I didn't get see the Ravens gave, but heard it in the radio (2nd half only). I thought cool we are up and then all down hill. Is this team lack talent, on both sides of the ball? Now don't take me wrong I know we have good players, but it seems we are getting man handled on both sides of the ball. Does our fat O-line work out at all? We have a weight room, besides Wake does anyone else use it? Even our D-line cant shed of blocks, argg can't they just toss the guy in front of him to the side using there own momentum? I know our Coaches have a lot of the blame too, but when the opposing team makes you there b%@t^3s it has to fall on the players. You can blame bad coaching schemes, but we are getting seriously man handled...
In a must-win situation such as yesterday, the team with the players who step up and make big plays, set the tone for their team, and inspire their teammates, is going to win. Who did that for Miami? I submit no one, whereas Baltimore had several such players. There's your difference.
I'm tired of hearing the "talent" argument around here. If we were simply not talented enough, then we would lose most our games to the better teams decisively and then get a fluke win here or there. This team aged well enough to beat the broncos, packers, and lions. Destroyed the chargers, beat the pats decisively, split the bills, beating them down last game etc. But they melted down under pressure, both in the games individually, and in the season overall, they had questionable time outs, questionable personnel in the games at inopportune times, and failed to make adjustments to counter the other team's. That's on coaching.
Teams in the NFL usually don't blow many people out unless it is a huge mismatch. Blowouts are kind of rare in the NFL and most teams at the very least "stay close" to the great teams a lot of times. Close losses don't mean the issue is coaching because generally speaking most losses in the NFL are close and the best teams find way to win those games. Yes, we are talent deficient all over the board. Our offensive line has 3 first round picks and we still suck just because one of the got injured. Clay is a nice TE but he is not really a red zone threat we need out of that position. He is more of a gimmicky FB/TE type who can create mismatches. We have a collection of talented WR's but they all do very similar things. We have a bunch of tiny, underneath receivers and we need more guys like Vincent Jackson or Jeffrey or Mike Evans who can go up and get a ball that isn't thrown perfectly deep. Our LB's are absolutely awful. Our secondary is good but no depth means its not that good. Our pass rush seems to be easily negated against good teams. Our coaching is awful, i agree, but this team is not very talented at many positions.
I saw the players lose the game, Maybe some Lazor sprinkled in for not adjusting for the hapless oline. The team came out swinging. If they hadn't that would be blamed on the coaches. Then players starting missing plays and making mental mistakes. Drops, Whiffs on Oline, ineffective pass rush (even on blitzes). Throw in some borderline obscene ref's calls against the Phins and you have the result.
B.s. we dropped a pass or two, but we stopped running, had horrible protection and failed to counter the ravens in game adjustments. You may think the players just starting playing badly, but what you saw was adjustments and good play selection on both sides of the ball to take away what we were doing well in the first quarter. And as I said on another thread, were we less talented than the jets or bills last year?As to the other post - we got ran all over by Denver's 3rd stringer, that's just one example. I know so many want to point to players on other teams and rave how talented they must be compared to our guys. But you are looking at the effect not the cause. Players will thrive in good systems and then make a name for themselves. Players will flounder on bad and poorly coached teams I.e. ours. The pats are not loaded with epic wonders of athletic prowess like gray and edleman, they are thriving on a good team in a good system w a good coach.
Lol....he's washed up remember.. What a silly notion early this year..I'm sure there is some good threads with some good laughs about that dude..
You can resurrect Monte Clark and coach the offensive line we have now until the cows come home, and you still won't get them to be able to block the people in front of them as a unit. Fact, not an excuse. James and Pouncey are out of position. Colledge and Satele are rent-a-journeymen of modest abilities, and they're banged up. Smith sucks and Thomas is a walking, talking travesty in a football uniform.
we have proven on more then one occasion this season we have the talent. What we lack is talent at coaching . The team is consistently under prepared with **** game plans
How so? We came out of the gate rolling. Game plan and preparation are not at issue. The in-game play calling on O is an issue. Can't have 30 passes and 7 runs, especially with Dallas at right tackle against Suggs and Dumervil, especially when leading. This has been an issue in Buffalo, at Lions, and other losses too. It has been an issue against GB when we refused to run the ball at the end to milk the clock. Almost cost us the game at Jets. Bill Lazor has cost us games this year. That's all. Hopefully he will get better. I don't see it yet, but the toolbox is there for taking, we can run the ball so that gives me hope that he will dip into that toolbox.
A team needs to be getting healthy this time of year. This team has taken enough blows it can't make up for them and won't recover this year.
