Haha...thank you! A voice of reason. My guess was 5%. You settled on 10%.

How did we even get into this downward spiral of a conversation, guys?

I can't believe this would divide people...0%, 5%, 10%...those are not good odds, lol. :)

I'm not being pessimistic at all if the odds are heavily against us making the Play-offs.

No one here even thinks we're going to make the Play-offs but yet because I said it matter-of-factly, people take offense.

I'm not trying to steer the conversation towards the Play-offs because the reality isn't pretty and it's just going to disappoint and anger everyone.

The issue with Miami is about what they can do in the off-season.

If I wasn't optimistic, how would you justify my stance on keeping everything intact and attacking next year with the same core group (GM, HC, OC, QB, etc.)?

I'm probably the most optimistic poster...except when it comes to the Play-offs. In that aspects, I'm going to play the odds.

    I'm all about respect.

So maybe we should just relax and take a break.

There's nothing in my posts that should anger or offend anyone.

You're not going to meet anyone who thinks their own opinion is wrong. We're all free to disagree.

All forums exist to create a space in which people can share how we've all reached our own opinions.

I may of missed it but i don't think you answered the question that could make some sense of what your saying..

ill reiterate, if we lose the next three, thats four losses in a row..would you retain the head coach in that scenario?..You said that your mind is already made up so I guess no answer means yes, you would retain this coach even if we were to lose our last 4 games...

if thats true then were on different planets.

And that my friend is impossible. Heck we learned all we needed to learn last year I thought when we only needed to win 1 of 2 to get into the playoffs and Philbin and the players failed so Ross gave him a new GM with Philbin knowing that Ross wanted Playoffs or bust, and Philbin was/is well aware of that, and he still cannot make the right moves to change the outcome of his future, and it has been and still is Groundhog Day in Miami..We all know that we still have holes too fill and have been decimated by injuries but we still had the team to be at 10-3 right now with the proper coaching. Please keep in mind, I wanted so badly for Philbin to succeed here.

With all due respect to you Greg, the Owner put the stipulation this year on Philbin getting us to the playoffs, especially after last years collapse.

I believe Ross has enough sense to not stick to that if there are mitigating circumstances. Fans are much less forgiving.

Ross said he wants to see improvement. The media and fans ran with it assuming that means playoffs or bust. Ross mentioned neither playoffs nor bust.

The team has improved due to having more talent. However Philbin has not.

That's not true. We know from the locker room that he has improved. But his improvement is not important. The important thing is that HE has improved the team. That escapes you.

Sorry but nothing escapes me. Also we don't know he's improved from the locker room. We only know he now knocks on their doors before bed time.

Yah I can absolutely see Philbin losing 3 of the last 4 or all 4 and Ross keeping him...................and that pisses me off to no end.

Piston is going to fight hard for Philbin to the end. And he has every right to do that. All of us do not have any definitive info what goes on behind closed doors but...The HC always takes the fall when things go wrong, whether or not he is at fault. I am still on the fence on what will be the right path for this team. A loss this weekend, which is likely, will push a lot of fans toward the side of canning him. So Piston, get ready for even more resistance next week. This I will say, this decision lies with Ross. Our opinions are just that...opinions. Also to Piston, I think you are trying too hard to deflect ANY responsibility from Joe. Cannot recall any criticism from you about him. Whether you like it or not, His job status is surely on the line, that can't be denied by anyone.

I just want my team to win. To find a way to win the close games instead of losing them. I am also tired of mediocracy. I want to see my team get far above .500 consistently, I want to see playoff football with another Super Bowl Victory, I really don't care who our coach is as long as we can achieve the above..some blame Lazor when all he did his 1st year was improve Tanny's footwork as well as lead our offense to it's most production since Marino. We really improved in almost all categories and this, his 1st year as an NFL OC. I cannot wait to see year 2 in his system..I also want a coach that is not so stubborn about playing rookies and benching those that are playing Horrible. If somehow Philbin stays, he needs to take a huge jump in his production from the HC position..I really like the guy I just don't know that we have'nt seen his ceiling.

If we lose at Pats but then win out our record is 9-7, 4-2 division.
If we we win out then our record is 10-6, 5-1 division.

Now, before the flaming starts, we've beaten 2 of the last 3 teams we have to face already this year and the other has a losing record.

    Just food for thought.

So lets say we did win out. That would nake us 5-1 in division.

That means we would be 5-5 out of the division. That isn't exactly good.

Ha ha yeah I'm expecting major turbulence if we lose to the Pats. Not sure the pessimism is warranted though. We've beaten NE twice in a row, including week 15 of last year, we had a 17-3 lead in the third game. We've beaten the Jets in 3 of four. Minnesota sucks. Therefore we are doomed?

I just don't think it's time for scapegoats, not Philbin, or anyone else.

Losses at Denver, Kansas City, Green Bay, at Detroit, Baltimore, late 4th quarter leads in three of them. It's not exactly bad either.

Fourth quarter leads and couldn't finish them out. How exactly is that NOT bad? Maybe one late game collapse is bearable, especially on the road, but three games ? That's not exactly encouraging. Who would you like to blame for that?

We have lost every meaningful game that had playoff implications as well under Philbin. Why do all of the fans that want Philbin to stay never admit when he has failed and generally place the blame on other coaches? He has been given a very fair shot in Miami, especially with everything that transpired last year as well as not likely making it this year. That is why I feel it is time to move on from Philbin & Coyle.

Be serious Dude, I was trying to give Philbin the benefit of the doubt by not including some of our other losses...I thought that maybe yourself, DG, and TGFD might actually read some of my post and give them some serious thought before " firing?" right back at me with a predictable statement. I put allot of thought and time into our Coach and always gave him every opportunity to change my mind...I was actually hoping, praying, and rooting for him to succeed but enough is enough.

OK. Manning and Rodgers came from behind to win games vs us, they're pretty good. Stafford is no slouch either. Why not give those guys credit for making winning plays instead of throwing darts at the HC?
