Drops happen, we are not seeing a Brandon Marshall situation.

And want a winning record this yr, think it is important for the Franchise to get some positive momentum.

pretty sure in those games they lost at the end against GB, Detroit and Denver he did everything he needed to do. Defense failed. You're right, Tannehill sucks. 26-12. Almost 4K yards. He blows. Let's start fresh.

The one thing I love about thephins.com is a fan like myself being able to share their opinions on the team and its progress. I will not back down on my thoughts on Tannehill, though I like him as a person he lacks the leadership and skill level to lead us to the next level. If we win the last game against the Jets he is a .500 QB, that will never get us in the playoffs. True the QB is the not the only position on the team, but he is the field general. It seemed at times the deep ball was removed from the game plan due to his inability to complete them. The fact is we are settling to be a mediocre team with Philban and Tannehill leading this team. I said my piece just like every one else and yes I have been a fan since 1970.

But, my question still is, WHY do you determine that the deep ball is Tannehill's problem to fix? Why do you not lay the blame on the receivers and oline also?

It's crazy, if the defense had done what the defense is supposed to do, regardless of what the offense did or didn't do, the Dolphins would have probably 3 more wins, and be in the playoffs, and people would be crowning Tannehill as the next great thing. NOTHING about Tannehill's stats would change as far as passing/rushing statistics. People's views seem to be unfairly colored by wins, which is a team stat.

I glad you post your opinion, and you're free to have it, but I can't remotely agree with it.

    THIS!!!!! ^^^^^^

I think everyone forgets that Tannehill didn't play quarterback his entire life; that he didn't play quarterback his entire college career. Let's be truthful, the Dolphins took a player, who was a receiver that transitioned to quarterback and played remarkably well enough at the college level that an NFL team took a HUGE gamble on as a first round drat pick at quarterback. How many quarterbacks that have played that position their entire life and had incredible college careers end up being busts? Ryan Leaf? Todd Marinovich? Tony Eason?

I think, based on his lack of experience playing quarterback in college and the steady improvement he's demonstrated at the professional level we have a damned fine quarterback that's going to do nothing but improve as he gets more and more experience.

I haven't forgotten, DK!!! I've brought this up numerous times in various threads, and all the detractors of Tannehill have either ignored it, or tried to say that it didn't matter. LOL. I'm psyched with his year to year progress. Give him a big physical receiver to pair with Wallace, and an oline that gives him average time to throw, and watch him explode!!

This is the problem I have with people talking about Tannehill. For one, he has shown an ability to complete the deep ball. He, right now, has a problem with plays that are designed for Mike Wallace, when hitting the deep ball. However to other wide receivers, it is proven that he is just as good as any other quarterback. The stats show this to a really good correlation.

I know, when watching the game, people see Wallace wide open, and then they see a pass and it is not up to snuff. However this could easily be a problem with the scheme and nothing to do with Wallace and Tannehill. I know people love looking for people to blame.

The rest of your stuff seem to be just personal opinion not based on reality. I really dislike when people use record to judge a quarterback. While quarterback is the most important position on the field, there is still so much that goes to whether a team wins a game. Football is awesome because it is a team sport. Even though Brady is a really great quarterback, without the defense being really well coached and coming up with big plays, he could easily be a .500 quarterback. Brady has done a lot of amazing things, however so has the defense and the rest of the team. Quarterbacks make winning easier, they do not make winning a given.

Plus, you know, Mark Sanchez went to back-to-back AFC Championship games. If that's not proof that a great team record doesn't necessarily mean your QB is doing great, I don't know what is.

Cool. Then you remember how bad Bob Griese was his first 4 years at QB... TG, we had a lot of surrounding talent for him and a patient HC...

Something that doesn't show in the stats, he is tough. He has taken a beating the last 2 years and he just keeps getting up and making plays.

I'm excited to see what he can do when he isn't taking a beating.

Partially true. He did play QB in high school.

    from wiki
And then in college, when they wanted him to play receiver, he insisted on still preparing as a QB too... he sat in the film room and did the QB prep stuff in addition to WR stuff, according to Tannehill. That's why he was ready to step in at QB when the chance came.

So the only real thing he is behind on, and it's still a big thing, was actual game experience for two seasons... so around 20 starts.

Another fun fact... both Hartline and Tanehill were hurdlers.

This post is spot on. The absolute *** kicking Ryan has taken often goes over looked. I have not seen him flinch on 1 pass and has not thrown his coach or any OL under the bus. Plus, after today, he will have started every game in his three seasons. While he is not a finished product, I can't help root for this kid to keep on improving.

It's worth mentioning that Ryan is still averaging 8 - 9 fumbles oer year, but that this year we have gotten VERY lucky -- only losing ONE out of EIGHT fumbles.

This is where Stringer would say that fumble recoveries are pure luck, so to expect us to return towards the mean at some point and get 'less lucky'.
