Pats should fire Belichick cuase he is just not aggressive anough. He went for a field goal, doesn't know how to win. Pats should hire Harbaugh!

Don Shula came to the Miami Dolphins for a first round draft pick. He left the Colts after having similar success which Harbaugh has had with the 49ers. Shula left the Colts because he no longer got along with the Colts owner and he didn't want to work with the owner any longer.

That is basically the same situation Harbaugh now finds himself in with the 49ers. I guess if it was Don Shula wanting to leave the Colts in this day and age, the same people who don't want Harbaugh in Miami would berate Shula for the same reasons they seem to be negative toward Harbaugh.

Shula was a tough coach to play for. Not all the players on the Dolphins liked playing for him during his time with the Dolphins. He was a demanding coach, but he was also a winning coach.

Back in the Shula days, winning was the only thing that mattered. Of course today it appears that winning is secondary to constantly building for the future. Even if there is no way of knowing what the future holds for this organization.

My view is that Harbaugh is a superior head coach when compared to Philbin. If Ross has a chance to get Harbaugh after this season, he should do whatever he can to upgrade the head coaching position.

Harbaugh may not be the next Don Shula, but I have no doubt he is a lot closer to being at the Shula level as an NFL head coach than Philbin ever will be.

Except for the fact he's coached an inferior Niners team to 7-5 despite his defense being riddled with injury and w/o its best pass rusher most of the year. Harbaugh is about to have his 4th straight 10 win season and averaged 12 regular season wins over his first 3 years. Meanwhile, Philbum is still trying to break .500. Harbaugh has a better record in the postseason [5-3] against nothing but playoff teams than Philbin does in the regular season against a mixture of everyone in the NFL [21-22].

It's hilarious how you make all these lofty, superlative claims about Philbin who has yet to prove anything, but you trash the heck out of the coach with an impressive track record for winning.

But in that case one team (Cleveland) was the only team (that was reported) that was inquiring about Harbaugh. At the end of this year you're going to have several teams bidding for him that could drive the price up. Maybe not a bunch of 1sts but higher than 3rd wouldn't you think?

I have come to the conclusion that Dez really doesn't believe anything he writes on this forum. It appears he just likes to write absurd comments in an attempt to rile up those of us who actually like discussing Dolphin issues.

I give him him credit for these absurd comments because he certainly has been able to get the many responses he seems to desire.

I think in reality Dez is probably a fan of another team in the AFC Eastern division. The reason he wants Philbin to remain the Dolphins Head coach is because he loves the fact the Dolphins have merely been a mediocre team the past two plus years with Philbin as the teams Head coach. His biggest fear is that the Dolphins might actually hire Harbaugh and become a legitimate Super Bowl contender in the next few years.

This would be the worst thing that could happen to Dez. Because it is obvious by his ridiculous comments that he would love nothing more than for the Dolphins to remain mediocre for years to come.

He also did all of what you said in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. That guy has got to be trolling because i dont think any sane person thinks philbin is better than Harbaugh, hes just saying stupid things to get reactions. He has to be.

Well if he wants to coach again that would make sense as to why he hasn't had any real interest in any other teams after retiring.

Not necessarily. Unlike most trades Jim will decide where he wants to be, then they'll discuss compensation.

Can we at least wait until the season is over before determining the Dolphins are going to be mediocre the rest of this year? What if they make a run during the playoffs?

If the reports were that Miami was considered a frontrunner to trade for Harbaugh while we are in all probability the 6th seed after tomorrow, what type of hell would Ross get for causing a distraction mid season? Didn't we learn from the past?

    this..

if we win 4 out of 5 he's doing something right and will have deserved another year, he's pissed me off a couple times this year, even lost a game imo, but the season is long, and you have to judge the totality.

I wouldn't blame Ross for those reports leaking out, anyone with half a brain can connect the dots, we all know Ross is a huge Harbaugh fan, he tried to get him once before, he'll likely be interested in him again.

    Horse****.

You and all the other's blasted Ross for going after Harbaugh with sparano still coaching during a ****ty season. Now you're gonna tell us, if Ross did it again but this time it was during a potential playoff season, that YOU....of all people....wouldn't have so much sand in your vag, it would be renamed Vagina Beach?

Sell that bs somewhere else. I call shenanigans.

I want no part of Harbaugh. The guy is more conservative then fistpump Tony and "Run run pass" Wanny combined. He has the most talented roster in the league and 0 SB's to show for it. And Kaepernick is regressing on his watch after he chased the better QB, Alex Smith, out of town after benching him. No. Just no. His brother does more with less in Baltimore and is a far superior coach to him.

I'm convinced Dez is just looking to wind up people when he heaps tons of praise on Philbin. I think we are better off to not bother responding to anything he says regarding Philbin.

Why would he go to Oakland? That is a horrible team from a talent stand point. They are weak at every position.... Why would anyone put themselves is a sure lose situation?

I see a fairly good amount of young talent, especially on offense. I think they have been a poorly coached team, sort of like the Dolphins before Shula, and the 49ers before Harbaugh. IMO, if Harbaugh went to the Raiders, with one solid offseason, he could turn them into playoff contenders.

I have stated numerous times that I would have no problem with Philbin remaining the teams HC if the Dolphins win at least 10 games this year, whether they make the playoffs or not.

At this time though, Philbin's record as an NFL head coach has been very mediocre at best. I'm certainly willing to see how the season plays out, but that doesn't change the fact that I just think Harbaugh is a better NFL coach than Philbin.

All we learned from the past in regards to Harbaugh was that at the time, Harbaugh preferred the 49ers job over the Dolphins job. Right now we have no way of knowing if he has any interest in the Dolphins job, but as the owner, Ross should always be looking to upgrade every individual on his staff if possible.

I honestly don't believe Harbaugh is any better a coach than Rex. Hes just had a lot more talent at key positions. If the Jets want to sell their soul for him, go for it.

This is my biggest fear as a dolphins fan . we better hope he goes to another division because if we keep Philbin and the jets get Jim Harbaugh. Miami will have the worst Coach in the division again . its tough enough that the Bills and Patriots have the better coaches and if the Jets get Harbaugh we will be stuck n the celler of the afc east for awhile and the popularity of the jets will ascend to the same height as the Patriots and that will kill this franchise .

part of why Miami 's problem is that we are a dying franchise and our fan base is dwindling and for the Bills patriots and Jets to have better coaches wont help us at all.

They would have a top pick to draft Winston or to draft Mariota though Mariota will take a few more years since he's a major question mark whether he can play in the NFL or not.
