Prior to moving to Hawaii, I played golf in South Florida for nearly 50 years. I was fortunate to be able to travel frequently and I've played several round of golf in Colorado, as well as at other golf courses at altitudes over 5000 feet.

What I observed when I played in Colorado was that I would have to hit one club less to attain the same yardage I do at sea level. Normally I hit my seven iron 155 yards with a good swing, but it would travel around 165 yards when I played courses a mile high or slightly higher.

If your normal drive at sea level is around 245 yards, (which mine is), you can expect to consistently get 15-25 yards more on your drives. Of course several of the courses I played were 300-400 yards longer than the courses I played in South Florida. So the extra distance you get is usually negated by the longer golf course.

Denver has tons of injuries this game. Julius Thomas with an ankle, Emmanuel Sanders with a concussion, Monte Ball with a groin. Hopefully a few of these linger for next week.

Denver is also playing a guard a RT. I think Wake is going to have a field day with Vasquez.

I live outside of Denver in Erie. It's 18 degrees and my kids are outside playing like it's 70 degrees. It dumped snow this week but it's going to be gone by Wednesday. Next Sunday is supposed to be very mild and clear.

Sanders and Thomas being out, if that is indeed the case, would be huge. What the Rams did today. We know they can get pressure from just four guys, like we can, but they are very physical on the outside. We don't have the corners to play like that. I can feel the refs screwing us though... road games in Denver and New England. Not only do we have to beat good teams on the road, we have to beat the refs too.

What's up buddy? I enjoyed meeting you in Denver. I'm not a truck driver anymore so I have no idea if I will ever be in Denver again. Are you going to see us beat the Broncos at mile high stadium?

The 2001 win was the game where Kenoy Kennedy knocked out Chris Chambers, and the Jaybird led a furious comeback in the final minute to get Mare into range to make a long game winning FG?

I'm not sure we can adjust to the high altitude in just 3-4 days. Some teams think it works better to arrive as close to game time as possible. From what I recall reading anyway.

You may be right MrClean I am not sure..I have never lived there..we did visit Mt, UT, Wyoming, Idaho for 17 days on vacation and I had trouble with altitude whole time with Asthma and COPD. .but had a blast..God's Country

I'm unsure if Denver getting dominated defensively by the Rams is good or bad for us. That's 2 of 3 weeks where The Forehead gets embarrassed. (The other week was against the Raiders) The Chargers played them close too.

You'd have to think that amongst the Bronks recent opponents (Chargers, Pats, Raiders, Rams, Dolphins) the Dolphins is by a fair margin the best Defence they'll see.

I think Phin Fans have a right to be optimistic about this game. I'm pretty sure the pundits will universally have the Dolphins getting destroyed though.

There are a couple theories out there with respect to acclimating to the altitude.

1 side argues it is better to get here as close to performance time. The argument is that your body will use its natural reserves of everything to overcome the ill effects of altitude for about 24 hours. The only thing they say to watch is your level of hydration because you lose water so fast up here

The other side argues that altitude is something that affects the body pretty much instantly and that it takes the body about 3days to acclimate, so arriving early is the best thing you can do for your chances.

Watching a lot of Pac-12 Basketball up here I can tell you I have seen teams employ both strategies to try and beat the altitude and I can't say I have seen a noticeable difference either way. Most teams will come up and play hard and fast for about a half, then the second half they struggle. The elite teams come up and compete regardless so conditioning is a huge factor. When you are talking about this level of sports, the biggest effect of altitude on an athletes body will be the mental aspect of it

Actually, the Rams D has been playing great of late. They actually set a record for so few sacks the first 6-7 games but now they have 19 in just a few and shut down Arizona for most of that game (two TDs were given up by the offense).

I am disappointed the Broncos lost like that. I think they will be extra hungry this week. And, know they need this game badly.

My typical ski experience back east consists "Groomed packed powder" (man made slush over bone breaking ice ) in the morning and "cream cheese" (Knee destroying heavy wet melt AKA mashed potatoes) in the afternoons! It's awesome!!! Oh yeah, and if you decide to night ski then you are treated to "sheer ice". One of these day's i'll make it out west. Have skied in Austtria but was too young to truly enjoy it.

That game was actually in 2002, as Miami had Ricky Williams. But yes, that's the game where Mare hit a 50+ yard FG to win it. Best regular season game I can remember.

The greatest finish to a Miami Dolphin game, maybe ever! It was on primetime too..

As an NFL game in general, this is just one of those instant classics that tends to be overlooked. There was definitely some luck involved in the final Miami drive. Miami and Denver were two of the top teams in the AFC at the time too, and the win propelled Miami into the conversation as a top NFL team. But then, afterwards, ughhhh.....

I have tickets, but I'm not sure if I'm going yet, not too many nice golf days ahead, so I'll decide in the next couple days. I have two cousins trying to talk me into taking them, so we'll see:)

Yes, it was the same game. Three FG's over 50+ in that game, I was watching the north stands as Mare hit it and when nobody cheered, I knew the Dolphins had won. I turned back and Mare and the rest of the team just went nuts.
I stand corrected, it was 2002, wasnt sure what year it was, 2001 or 2002. That game game me a lot of respect for Broncos fans, its a story for another time, but lets just say that three Broncos fans jumped a guy for talking smack to a 10 year old Dolphin fan.

Caught some of Philbin's presser on the way home from work. I believe he said Miami is arriving in Denver on Saturday, as opposed to earlier in the week.
