Nevermind it wasn't. For some reason I thought he had a #87 on somehow for that play but it was just the way his jersey was crumpled up.
There's been a few, Brandon Manumaleuna was over 300lbs for a lot of his career. He was mostly a blocking H-Back though.
I suspect they will try him because of size on jump balls in the end zone, when matchup is favorable. That's as far as that experiment will go.
I thought Dion Sims had a decent game against Denver, but when I looked it was "Meh," and definitely "Meh" for the year. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/15974/dion-sims
Dion Sims should be regarded like you would a fullback. It's possible you could find a better blocker, or someone who could fill the role and contribute more as a receiver but it isn't necessarily that easy. He pulls his own weight.
Green was amazing for the Steelers. Back then, living in Steelers country, I only saw a handful of Fins games but saw almost every Pittsburgh game. He dominated the seasons before we signed him, and with far inferior QB play than Marino offered. Then craters immediately after coming to Miami. Of course.
Every fan of every team says that. Much like how every fan of every team thinks the refs are out to get them.

I just don't know why its such a secret that they messed up with this player.. we don't have one reporter that has the sense to ask the right question. reporter..wouldn't it of made more sense to keep dion jordan lean and ripped at his natural weight coming off of last year if you are going to use him like a utility knife?
I'm with DJ. I think he needs to drop 20-30 and play OLB. He doesn't have great moves to be used as a DE. He's shown that he can cover big receivers/TE's and can attack from the OLB spot. I'm not sure why they're trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
I think they had the idea they could turn Jordan into a Julius Peppers, Mario Williams type player with added weight. They wanted a guy who can play a 6-technique type position that is fine being sandwiched between a Tackle and Tight End opposite Wake. Jared Odrick couldn't edge rush particularly well, and Olivier Vernon got his *** kicked in such tight quarters with blockers. I think that's why you see so much of Derrick Shelby every week. I think it's sometimes a bit opaque who is going to play well at an increased weight, and who won't. Sometimes you get a Calais Campbell, sometimes you get Phillip Merling. I think switching Jordan was a bit curious given his biggest selling point in my mind was being able to cover much better than your average edge rusher, but it wasn't a particularly random thing to do. Either way I'd tend to hope the team recognizes that Jordan isn't a fit for the weight or technique, and let him cut weight and play him at wider techniques.
Exactly. The word used then was "'tweener," as in somebody too large to play linebacker but too small to play defensive end.
That is where we might get some value out of Jordan, at OLB. Along with some Red Zone TE looks. After so many years of watching TEs destroy the Phin defense, I'd be happy to see us able to matchup with a defender just as big (or bigger) and fast. This team needs to be built to defeat the Pats, as we go nowhere until we can compete for and win the AFCEast.
Well I hope they do something and do it fast before he turns into a bust. He is one suspension away from being out a year. He needs a nutritionist and a diet plan to get him back to his more natural weight while pumping iron to get stronger and put him as an stand up OLB where he was intended to play.point blank.period.
I don't think that's really a thing. It's a matter of positioning and responsibilities. A 3-4 OLB doesn't have to be much more than a stand-up defensive end, and can just be a big body who is put in a position to be isolated against the TE in a blocking scheme. Matt Roth was like 285lbs. when he was converted to OLB when Sparano took over. Then you've got guys who are incredibly undersized who play by virtue of lining up so far wide of tackle that they're not in traffic, with 230-something pound guys like Robert Mathis working quite well. They should be doing what Jordan does naturally well at this point. No more 5/6-technique stuff, put him as wide as he needs to be.
I don't know why any player making that kind of money doesn't take advantage of experts like this. I believe they have access to the team chef(s) during most of the week, but if not hire someone to prepare meals for you or to advise you. I remember Roger Craig had someone for diet, got massages and saw a chiropractor. He always felt like he was a good day ahead of his teammates in terms of recovery each week and it showed on the field. Seasons w/ 1k rushing and receiving are not accidents.
You are right 77FinFan Craig was a great running back and what the Team does not provide...which they probably supply most the he can afford to pay for it.Problem is that if he does not have the " want to " I am afraid nothing will help. I hope he has it in him.
Another blocked punt for Dion Jordan! That play was huge. The kid has talent. So frustrating that he can't be that disruptive on Defense!
