I posted in the game thread that he has every right to be upset. However he had no right to react the way he did. It's the last damn game of the season. He needs to put his f***ing big boy pants on and play out the last game for his teammates. Do you think they call the plays or don't want him to get the ball? He had no excuse to quit on THEM because the reality is that those are the guys out on the field battling with him. If he wanted out, play out the last two quarters of the season and request a trade after. Find a way to make it work for everyone, but don't be a little b***h.
I am fairly certain that Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson are both goners this offseason. I assumed Wallace would make the financial cut and be the starter along with Jarvis Landry next season. If this is true, I have to think that Wallace may be gone as well. Although, if Wallace leaves, I have to think that spares Hartline or Gibson from the chopping block. Add that with Charles Clay being a free agent and we may be seeing a VERY different receiving corps next year.
**** him. Get rid of him. I'm sick of his ****. He's played well this year, turned himself into a better route runner, and a tougher WR here. His me first attitude though, he can shove it. If only we weren't desparate for big splash FA's every year to get asses back in the seats... I expect the same thing to happen again this offseason.
Maybe the rest of the team should try being as pissed as Wallace. All BHart is going to do is go buy more tangerine colored slacks. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
At least Hartline buys his pants after a game....or after a practice....Wallace turns into a crappy version of Terrell Owens-diva-mode right after a touch down in the middle of a game we're winning.
Grrrrrreeeaaatt comparison. Any logical person will look at both those guys and see whats the same and whats different.
What makes it even more ridiculous to me is that the deep and intermediate passing game have looked really good the last few weeks. He had something to build on moving forward but instead chose to destroy all the recent progress.
Again...I think acting like an idiot whether its a win or loss ,makes you...well an IDIOT. Why give people a reason to blame you or vent at you unless you are more concerned about being an individual than part of a team. Just the wrong place and time to do it
He stood on the sideline and had Brandon Gibson answer questions for him pretending to be Mike Wallace. So even if he didn't bench himself (which it appears he did) he made no effort to rejoin the game, talk to the staff or communicate with his team. Oh yeah....after throwing a temper tantrum in a game we were WINNING.
Dez doesn't bench himself and refuse to speak, having a single teammate speak in first person as himself and saying nothing to anyone else.
I agree with you, but I don't see how this has "destroyed" anything, as suggested, or that Wallace "needs to go" now because of this. It honestly happens somewhere every week. I also don't think it merits benching the guy for a half. He has had a good year and got frustrated once. Whatever. JMO.
According to this article, where it quotes Gibson, who is speaking for Wallace, it implies that the coaching sat Wallace. This is an except from Gibson: "Coming into the start of the second half we were notified that Mike was not going to play in the second half." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...-second-half-of-jets-loss-20141228-story.html
Dez has gone to the locker room early. I know that's not the same, but it's pretty similar. Do we know for a fact that Wallace benched himself?
Again...I do not think Wallace took himself out of the game. I do believe that his actions with the coaches had EVERYTHING to do with him not being allowed to play. Either way...its on Wallace's actions
I'm pretty sure something something simiilar to this happened based on facts available. Wallace blows up. Gets into it with Tannehill. Tannehill teams him to F off, which is more or less confirmed though probably paraphrased. Wallace acts like a baby and sits himself, but intends to go back in. Staff tells him not to bother, if he wants to bench himself then don't play. Also not directed at your post but just because the staff notified the players doesn't mean it wasnt the choice of Wallace.
A strong coach gets his best players on the field for the game, IMO. Make the guy refuse to play if he doesn't want to play. Confront him. I wouldn't expect that from this staff, though. Philbin has been getting rid of outspoken players since day 1. I think they're trying to win with a non-confrontational coaching staff and a non-confrontational team on the field. Maybe next year?
I truely hope Ryan told Wallace to go ---- himself, he needs to take charge of this team. Allot of the good WR/QB combos disagree....I like the show of emotion on both parts. Dez Bryant caused a scene on the sidelines a few weeks ago that raised eyebrows. I'm sure Romo was Atleast thinking STFU. when your offense and your team has underachieved then frustration kicks in.
Re-signing Randy Starks was a no-brainer, IMO. The "leadership council" was quickly dismembered, though. I don't think Philbin wants to be challenged at all. Walking away from confrontation works sometimes, but I'm not sure it's a good "one size fits all" approach. Just my 2 cents. Maybe Philbin knows what he is doing.
Watch the events after the Clay TD.....WR says something to Tannehill......RT LITERALLY says something, cant make it out, but has a look of "go **** yourself dude".....then that same coach is standing in front of Wallace as Philbin is chatting with him with hand on his shoulder......RT def stood his ground and looked PISSED...going to post a screen shot of my cell phone text to my dad at 2:23pm when we scored....
Does Wallace just possibly want to get cut? Just speculating but maybe he is just fed up with the regime and a week after the announcement that it is staying intact, he wants to make sure he is gone?
Don't think so. @JeffDarlington: Wallace wasn’t “benched,” according to several sources. It wasn’t initially “coach’s decision.” Wallace told Philbin he didn’t want to play. @JeffDarlington: After Clay scored with 2:49 left in 1st half, Mike Wallace came off the field and told Joe Philbin he no longer wanted to play in the game. @JeffDarlington: Many Dolphins teammates were very displeased with Wallace’s actions today. Several tell me they felt like he abandoned them when needed. I dont know how to link the the actual tweets... but here... see for yourselves if you dont wont to believe it.. https://twitter.com/JeffDarlington I love this one too.. let this sink in... @JeffDarlington: Something wrong: Wallace ends season on bench. Tannehill ends season on ground. Dolphins end season with loss. Philbin ends season with job.
This truly is disturbing...but there will be people blaming this on everyone else but Wallace himself
