I like Todd Bowles. Or Bill Cowher or MAYBE Gruden (Jon-type).

That's a huge window. The difference between 40 and 55 wins in the NBA or NHL. IIRC most people had us winning 7-9 wins prior to the season, now all of a sudden 9 wins, better than most thought we would do, is is a sign that Philbin failed to get the most out of his team. It's called moving the goal posts.

He HAS to have ants in his pants sitting in that studio and not standing on the sidelines. I would think that's killing him.

Yeah, I doubt he's thrilled at the prospect of coming down here to be the next scapegoat.

I think that Cowher realizes as a coach, no matter where he goes, the coach will be the scapegoat when things go sour...not just in Miami. I hardly think Philbin has been scapegoated when we have not has a winning season yet under him.

Maybe he isn't, but he certainly does not hide his affinity for this team when he talks about them. I'm merely hoping. If he doesn't, that's fine. But it would be nice!

Why would a former coach who's gone all the way leave a broadcasting job, where he can't lose, to expose himself to the risk of losing due to circumstances he can't control, and ruining his reputation?

    I would seriously consider Rexie.

If someone is serious about a position, damn the judgements. Coaches coach. Teachers teach. Soldiers soldier.

If Philbin is indeed fired, the right personality must come in to right this ship just a smidge. A coach will know what he is up against when he accepts this position. It's a person willing to accept the challenge who can change this thing. This team is not too far off. Cowher has sealed his legacy with the Steelers, but if he still has the itch and knows in his heart he has something to bring to the table, another HC position is not far-reaching.

    I say, "Why not Miami?"

**Edit - And something about Rex rubs me wrong. Not that I dislike him necessarily, I just do not know about having him immediately coming to to South Florida after this season. It just doesn't seem right, and I cannot pinpoint why.

    We've tried everything.
We fired the winningest coach in history.
We replaced him with the hottest commodity in coaching.
We stuck with a guy recommended by the prior guy who coached scared and thought it was no sin to punt.
We brought in the hottest offensive coordinator.
We brought in the hottest commodity in college coaching.
    We changed owners.
We blew it all up and brought in a football czar who cleaned house and brought in all his own people.
We fired his people and brought in another guy who coaches scared.

We have brought in umpteen quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, offensive linemen, moved up in the draft, and had high picks in the draft.

Culture problem? There's nothing left to do but move the team. We've done everything else.

I seriously considered last year that Miami may be one of the teams on a short list headed to L.A.

I have to wonder if this has ever been considered? It would be....interesting.

funny how all that happened under one roof...

Moving isn't the last resort...building the correct venue that can engage a lazy sports fan town is the solution.

The Lions beat their decades of perennial losing and didn't have to move. There must be some lessons to be learned from them.
