I voted no because Philbin cant control the locker room and he was asleep when bountygate broke last year we have two black eyes and we have collapsed two years in a row . improving teams don't play this bad like Miami has .

Really, bountygate was somehow Philbin's fault now? Maybe spygate too? :shifty:

Please don't attack the posters themselves for their opinions.

You can argue their position all you want, but I don't want to see any personal attacks in the thread. I'm not a Mod, but I do know that my intention in this thread is that EVERYONE is able to feel free to vote as they want.

Now, we may vigorously argue with their position, but calling names is kindergarten stuff and we're better than that.

    I answered no.

They won't be in in the playoffs, it looks to me like he's lost the team, and he seems overwhelmed these last few weeks.

However, my answer comes with a caveat: I am not in the locker room.

No Playoffs. No points in the second half against NE. No compete for 60 minutes against NE, or Baltimore. No noticeable improvement overall as a team one year to the next with Philbin. No emotion or fire still. No, No, No. Do you see a theme here? Obviously I voted no.

I will give Philbin props though, right before half to use those timeouts as NE played it cautious, then to stay aggressive after the return by Landry and have Tannehill go deep. That's the kind of Philbin we needed week in, week out for the last 3 years, not what we've gotten. He should have that mind set consistently, not just when he knows his job is potentially on the line, not just when all the stars align just right for him.

In short, No. I do not approve. I do not even approve of him being employed at this very second. It's noon, we should have already told the world he's toast, like Jimmy Wilson in coverage.

I just think that Philbin is in over his head, much like Cameron and Sparano. That game yesterday was just plain embarrassing. I voted No!

I was a "yes" last week, but a "no" this week.

Reason for my change at this stage -

I always thought 10-6 Philbin should keep his job. That's no longer possible.

9-7 is a question mark. It demonstrates improvement, but will not result in playoffs. And the way the team is playing, I have very little faith they will win out. I'm seeing 8-8 again, and Philbin's failures in December are simply becoming unacceptable at this point.

The common factor in this and last year's collapses is the offensive line. This year was actually looking good, right up until Albert went down.

I totally disagree. While the OL has been a problem in a few games this year. They are not the main problem on this team.

The main problem has been the defense or lack of defense over the past month. Other than the Jets game, the Dolphins defense has been putrid since the game against the Chargers.

I have no idea where the pass rush disappeared to, but it certainly hasn't been effective recently. Other than Jenkins, the LB play has been below average in the latter part of the season.

The next time the secondary makes a play late in a game to secure a victory will be the first time it has happened all season.

If not for the below average play of the defense in the last month of the season, this team would have made the playoffs. Even with the play of the offensive line.

They looked good for a stretch, but I'm not sure they did overall. They had some bad games early in the season.

To be fair, Rashad Jones' INT against the Jets sealed that victory for us.

Another blown playoff spot. Another year sitting in 3rd place.

At 6-4 and up by 11 points in the 4th quarter against Denver...they lose. Up 10-0 at home against the Ravens to be the wild card leaders, get outscored 28-3 after. Other blown 4th quarter leads against Detroit & Green Bay (But it was Aaron Rodgers so its an excuse! Well... the Bills just beat them to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Bills. With no offense.)

Can't defend this coaching. The December chokes and failure to hold leads is a Wannstedt/Sparano hallmark. The Dolphins do the same thing year after year.

Almost forgot they started last season 3-0 and still blew it. What's the percentage of teams that start 3-0 and make the playoffs? 75%? Of course the Dolphins would be in the minority that couldn't.

You are correct and I will admit that the interception by Jones did close out that game.

I guess I forgot about that play because I just figured the Dolphins won that game simply because the Jets FG kicker sucked.

Mainly, though, you're right. The defense, which was supposedly our strength, really let us down in the clutch when we were leading big games late in the game.

Actually, Philbin's approval rating ROSE this week. I think it's an indication that things got so bad, people aren't taking the vote seriously anymore. It's become a joke, in the form of a backwards protest.

I voted no. After reading about Philbin having players take leadership classes, I think he should have taken some himself. I think the best Philbin could ever do, is take a job coaching a great team somebody else put together, and make a run for the playoffs. Then you would see the team get worse and worse every year as his coaching abilities with newer players was shown.
