I do trust players to know what's good for them. But what's good for one specific player isn't necessarily what's good for the team.

Riddle me this, dj: Why did these players spend 2 years griping about the coaches, starting with the complaints about Mike Sherman early last season (and again late last season) and continuing this year with complaints about Lazor and Coyle, and even questioning Philbin (in the Barry Jackson article last week) if they all love Joe Philbin so much?

I think there is an element of fear in play here. Players who were favorites of the coaching staff realize that their livelihood is in jeopardy under a new staff.

I don't disagree..I like to hear opinions..i don't pretend to know all the dynamics in the locker room, I can only go off my own initial instinct I had on Philbin and see if in three years he either proved me right or wrong..I still don't pretend to really know, But I think the raven game was our measuring stick and it didn't measure up with a team that is in the lower tier of playoff teams...we've been outscored 48 to 3 in the 2nd half of the last two games, which were the most important games..our third down percentage on offense is bad, tied for 28th in the league in our last three games..

Who cares who the players favored. They all loved Sparano Wannstedt and Jimmy Johnson too, and they did nothing. The players barely know a damn thing about winning and that comes from the head coach. Not a single winner on this team, i cant even think of a player besides Moreno and maybe Wallace that knows what winning a playoff game feels like.

even forgetting 'Miko" .... who doesn't expect the defense to be 'uncommitted' regarding TH ...

the offenses inability to do much overall in the 4th QTR has caused the defense to go out and hold onto leads ... which we have seen in close games is not a good thing.

so tell me again why the defense in non-committal to the offense ... hence TH ...

all whoop-de-do stuff here ..... to be honest, both issues are problematic .... and neither gets a pass ....

I hate playing in Denver. It's a recepie for injuries. We've been a mash unit since that game and our offense hasn't been the same since. It's been a combination of poor blocking, increased penalties, and lack of success on 3rd dand short. Heck we haven't even had much success on 2nd and short. Our offense was inept against the hapless Jets and a depleted Ravens team and it centered around the passing game. After those 2 poor offensive performances the D seemed to also not play with any heart after the Jets game. Even with the D producing turnovers against the Jets, Ravens and Pats, our offense could only manage about 13 pts a game, which is even less than Sparano coached teams. Whatever offensive slump we're in, it couldn't have come at a worse time and we're still not out of it.

In fairness, some of the leads they've had to protect were kind of substantial.

He was mad, bro. In any case, Philbin hasn't done anything to warrant saving his job. If the players really liked him and wanted him to stay next year, they should've played their asses off and fought for a playoff spot. Instead, for the 2nd year in a row, they choked. I could care less whether or not the players support Philbin, the results speak for themselves.

I favor neither. If it was a coin toss and i had to pick who stays? Tannehill...until Phins draft a better QB.

    Absolutely.

We haven't simply had a few injuries... our injuries have been key ones. Left tackle. Starting RB. Starting TE. 2nd, 3rd and 4th CBs. Every week a different LB. That's a heavy list.

Now, one could make an argument that we should have overcome those injuries. Maybe. However, one could also argue we didn't have the depth to overcome it, and that was Ireland's fault. So, we might have a disagreement there. However, ignoring those injuries altogether is ridiculous. There's no doubt in my mind we would be a much better offense if Albert and Moreno were still playing, and not taking that into account when judging the progress (or regression) of the team is simply unfair.

It's very easy to predict the attitude and the comments that players make.

Players are simple and selfish entities. They favor winning and will support anyone and anything that gives them a chance to win.

There will always be dissension when a team loses for whatever reason.

Players are highly emotional and will turn on anyone when the scenario affords them the ability.

The past has shown that football players are not like normal citizens who are forced to accept responsibility for their actions and performance.

I think the defense is getting sick and tired of taking all the blame for those close losses. After the Detroit game Coyle said something like: after we got the 3 and out I thought we did have the game won...

Those are team losses so I don't want to get into that debate but a lot of people are more than willing to shovel 100% of the blame on whoever was on the field last. And the only way to argue that position is to point out that the QB could have done a little bit more to seal the game when he had the ball, like other QBs do sometimes.

For the record, I agree 100% that our closes losses are as much to do with the inconsistency and occasional ineptitude of our offense as they are the defense. However, running the ball was an issue late in games and we often failed to protect Tannehill sufficiently on those crucial drives in which the offense could not move the ball.

At the end of the day, our opponents were able to stuff the run and pressure Tannehill when they absolutely had to which should tell us all that we're not that great at this point.

Rather than make excuses and point to scapegoats, it's much easier to simply point to the fact that we're not good enough to beat the Broncos and Packers at this point.

No matter how close we were to doing it, those scenarios will remain a fluke until we solidify the interior of our O-line with better Guards.

Keep in mind that Miko is not only his wife, but also his agent.

If Cam Wake's agent came out and said that everyone loves Philbin and hates Tanny, I think there's a good chance you'd need to first look at what Wake had to gain from the statement rather than immediately putting stock in what the agent had to say.

    This.

Philbin is the guy that we were initially enamored with when he kept stating how simple the game of football is.
So simple that they don't need to practice that hard, get riled up or worry about their job security if they don't perform. Exhibit 1A, Dallas Thomas.

Then too the degree of Odrick's upset was blown out of proportion as well. Before I saw it, it was posted here that Odrick really exploded at Philbin. Then the gif shows he is jawing, but no clue why or about what exactly.

I have no problem with Miko voicing Her opinion. I just realize that older players like Grimes and Wake are going to be supportive of this coaching staff because they have a lot to lose if a new head coach comes in and decides to go with younger players.

Both Wake and Grimes would certainly be able to sign with another team, but the money might not be as good and they both would have to relocate again in the twilight of their careers.

As far as Miko's insinuation that some players question Tannehill's ability as a starting QB. I think that only goes along with many of us on this forum. After nearly three years and no playoff appearances as the starting QB of the Dolphins, we will enter year four of the Tannehill experiment next year, still unclear if he is the long term answer for the Dolphins at the QB position or not.

A lot of questions concerning many of the players on this roster need to be resolved before the beginning of next season and that includes Tannehill. Whether Miko and her husband are happy about it or not, those questioned will likely be answered by a Dolphins head coach, not named Philbin.

I actually like Miko. That being said, she is trying to get a Media career started so going on the BigO show and not being supportive of Tannekill is not really that surprising.

By the way if Miko is right then the players are seeing what everyone with a brain is seeing, Tannehill missing open receivers and big plays.

May I remind you that Big O is the biggest Tanne"KILL" detractor in this entire market, and he is the only one that puts her on the air. He lead her to HIS subject matter, and she gave him non answers to appease.

Could not be more transparent. The rest of it is the simple finger pointing that always occurs when you lose.

Once again, I called her an "attention whore". For those of you not privy to the definition of the term, I refer you to Urban Dictionary -

I am not speaking on her promiscuity, as far as I know the only sex she craves is from Brent Grimes.
