I saw a lot of personal mistakes by players that hurt us in the game vs the Vikings. Satele screwing up the snap on third down on our first drive to set us up for a missed FG, Tannehill throwing the ball right at the defender who tipped it and caught it, Vernon then Wake both jumping in the neutral zone to set up the Vikings for an easy 2pt conversion followed by Landry's fumble on the kickoff allowing another easy score are the first off the top of my head. Was that coaching? Hell no..

The team could have easily crumbled, knowing they had a 1:512 chance to make the playoffs anyway, no fans support at a home game, thier coaches jobs on the line.... but then Wallace has a monster day, Williams is out there ballin, Ryan f'ing Tannehill throws 4 TD's, Miller runs like a beast, Wake redeems himself with the pressures and sacks, our TE were obviously included in the scheming process, then our little Marist pick Fede with the punt block! Tell you what, all season this team has not known the word quit. Was that coaching? Hell yes it was!

BTW: How good do you think Fede feels this week? Good for him!

Voted no, because 8-8 isn't progress. I'm not sure if 9-7 is progress or not, but I'll vote yes if he beats the Jets this week. A sweep of the Jets earns my approval.

The guy is going to be the coach next year. I can live with that. I'm not thrilled about the way the season went but at the beginning of the year I don't think too many of us expected better than 9-7.

Yeah, I think THill's development tilts the scales into Philbin's favor.

Also think our D is "paper" good, not a dominant D consistently, as long as THill continues to grow I'm fine with him.

Would love 9-7, what are second winning season in the last ten yrs or so

I've said that about our "D" since mid season, statistically good or not they never passed the eye test for me.
About the Dolphins coach,it really doesn't matter anymore does it. We're saddled with him for at least another year.

He's still a terrible motivator and coach. Too many times we have been out coached and not ready to play the games. Games like the Baltimore one shows me he doesn't know how to plan for the other team. They had a horrible DB field and we never attacked it. Like jldolphan said, it doesn't matter because we are stuck with him for another year.

I voted no but it really doesn't matter how anyone else feels about Philbin. The only vote that counts is the vote of Ross and once again his vote continues to prove that he should have never become an NFL owner.

I still voted no, but there are some kudos to Philbin. I just don't think his low keyed, monotone style of leadership will work in today's NFL... The quiet fire just doesn't do much for the players of today...they need a rah-rah type, fire breather as HC... We'll see. There has been improvement, assuming they don't flop against the jests...that would be disappointing...

I've always voted no since the start of these polls, and frankly nothing has made me change my mind. Certainly not a last minute win vs the Vikings at home in which Philbin again made some questionable coaching decisions.

There are other personnel people on this team who deserve more of the credit for this so called improvement.

No. But I'm on my knees hoping and praying that he does something to change my mind in 2015.

A change in the percentage and the only thing that has happened is Steve Ross deciding to keep him.

    Shocking.

I voted NO just because he continued to start Dallas Thomas when Fox couldn't have been worse.

    Too stubborn.

All they had to do is beat the crap out of some mediocre Minnesota team that had nothing to play for as well to get a higher approval rating.

Keeping tabs on the Raiders, I'm starting to miss Tony Sparano. He looks to have learned a lot from his previous stints here and NY. I was never that much sold on him when he was here, but I always respected him and his work ethnic. The players really seemed to buy into him. He was stuck with Ireland as GM and a bad QB in Henne. His offensive coordinators were terrible too. Sparano himself became stale and unimaginative. I do feel bad for the guy for how his last season went down however. That said, he looks like the right guy to lead the Raiders right now and I wish him luck there.

But Philbin has a good QB who looks to be improving and a roster no longer managed by one of the worst GMs in the NFL in Ireland and all he has to show for it is more of the same results? Sparano made a few bone headed decisions as our HC but I don't remember any moments where he actually cost us games. So if you were to ask me to sum up in one word how would describe Philbin's tenure, I'd say "meh." Compared to Sparano he hasn't looked like much of an improvement. His finesse approach compared to Sparano's power football also showed it's shortcomings. Sparano was too conservative and unimaginative, whereas Philbin relies too much on the pass and gives up on the run too soon when it's working. Philbin just hasn't been much better than the guy he's replaced.

I don't think Daboll is that terrible of an offensive coordinator. Henne was just bad.

And they didn't even do that. They barely won. They let a rookie quarterback throw all over them. They let Matt Asiata run all over them. Then they won because a rookie made a rookie mistake.

The only reason Minnesota tied the game was because of a rookie making a rookie mistake. Selective memory much?

I thought it might be in the 18-21% range. Figured people would try to accept Phlbin because they knew he was coming back anyways, so why not learn to like him... sort of an approval by surrendering to reality.

Could be that. Could also be the poll was taken right after us winning an exciting game.

It could also be that over the course of the last week's drama, some people put more thought into it and simply changed their mind. Personally, I've been pretty on the fence about Philbin. I've never thought he was a bad coach, but, at times he looked as if he was losing the team. Then, something would happen that would change my mind.

The team showed some resiliency playing together and coming back in the Vikings game. If Philbin actually HAD lost the team, I don't think they could have done that. It has happened other times. I'm just using that one recent game as an example.

Also, the controversy was heating up, so the media kind of dug around a little bit more than usual to see if they could find some player that would badmouth the coaches, or whatever they could find so they could get their scoop... yet, all I saw was a team that supported their coaches, supported each other, and was together. If there was any controversy, they didn't find it.
