroying the Patriots up in Foxborough, winning the division & making the playoffs. At this point in the season we have the same record as 2008 so which team is more talented?
This team. That Dolphins team played against the NFC West when they were Horawful. They also played a pretty bad AFC West. Down the stretch they were playing bad Bill, Niner, Chief, Ram, Raider and Seahawk teams and they were all one-drive close games. They had one win by more than 2 TDs, the entire season and it was that first Wildcat game against the Jets. That team had better running backs but this team has a better defence, better receivers and a better QB. The 2-headed monster of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams was formidable but Lamar Miller is holding his own this year.
I think Lamar Miller gets too much hate. I mean, he's averaging 4.5 yards a carry for his career. Last year, with our abomination of an oline, he averaged 4 yards a carry. This year, averaging 4.9 yards a carry, and has 5 tds. I was really impressed with his running last night. Dude is playing strong this year.
Chad Pennington was exceptional in 2008. I'm biased as a Marshall fan, but he was 2nd in MVP voting. He was amazing.
As weird as it sounds I think the 2008 was more talented but this one is more dangerous. It seems like this team can adjust to any type of team it faces and function. The 2008 team was pretty one dimensional
2008 was unbelievable. Turnover margin was +17 with 30 takeaways & 13 giveaways. This year we're ranked 9th in Turnover Margin with 19 takeways & 16 giveaways. Definitely need to work on those turnovers.
The problem with Miller is he can only give us 10-12 carries per without getting nicked. That's fine if we had Moreno but we don't .
It is a damn shame his shoulder fell apart. I remember when he had tried to come back when our other qbs were playing like ****. He had one nice pass to Hartline and then injured his shoulder again. Penny was so damn smart as a qb.
2014 no question about it, tougher schedule too, 2008 was the year Brady went down and we had a cupcake schedule. This is our year, I can feel it.
As others have said, 2008 was the season where everything went right. Smoke and mirrors. Kind of like how everything went wrong in 2007. All of the teams from around that time were 6-10 talent. This year's team is a legit 10-6 club. The question is whether they live up to it.
This is no question they are more talented basically across the board this year. Its also why record isn't the end of the story when discussing level of play. We are better coached too.
Backfield with Ricky, Ronie and Penington was better. Oline is equal. Receivers are better today. The D is better today across the board, although that D was really good.
This has the potential to be the best Dolphins team I've experienced- and been adult enough to be aware of- in my 25 years of fandom.
