Uhh what if Lazor leaves in the offseason?

I think if you look at the coaching careers of Philbin before he became a head coach and Lazor now, it would appear Lazor is more qualified to be a head coach now than Philbin was three years ago.

Philbin had been an OL coach for the majority of his coaching career. He had never been a head coach at any level of football. He was the OC of the Packers in title only. Because while he helped put the offensive game plan together during the week, he never called the plays on game day. That responsibility was assumed by the Packers head coach during the game.

Lazor on the other hand was the OC at the University of Virginia for three years before returning to the NFL.
He was the QB coach last year with the Eagles and he actually called all the plays during the games this year as the OC of the Dolphins.

So when you look at their respective careers, it certainly appears that Lazor is better prepared to be a head coach right now than Philbin was when he became the head coach of the Dolphins three years ago.

It appears that there will be several NFL head coaching jobs available within the next few weeks and it won't surprise me in the least if Lazor is a candidate for one or more of those openings. In fact it would not surprise me in the least if he takes the job with the Jets if it is offered to him.

I think if Gamble takes the GM job with the Jets and Lazor becomes the head coach, this duo could end up being the worst nightmare for Dolphin fans. Gamble is an excellent talent evaluator and Lazor has shown that he is capable of getting more out what had been a below average offense before his arrival in Miami.

Whether it might be in his best interest to remain in Miami and work with Tannehill will become irrelevant if he is given the opportunity to become an NFL head coach. I have no doubt if he is given the chance to become an NFL head coach, instead of remaining the OC of the Dolphins, he will be out of Miami in a New York minute.

It's not the group, just Philbin and Coyle for me. I'd have hoped Ross would've been hell bent on retaining Lazor. History may prove me wrong, but this is the best offense we've had since basically the 90s, and I truly think Lazor and RT are due the credit.

And what's arrogant about having an opinion? I think that's a silly statement. This what I think is going on. That's it. I think I am witnessing a third consecutive non-firing of a team leader, when the time was right. I feel strongly about that, having the other incidents so fresh in my memory.
And just like Sparano and Irish, I expect this to end badly.

I have to question if Ross has made a real decision which has been positive for this organization during his six years as the majority owner.

The fact the Dolphins have a sub 500 record over the time he has been the owner seems to imply that his decisions haven't been very effective in regards to turning this organization into a winner again.

Instead his decisions have only proved that he is excellent with it comes to selecting employees who are good at maintaining mediocrity for this organization.

I didn't come to that conclusion by myself. How can you act like those were 4 random losses? Those losses completely floored me as a fan. Floored almost everyone, and rightfully brought question to many of our faith in Philbin.

How do we honestly know that all the credit for the offensive improvement this year is attributable to Lazor and not a collaborative effort between Lazor and Philbin? When Lazor came on board, he talked about running an up tempo, fast paced offense. Philbin was cited as be skeptical about it. We never truly saw that system Lazor talked about which suggests that Philbin has had at least some input into the offense this year.

If Harbaugh joins the Jets and turns them around and Lazor leaves, the fanbase will riot. It'll also be an indictment of the ineptitude of Ross as an owner. It makes me sick as a Dolphin fan when any of our rivals gets a jump on us. The Pats these last 14 years have been enough torture.

And I don't want to hear that beyond Harbaugh no other candidates were better than Philbin. I could name at least 10 coaches who I'd rather have leading this team. Lazor leaving aside, if Coyle is retained, which looks to be a given, our defense will continue to slide as well. I just don't see much of a reason to be optimistic heading into 2015.

i will laugh if lazor leaves and we win 5 games next season. would serve ross right. philbin should have been fired weeks ago. sabotage alone going with thomas at rt instead of fox who looked great.

That could also mean Philbin held the offense back. He gets queasy you know.

For me, I just deduce Philbins first 2 terrible offensive seasons as head coach. Boring, unproductive, and weak offensive seasons. I deduce that from this best singular offensive season we have had in about 15 years. That's how I come to the conclusion anyway.

Harbaugh going to the Jets will be the ultimate nut punch from this franchise and its inept owner.

Not that I think that's likely, but it would be poetic justice.

I do wonder if Stringer is right and Ross simply cheaped out here. We haven't heard anything about an extension yet and Ross mentioned repeatedly that Philbin has one more year, so maybe he just didn't want to swallow paying for two coaches. Philbin either gets an extension after next year, or his contract simply isn't renewed and Ross doesn't have to actually fire him, which is clear is not something he likes doing.

Its apparent now, especially since Philbin has been retained, that Ross gave every assurance to Lazor he would be secure.

Ross gave Philbin a 4yr. term and thats the way it was going to be. PERIOD!

I'd love to see Harbaugh go to someone like Oakland, and skip out on Michigan again despite Ross' efforts.

Why on earth would anyone want Harbaugh to remain in the AFC?

At the end of the day, I think we both like Lazor so I don't want to be too contentious on this matter.

He could be on some teams' radar. I just don't think he's high enough on the list for it to be a major concern to us. He spent 1 year working in support of Chip Kelly and he's been in Miami for 1 year during which the offense has been consistently inconsistent.

I like him enough to hope he stays in Miami, but it's mostly because I don't want Tannehill having to learning a new offense next year. If he was hired away, my reaction wouldn't be 'Oh no! We lost Bill Lazor!' It would be 'Oh no! We lost our OC!' There's a big difference there.

Miami Dolphin fan wannabe. I had to leave right after the game yesterday, so I could not see any posts until late last night. I was trying to figure out what poster would try to discredit RT's game yesterday, if that was even possible. What fan could get on a board, right after a game like that, and spew drivel about our QB? It did not take long....DING< DING< DING...we have a winner! PhinsMiami's answer to Tannehill's game was..."Do something in a meaningful game?!" Priceless. Today, he responds with the important nugget that Lazor is a wannabe. I can't wait for anymore INSIGHTS.

Personally while I think Harbaugh is a good coach, I don't think he is a genius and I wouldn't care about facing him
His career record against teams over .500 is laughably bad.

Agreed. I'd only be scared of Harbaugh if there was a team built like the 49ers are that is calling for him to come and take all the credit.

But there's no 49ers job to take over out there.

The Oakland and NYJ jobs are both going to require a complete rebuild.
