I think it's going to happen the Monday after our last game. The 29th. I don't think ross starts another head coaching search before firing Philbin.
Yes, black Monday. He extends him the courtesy of finishing the season. Regis will be back in Green Bay by March.
I think probably black Monday. Can't recall a time in the NFL a head coach has ever made it to the 3rd quarter and not been allowed to finish. I'm sure it's happened I just can't think of it. Would be good to get an early start though, especially if they lose to Vikes or Jets.
I'm not sure there's much of a place for him in Green Bay, what if they've hired a nice girl from the agency to do their typing in the meantime?
The date really doesn't matter. The only thing which is important is that it happens and that Ross is already putting together a list of names and a plan to entice the best candidate to take the job. There is probably going to be several high profile head coaching jobs open in a few weeks. I think both the Jets and Giants will be looking to hire new head coaches. It also wouldn't surprise me if the Redskins and their owner get rid of Gruden after this season. The Raiders also will be looking for a new head coach and they probably have the inside track on Harbaugh at this time, simply because of the location of the team. Ross is going to have to step up to the plate this year or he will end up getting another left over after all the higher profile teams sign the more sought after head coaching candidates. Ross needs to get it right this time. He has had plenty of time to make his mistakes as a novice owner and now he needs to prove to the fan base that he can go out and get the quality head coach who can come in and turn this team into a winner. Money shouldn't be an issue for a billionaire who gave over a hundred million dollars to the University he graduated from many years ago. Now he needs to open up his wallet and pay whatever is necessary to hire the best head coaching candidate availiable once this season is over.
So based on the fact you don't have him being fired until 2016, I guess that means you project him to remain the head coach through next season.
Im not sure he goes back to Green Bay. I remember Aaron Rodgers not being broken up by his departure. In fact, he said it was a good thing. Maybe just PR spin, but he seemed emotionless over the loss of Philbin. They don't need either.
I am sure he has another job lined up already. He has been careful to culture his old contacts and made sure he didnt piss off anyone. This is not a confident man and I dont think he expected to stick as a HC of the Dolphins.
I agree on the firing, the 29th. The sad thing is, I agree with you that he won't start the process of searching for a coach until then.
Dont know, dont care. The sooner the better... Replacement choices: 1. Gus Malzahn 2. Todd Bowles 3. Bill Cowher 4. Pep Hamilton /list
Doubt Bowles would come to Miami after not even being considered seriously the first time and was mostly used for the Rooney Rule. Regardless, while I think hes one of the top defensive coordinators in the game, I dont think his quiet personality would translate well as head coach. We need a guy that the players will listen to like a Lovie Smith or Tomlin (not saying theyre candidates, just naming top defensive coordinators that translated well as head coach) and stay away from the next Leslie Frazier.
Yes, assuming we win our last two games I think it would be best for our team. Nobody like 9-7, but it is progress especially considering our schedule this year and all of our injuries. Everyone keeps hoping for a better coach, I think we will end up with a worse one if Philbin gets fired and Ross fails to get Harbaugh again, we will have a new HC, a new OC, a new offense, a new DC, a new defensive scheme, a new learning curve, and more of the same mediocrity. Instead of thinking of it as another year of Philbin, I choose to look at it as another year of Lazor. If we still had Philbin and Sherman I would jump on ya'lls band wagon, but we don't. We have an OC that I like and a GM that has done a good job in one year. I hope we win these last 2 games because next year we will be healthy, have an easier schedule and keep making enough progress to be better than 9-7 when we have another tough schedule in 2 years. I put the 2016 in there as a joke, I hope its longer than that though because that means we will keep getting better and better. But you guys can keep looking forward to getting your way and rebuilding every 3 years, I am sick of that and I can't believe people keep wanting that to happen. Its not like this team sucks, if it did I would want a new coach right now. When we drafted Tannehill it was the first time we drafted a QB since Marino, now I am hoping we can get some continuity. Keep in mind, we saw a problem after 2 years (which should have been dealt with after one year), his name was Sherman. The other problem was Ireland, we solved that problem with Hickey. We need more than a year to feel the impact of those changes and I believe we have already seen a change for the better. Let's not act like we were not plagued with injuries and we didn't have a tough schedule.
I don't have any interest in Hamilton. He's never been a head coach. He looks good as an OC now because of Luck. Heck, you or me could look good as an OC if Luck was the QB.
Maybe but I like most of his offensive philosophies and his willingness/ability to adapt based on personnel
I don't think it'll be the Monday after the last game... Ross will probably take his time to make the decision and if he does indeed fire him well... Could take a week.
****, I didn't know he was still employed. Sad what happens when you stop giving a **** and would rather work than watch football. This is what this team has driven me to.
I kid you not - I was in bed recovering from a minor, yet pretty crappy surgery. I could not be bothered to set the laptop up for a stream, and watched the Redskins game instead. The Redskins. I had literally nothing better to do other than just lay in bed and watch the Dolphins game, and I watched someone else play, and it was the effin Redskins.
While I agree Bowles is highly unlikely to come to Miami, I am not sure I agree that he is a "quiet" coach. There is some kind of fire burning within him, and while he may not be Rex Ryan, he us certainly no Tony Dungy. I see him as more....methodical. He exudes confidence, and I believe he is a fantastic teacher. I truly believe he's gonna be a good one.
I want Rex Ryan teamed with lazor ! And I think hickey is a keeper! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well nobody posted yet....I guess we have to wait until next year AGAIN.9/7#^@&/) FREAKIN PHILBIN STAYS.
looks like he's not even getting fired. If we finish 8-8 9-7 and miss the playoffs we probably just won't resign him
