Ok. WTF were we thinking inside 2 minutes of the first half, we have 1 timeout and 1:11 left and we spike the ball on first and goal????? we waste a down when we clearly have plenty of time. If anything we want to take as much time off as we can. This cost us a score, I don't know who is in charge of this, Lemon or Cameron but it was ridiculous.
Cameron said he was the one who called that spike play. What an idiot. We waste a down for no reason whatsoever. Boneheaded play calls like that is why Cam MUST be fired. He has done things like that all season long!!
Did anyone Tivo this game? I would really like to see if Cleo Lemon looked to the sideline. Dave Hyde said: Maybe, just maybe, Cameron was taking the blame. ISRAEL GUTIERREZ took a few liberties with this article: The decision looked even worse when Lemon waited 24 seconds to call a timeout before the failed fourth-down play. That gave time for even the referee to potentially ask, ``Why, exactly, did your coach ask you to spike the ball on first down again?'' Notice the words "potentially said" when referencing the official's comments.... This was Cameron's postgame response to the call: ''Absolutely,'' Cameron said when asked if the spike was his call. ``We were in great shape there.'' Lemon's decisions lacked any resemblence of "football awareness" yesterday. I would like some confirmation of who made this stupid call. Was it the coach or was it the player who was absolutely stupid? Either way, I do not like Cameron's response. It lacks accountability from the player either way. Does anyone have the game taped? Does it show anything?
Or maybe Cleo called the spike. With some of his bonehead decisions lately, would you honestly put it past him? Possibly Cam is taking the heat for his player, which is a reason why Cam MUST remain on the team. We'll never know who called it.
I just found this in the PBP. I think this was Cleo Lemon's response..... "You've just got to get it in," said Cleo Lemon, who spiked the ball on first down to stop the clock despite having a timeout remaining. "We came up short. You look back now and woulda, coulda. That's not going to do anything for us now."
Conventional wisdom tells you that the QB controls the game in the two minute window. My comment at the moment it happened was "I very much doubt Cameron made that call."
cleo has not shown any game "awareness" at all. Bad clock management, allowing himself to be run out of bounds for a loss taking us OUT of FG range... this is not a rookie.. no excuses in my book.
I yelled at the TV when I saw them going for the formation . . . . I don't know who called it, but it was a HORRIBLE decision. I have a hard time believing Cleo called that on his own without anyone saying "we got plenty of time"
I was all for giving Cam another year but I really have my doubts...I just don't want us to make the same mistake we made by keeping Wanny for way too long....Tuna will take care of this. Ozzy rules!!
I'm pretty Cam is just taking the blame. Cleo also did that dumb move going out at the 1' line instead of diving into the EZ.
Give me a break. This was the biggest mismatch in the history of the NFL. We won the turnover battle 4-0 and still got stomped. The Pats were just toying with us in the second half. They considered it practice, and a chance at getting some free shots downfield. Our clock managment had nothing to do with the outcome of that game.
a good HC would have his team ready for these situations doesn't really matter who decided to spike, good preparation wasn't evident the least we could have hoped for wuld be that the HC would show improvement in his weak areas, but here it is week 16 and we have blown 2 TO's and then we blow a down awful
It is disturbing that the team is not prepared to get into the red zone, and what to call in that situation. That’s the coach, preparedness, play calling and clock management. I’m sick of seeing our game plan dumbed down every week since Jimmy Johnson gave up on us a few games before he baled. I remember that eighteen play drive in the first preseason game and I thought FINALLY!!! But it was not to be…
yep so bring in another coach, and another new system, and a whole bunch of other new coaches the new coach brings, and bring in some players the coach is familiar with and we would be taking one step forward, two steps back. real smart
Clock mgmt. would not have won us the game. The point is Lemon is still not getting it and those were 2 tewrrible decisions BTW New England did not let up. Brady and Moss want those records and they would have loved to get it at home. Going for it on 4th and 7 is not toying with us
we should keep somthing that is broken because of what has happened in the past? now THAT is dumb past events and decisions shouldn't impact what is done now it would be great to meet with Parcells and pitch it to him the sooner we get the right coaching staff in here the sooner the "good continuity" can begin. I remember the WannSpeil continuity, very nice!!!
