Then we look elsewhere. He's not even worth that much to me. I didn't even know Michigan had a hard on for him.

    Todd Bowles baby.

We just need a competent coach that has the team prepped every game who isn't a pansy at HC. that's all I ask.

the challenge of turning a program around, not uprooting your family, full power..comp salary..if Davis is willing to give him the salary and power then I think he'll take it.

There's no excuse for your condescending posts. Philbin is what his record says he is: A very mediocre coach. I'm not even lobbying for his continued employment. I was stating that sticking with him wouldn't be the worst option if every qualified applicant said no to Miami.

Oh ok, your an NFL league employee I see with your overwhelming amount of information and knowledge on the topic. You really went out of your way to give us a detailed analysis as to why there is "no chance" Harbaugh comes to Miami. Thanks bro...

Philbin is not a BAD coach, he is a mediocre coach.

The distinction is important. People act like if a team/player/coach/GM isn't great, then they are bad. That's simply not true.

Every team is filled with average/mediocre players and coaches. Every. Team.

If you think there is a chance, you shouldn't be on an NFL forum.

I haven't forgotten about Cowher, I just don't think he has any interest in coaching anymore. He has a good job at CBS and he is making a lot of money without all the stress of being a head coach in the NFL.

Once again, proving your football wisdom with your astounding amount of work you put into this post to prove Miami has "no chance" of getting Harbaugh. If I had any say in the matter, I would give you a 'Post of the Year' award on this site for those last two posts'.... My brain is swirling with knowledge on the situation now thanks to you!

However, this article ( http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/20/harbaugh-reportedly-torn-between-nfl-michigan/ ) proves we have a chance in getting Harbaugh... Even if the chance is .09%, we need a HC and he is an available candidate and it's well known that Ross is going to make a push. So you can cry about it now, whether you like it or not.

If we are interviewing candidates while keeping him as head coach then I would officially diagnose Ross with alzheimers. How can you do that again?

Yes, that's true. I'm not trying to make an argument that Miami shouldn't fire him and try to upgrade. I'm just saying that there's a very real possibility, as there always is when you fire your coach, that the team could end up worse. Someone said Philbin was worse case scenario. You can't really say a .500 coach is worst case scenario.

Settling for mediocrity is settling for losing, I mean whats the difference between a .500 team that didn't make the playoffs and a .250 team that didn't make the playoffs, both teams are irrelevant. I have seen enough of Philbin to know he'll never be a great HC, and I highly doubt he'll ever be a HC again.

Nothing is worse than winning less than 4 games! I prefer a competitive team every year.

So, you must have called the past 6 years a success (since 2008) even though we didn't make the playoffs in any of them years, I call them years forgetful, painful to watch, and sad, because 20 years from now, nobody is going remember the 8-8 2013 Miami Dolphins that didn't make the playoffs or the 2014 Miami Dolphins that didn't make the playoffs...

It just goes to show what type of fans Miami really has, which is the kind that is content with a 'competitive' losing team. I don't care if it's 9-7 or 0-16, if you didn't get into the playoffs, it was a failed year, 'moral victory's' was a saying that was made up for people that lose all the time. I do not believe in 'moral victory's' and I'll never accept losing, i'm kind of sorry you do.

Really? What forum are you reading? I guess you didn't read the response I got when I just made a factual comment, but don't let the facts get in the way.

Just to play Devil's Advocate -

IF, and it's a big if the way the team is performing as of late - but IF Philbin wins out, what we will have seen of Philbin is a one game improvement all 3 years of his tenure in terms of wins / losses. Sure, it might be a mistake to assume he will continue to improve, but I don't think we as fans can say there's no chance he won't improve.

Again, I'm not trying to say I want the team to keep Philbin as coach. Especially if he doesn't win out. I'm just saying that when you have a .500 coach like Philbin and decide to cut bait and swing for the fences, there's is a very real chance, I'd say probably about a coin flip, that the next coach is worse - IF you don't land a known quantity like Harbaugh.

Your comment was not a fact. As of this moment there was nothing factual about your post.

Shut it down...He will be winning somewhere else. Doesn't matter anymore. And I HOPE he stays in the NFL...sincerely do, and rubs Ross' stupid face in it every chance he gets.
