Looks like we brought back Don Jones, should make an immediate contribution (for better or worse) in some form.
OK, cool. He's solid on ST. I would hope that means that either Finnegan or Taylor is healthy enough to play corner too.
This might say the most about our return coverage units, which are fourth-worst in both punt and kickoff returns. He was super on Special Teams.
I think what this says, if anything outside of they need someone else back there simply from a body standpoint is that it is a way for the team to replace Michael Thomas who was lost for the season a couple of weeks ago. Thomas contributed a great deal in nickel packages etc. Jones knows the system though he may need a couple of days to get back into mental shape so to speak. Thats my two cents anyway.
Its a very good point. Jones value is primarily on ST, and thats where Thomas focused too. With two games upcoming against contenders, we can't afford to give up any field position, or for that matter, a cheap return TD against the Jets or Vikes, who we should shut down on defense.
That Michael Thomas injury was definitely a blow. Some acted like it was no big deal, but it's effects are being seen now.
Some pats fans aren't happy about Jones being released. Looks like BB got cute with releasing him on TG day and trying to slide him to the PS. He was testy when asked about it. Good move for us bringing him back. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-...136/bill-belichick-asked-about-don-jones-move Finnegan is most likely not playing Monday night. Means RJ Stanford and Walt Aikens are up and that we see more of Wilson... http://espn.go.com/blog/miami-dolph...ot-present-at-practice-status-iffy-for-monday
Oh, don't worry. They'll be doing that too. It would be nice to do a Bellicheck to him. But how he much knows is up for debate.
Could be some media spin there with finnegan though. If anything I'd want the jets thinking they'll see Stanford and aikens and then surprise them. The thing I don't get is why did rose go in against the broncos and not Stanford/aikens?
Seems like Jones shows a lot of passion on gameday. Not to the level of Michael Thomas but his presence should help too IMO.
I watched the whole game and that was my first thought also. Never heard the dudes name before. Please don't hurt me.
Me too. I dont think you need you fan card pulled because you dont know a fringe backup. You do, however need to be able to name the punter and long snapper!
Has nothing to do with being a fringe player. He was our #2 corner when Jamar went down. He was extensively talked about by the announcers throughout the 4th quarter. Hence why people wonder if you guys even paid attention to the game.
Standford wasn't on the team. We didn't sign him until Tuesday of this week. Coyles plans for Aikens is at Safety, but we did put him in for some series as Rose was lost out there.
Aikens likely will see some time at CB, but Coyles has transitioning him to Safety since the summer camps. http://espn.go.com/blog/miami-dolphins/post/_/id/8994/walt-aikens-enjoying-transition-to-safety He had an INT in limited play against the Raiders this season.
dimitri patterson must really be in Philbins doghouse considering he played very well when healthy here last year, and he's available.
i didn't know he flat out quit. however, even if so we don't know the story, look at what belicek did with blount, dude was called out by his teammates, but was welcomed back by a coach that may understand how to communicate with the players who are considered malcontents.
