Right, but him losing track of the ball in the air very well could have been a result of looking at his position.
Yes it could have been, but it didn't look like it watching the replay. And again, this is a thing with Wallace (as has been illustrated by CK before).
Haters are so desperate to be right about something, due to a severe lack of esteem, that they will literally see things that aren't there to support their theories. It's sad really. They can't stand being wrong again, as it has happened so many times in their lives.
DJ, I posted up the numbers from Football Outsiders as they relate to Short/Mid/Deep/Bomb completion percentages, comparing Andrew Luck and Ryan Tannehill. The numbers were the complete numbers from the 2013 season. I compared to Luck because 1.everyone agrees that Luck is great, and 2.they came into the league at the same time. Both Andrew Luck and Ryan Tannehill complete "bombs" at the same percentage: 7%. Here they are again (I added in Peyton Manning and Drew Brees just for kicks): Ryan Tannehill Year Team Pos G GS YAC Rank Short Mid Deep Bomb 2013 MIA QB 16 16 4.4 41 41% 42% 10% 7% Andrew Luck Year Team Pos G GS YAC Rank Short Mid Deep Bomb 2013 IND QB 16 16 5.6 15 49% 30% 13% 7% Peyton Manning Year Team Pos G GS YAC Rank Short Mid Deep Bomb 2013 DEN QB 16 16 5.7 10 55% 26% 13% 6% Drew Brees Year Team Pos G GS YAC Rank Short Mid Deep Bomb 2013 NO QB 16 16 5.5 20 52% 30% 10% 8% Edit: Just so everyone is clear, cause the formatting is screwed up, "Deep" and "Bomb" are two different percentages, they're not one percentage for "Deep Bomb."
Are people seriously arguing that on the pass to Wallace that the ball should have been INSIDE of Wallace? There were like, two defenders on the inside...
Y'all are beating a dead horse..it seems to me that most of Tanny's deep ball to everyone else is on the left side..is it possible that Tanny throws better to the left on the deep passes than he does to the right? Res can you find stats on that by chance? I am just curious.
That ball doesn't look catchable. They keep trying that pass skirting the sideline but it's too difficult. The play needs to be designed to be thrown to the inside shoulder if it's available, if not it's a waste of a down to continue to throw it into that tiny box that leaves no margin for error on both players and doesn't give Wallace a chance. I can see their frustration and it shouldn't be that difficult.
Not at all. I want RT to succeed in the worst way. I see flaws in his game; you and others disagree. It's fine, but you guys call those of us that arent in love with Rt names...As far "blasting Tannehill"....yeah, he's the QB of my team. It comes with the territory. What's the cliche..."suck it up, buttercup"...I just don't get the hyper sensitivity of some of you. None of our opinions matter one bit. Why does mine make me a fool vs yours?
I will admit I was bashing tannehill during the first half and I was seeing our season going down the ****ter but he played well in the second half to give us the biggest win of the season. As for the longball I don't care about stats because I trust my eyes and he doesn't throw a good longball. Can we win like this and make the playoffs without stretching the field? We will find out in the next 6 weeks.
There definitely is some hyper sensitivity going on in here. Tannehill is a good QB, I'll take him over any young QB not named Luck. That includes Wilson. Within a year or two I think he passes guys like Stafford and Ryan. But... That doesn't mean he's beyond critique, no player is. Manning has a weak *** arm, Brady will rarely take a hit to make a play, they're still all time greats playing as well as they ever have. RT has issues with accuracy on deep passes, I don't need a stat sheet to see it cause the film don't lie. He's missed Wallace for TDs each of last 3 weeks, at least 4 times total and only one of the throws was even somewhat difficult. He also has issues transitioning from reading the field to extending the play when no one is open or reacting to quick preasure and he takes unecessary sacks as a result. I fail to see whats controversial or offensive about these things.
It's controversial because many believe Wallace is not a good deep target, and is much harder to hit deep than other receivers (p.s., the stats back this up).
Wallace is too inconsistent with his speed, and he doesnt pick up the ball fast enough! SENT FROM MY LG G FLEX ON THE NOW NETWORK FROM SPRINT!✌
Again, you need to understand there's a huuuuuuuuuuge difference between people that point out Tannehill's flaws and haters like yourself that have made it their forum mission to blast him at every turn. People who point out his flaws don't get the level of pushback you do. You are THAT guy. The fact you get grief for being THAT guy, is not our fault, its your's.
Say what you will but TH and Wallace just don't complement each other well. They are both inconsistent. Wallace in his route running and desire. I like his desire more this year but he doesn't seem to run a consistent route location or speed. Not helpful to any QB let alone one so young. TH has been inconsistent with and may never become a great down field passer. He has proven so far that he is not when under constant pressure but you must admit he has been running for his life for three years on 3 step drops let alone 5-7 step. Hard to tell when the team around him has been such a mess.
**** people we won the game. And we looked good doing it. Was it an all world performance? No, and you may get one of those a season if you're lucky most times. So sit back and relax and enjoy the ride. I remember being 1-15 and this is a whole **** load better. We are a good team, we are not a team that may win games - we are winning games, and have looked bad in only two of our losses. We really are two plays away from being 8-2 or if you wish to spilt the difference 7-3. That's a playoff team ladies and gentlemen. This year's team is playing better than we have previously. We are relevant again and I doubt people are licking their chops to come play against us. We are not that team anymore.
Good point. I should have added that this year feels different and am gaining hope. I got lost in the dumping all blame on Thill and not seeing the forest through the trees.
It's interesting how none of the Tanehill-Has-A-Deep-Ball-Problem have yet to address the stats I keep posting from Football Outsiders.
I need to dig up an old report I did regarding Tannehill. Maybe it still exists. Hmmm. Have look into that. He is not a great deep thrower at this point in time. Is he horrible? No, I don't think he is. Has it improved since his rookie year? Yes it has, he is much closer and most balls are a yard or two which is not unheard of. We need a big rangy receiver to go up and get some plays for us as well.
Why does it have to be either/or? Why can't people enjoy the wins, yet still debate topics that may not be positive? When Miami wasn't looking good earlier this year, did people not enjoy Jelani Jenkins' play? Did everyone not enjoy Brent Grimes INT in a loss?
Just felt good to be in a close game against a high-scoring team. I remember last year a lot of talk that we can't win if we can't consistently score 24 PPG. Surprise-surprise 24.9 PPG currently. Keep it up. http://www.nfl.com/teams/statistics?team=MIA
We know he has the arm strength to throw deep. How far was that missed ball to Wallace this week? It looked like a country mile.
I can't believe there is another thread like this. There is not a lot going on in this forum today so against my better judgement I clicked on this bull****. The people that come up with threads like this would find something wrong with Jesus or Mother Teresa.
Jesus would turn folks off in my store because of that beard and Mother Teresa...well you can't understand what she's saying.... Seriously, Ricky...some of us (I'm still on the fence here) have been left hanging by Philbin's teams too many times.... I'm not off the bandwagon, but leery about whether he can sustain the intensity in the team...too many times they've come out flat...
But you've gotta know that every year is different. I know fans tend to think their team is better every year and are often let down, but we made some huge changes. Hickey and Lazor have done a phenomenal job compared to their predecessors, so have our position coaches. The defense has vastly improved and they have consistency, imagine if we give our offense that same consistency if we have the same offense and same OC. The sky is the limit. I know almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades, but I like Tannehill's mindset when he said "We are 2 plays away from being 8-2 and there is no reason we can't think of ourselves that way."
Yeah, again, everything you say is true, but I still can't get past those last two games last year and Buffalo earlier in the year...the team came out flat and didn't perform... I'll preface everything I've said with the thought that I'd be giddy as heck about this team if the D makes two plays (GB and Lions) this season, so from that perspective...you're absolutely right. I guess I have to be proven wrong before I change my overall opinion....but I do like what they've done this year so far, no doubt....
It could be a scheme thing. The deep safety is more likely to get to Wallace on a post since there is not another receiver on the squad who would demand his respect to move him elsewhere. I think the deep sideline is the most likely to be "open" within the scheme. It almost has to be a perfect throw, which is low percentage, so, it is what it is right now. Maybe a route that takes Wallace all the way to the other side of the field would work?
Because people cant do that. That has been proven time and again. I never said it couldn't happen, just simply responding to what has already been said, which is what you say should be a debate, but really isn't. It's a **** show for the most part.
I'm optimistic with his improvement. That being said, the numbers you stated are middle of the pack. Also. LMAO at people blaming Wallace for the deep ball problems. Really? lol I read one post that said it is bad to be good at the deep ball because it puts the D back on the field. lol Big Ben didn't have a problem with Wallace. I do agree that the biggest problem is red zone. 2 of 6 is not good. I can't blame it on coaching. The plays are there. Also, when we see a bonehead play and assume it is Lazor, Tanne called that run that went nowhere. He makes those decisions.
Big Ben had one awesome year with Wallace. Tannehill may be "middle of the pack," but he's doing it in his third year, with a new offense. He was an extremely raw prospect, which everyone seems to forget. It's being reported that Tannehill isn't allowed to audible. Where do you get your information that says otherwise?
I agree with you. His deep ball accuracy has been an issue since he started in college. He just can't get air under it. It is not receiver friendly. It is what it is though and I think we can live with it. Red zone efficiency is far more troubling. I'm looking forward to seeing if he can progress in that area over the next few games. We have a middle of the road QB on our hands. That is more than I thought we would have at this point in the season. He also looked like he turned the corner until we layed an egg for the last two games of 13. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point but far from calling him our saviour. I still get that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach when the ball is in his hands with 4 minutes to go up by 3. He is not allowed to audible. He does determine the play grouping according to what he sees. He is in control of run or pass.
So right you are... and in the FIRST SIX games we have won this year, have been by AT LEAST 13 POINTS... The last team that started the year with their first 6 games won by at least that margin was the 2007 Patriots...
Lol. I don't care about the push back. There is a huuuuuge difference between acknowledging that he's not elite and hating him. If you cant admit the truth, and attack others who do, that not our fault, it's yours.
Fine, try this...you explain what you think is the difference between someone merely pointing out a player's flaws and someone who is a hater. And yes you do care about the pushback, otherwise you wouldn't have been crying about it.
I admit that RT has some deep pass issue. But that doesn't 100% his falut. Gotta consider schemes, OL and WR etc..But most of all, winning is all matter to me. I don't care how many 60yd pass they make or how many highlight play they do. I just want them to win the game. And it's all about defense. Of course u might wanna say "this era is all about the pass". But me, i still believe in Defense. We will win with great defense. That's what 01Ravens and 02Bucs did not to mention Seahawks now. And yeah we had great D once back in a days. When we had JT, Thomas, Madison and surtain in their prime but as yall know, Ricky ran away like a *****, and QB was the problem. RT is far superior than those guys...(Culpepper, AJ Feely, Pennington, Trent Green, Chad Henne and Jay Fidler so on...) We need to focus on D now -Wake and Grimes are getting older- if RT can keep play in this level. Again, deep pass ain't essentail **** at all.
If you don't like the thread why do you continue to reply to it.The OP expressed his concerns and thats his opinion not yours so let it go.
****Disregard this post. Resnor is dead to me. Hahahahaha****** Before another single person complains about Tannehill's deep ball, I challenge them to address this post: If your argument is so strong, it should be easy to refute this with actual facts and/or logic.
