Okay so I just back from seeing this and damn that was good. Ledger deserves to win an Oscar for that sinister performance.

Though I'm not understanding fully where their going to go with the next film.

Who would be the villain? Because didn't the producers decide not to get a new actor to play the Joker? With Two face dead what would be the storyline? Also please don't merge this thread, this is totally different.

They can come in with totally new villian, The Penquin for instance. I think that gives them the ability to open up the script more.

But are they really serious about not replacing the Joker with a new actor? Is Batman going to go all spiderman on us with their 1 and done villains. I was pretty pissed when they killed off 2 face.

No. He was the reporter. Also captured on the bus and he was the one on the video Joker sent. Oh yeah, he's also the one who Batman unmasked to find out the hostages were in the clown masks.

It's amazing. Especially the panoramic city shots. Except maybe try to find a seat that's not in the first row. Here, seats were assigned and I got first.

I think a possible next villain would be Catwoman. With Rachel dead they could explore the love interest between Batman and her.

I definitely don't know where they go next, it seems that killing off Two-Face, I really hate when they do that in these movies btw, was a mistake, especially now that Heath Ledger is dead.

It seems that the idea of "The Dark Knight" as an "enemy" of the police and public just begged for the inclusion of Two-Face in the third installment. I'm sure they had a plan that included The Joker, but I don't want to see someone else ****-up The Joker now that Heath Ledger did it so perfectly. And if I was an actor I'd never do it, you can't step into those shoes now.

Where Nolan's Batman is headed thematically I can't think of any significant villain who fits.

She's hot enough, but isn't quite the quality of actor that Nolan has brought in so far.

Natalie Portman or Scarlett Johannson would be better actors, but I don't think any of them are tough enough. At least not for this version of Batman.

I'm still not convinced he's dead. He may have been unconcious. Remember Batman has only one rule.

I'm kinda hoping they don't make a 3rd film. I can't possibly imagine Nolan topping this movie.

They COULD cheat it. But I would think they would have revealed faking his death within this chapter no? I thought that when they were talking about concealing who Dent became that he was still alive. But once they had the funeral I thought different.

    Nope

They're both kind of short for the role. Portman would be too small, Johannson would be too curvy? Heck, either would be a vast improvement over Gyllenhaal.

    I second that.

I don't think any of them are right for it. But right now I can't think of any actresses who are talented enough, tough enough, and sexy enough for the catwoman that this version of Batman needs.

Beckinsale, Portman, Johannson, are all wrong for it IMHO.

They aren't much shorter than the catwomen in the past, and you can always cheat that anyway.

Still, I don't think Portman or Johannson's frame would exactly work for Catwoman. Beckinsale has the body though. I think she's underrated as an actress. She was nominated for a SAG award for her role in Aviator as well as a few other noms. If she's good enough for Martin Scorsese, she's good enough for me. :wink2:

I really can't see a Batman film topping this. I'm interested in seeing how the story will go after seeing the ending.

My guess is Gotham is in shambles and the streets are ruled by the mob, and Alfred makes a pitch to Bruce saying Gotham needs you "Blah blah blah". Goes back to Gotham finally knowing that he is Gothams white knight. Villains that will be in it 2 Face and Cat Woman, maybe Bane or Black Mask?

My odds are on Catwoman. And don't forget Scarecrow's still alive. I would think a rational direction to go is the redemption of Batman in the public's eyes. Bane and Black Mask didn't really have prominent roles in Long Halloween, so I dunno if Nolan would go there. And there's still a stigma of using Bane considering what happened in Batman and Robin...

would uma thurman make a good catwomen? she has the fighting backround from 'kill bill', good actress and the body.....she gets my irrelevent vote...

side note--this movie was phenomenal!!! joker is the greatest villian I have ever seen in movies.....tops vader, hannibal lector etc.....ledger was absolute perfect.....i am 21 and I left the theatre tonight like a child repeating lines wanting to be an actor......he was incredibly inspiring!!!!

side note part 2-- anyone else really annoyed by the way bale speaks in a costume??..over doing it imo......just the only thing that bothered me.....

I would like them to use lesser known villians this time around, like they did in "Begins" using Scarecrow and Raul Al Ghoul. Since they used Joker and Two-Face, how about Zsasz and Madd Hatter? Of course, those guys arent going to bring in the bucks, so I would probably put my money on Penguin and Riddler.

Don't think Nolan is the type of guy to choose money > originality/better story. Also, after The Dark Knight, people will be clammoring(sp?) to see the next one.

its not Nolan, its the execs who decide it. Im sure Nolan now has plenty of capital to work with now that TDK is a huge success already, but I also think theyre going to be pressure to use more known villians in the next installment, assuming of course the script/story isnt completed yet.

If there's no Nolan there's no Bale. And this Batman is dead. Nolan will have final say if he's directing it. Don't think the execs have a say so in the script. Pretty sure they know to trust Nolan; he makes hits.
